07.01.2022 Sarah Rey, Managing Partner, shares her reflections as we adapt and learn in this new working environment : TEN Positives 1. WE ARE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE We dont have to finish sentences. When we say ten positives, everyone knows we are talking about Covid-19 and its impact.... 2. LOOK WHO IS FLOURISHING People who you thought might not cope are flourishing. 3. CLEAN AIR When you need to do some deep de-stressing breathing the air is unusually fresh and clear. 4. BRINGING TOGETHER A shared experience of crisis is bringing teams and people together. 5. ACTS OF KINDNESS Small acts of kindness have double the impact. When a senior manager or business owner says they are taking a pay cut, this resonates. 6. MAKING IT REAL AT HOME No longer do we pretend that there are no distractions in the house during a work call, such as pets, kids, housemates. 7. WORKPLACE FLEXIBILITY We have been demanding workplace flexibility for the past 10-20 years. Finally it has arrived for everyone. If you want to work 8-12pm, 2-6pm, or in fact 8 12midnight, who cares so long as work objectives are met. 8. SKILLS COMING INTO THEIR OWN People with once considered less valuable skills, now can shine - staff who use social media platforms and technology efficiently, project managers, webinar presenters, business modellers.kind and buoyant people. 9. RESILIENCE AND GRIT Resilience is no longer a misused term. Now we are seeing what it actually means, and we also recognise when it is absent. 10. THE HUMAN SPIRIT IS INDOMITABLE We are reminded that the human spirit is indomitable. When you thought you were down, a good nights sleep or a zoom chat with friends, can bring the spring back into your step.

04.01.2022 The New Yorker journalist John Seabrook asks the question whether the pandemic has transformed the office forever. He summarises the existential questions as What’s an office for? Is it a place for newbies to learn from experienced colleagues? A way for bosses to oversee shirkers? A platform for collaboration? A source of friends and social life? A respite from family? A reason to leave the house? The pandemic has taught us many things, but in particular, that you don’t need a physical office to carry out work. https://justitia.com.au/office-space-looking-to-the-future/
