In Bologna, I wandered through the district market, with its displays of fruit and vegetables making a riot of colour. I joined the coffee culture while people-watching in the city’s main square, Piazza Maggiore. I learned how to make pasta from a lady in her 70s who does everything by hand, including rolling out the pasta dough to paper-thin.
