We have been monitoring the Covid situation closely since we made our initial postponement, hoping the virus would be set...Continue reading

23.01.2022 Clubs can't afford the fines of around $6400 because people won't follow rules and all the restrictions put on them. Dancers are also risking personal fines of $1400. I agree it sucks not being able to dance but it is what it is.

21.01.2022 DANCING: Restrictions are changing in Queensland from noon on Monday 14 December. Indoor dancing will be allowed in all venues including pubs, clubs and nightcl...ubs, subject to the one person per two metre rule. Queenslanders have worked hard to stop the spread of COVID-19, which means we can safely get back to more of the activities Queenslanders enjoy and ease some restrictions on businesses.

11.01.2022 Notice issued by the Queensland Government. How would you feel if you caught the virus from dancing, then passed it on to an aged loved one, or close friend and caused their death.....Think about it and toughen up so we can all get through this......the sooner we do the right thing we will all get back to dancing.

11.01.2022 Big apology to everyone but the decision to cancel Back to 63 for 2020 was out of our hands and was driven by the health environment we find the country in. I would like to thank the committee that had started working on the show for your efforts. Hopefully we will be able to have a bigger show in 2021.

10.01.2022 Sunday the 16th August is a Special Day, bringing back Memories of the 'King of Rock'n'Roll.

10.01.2022 Those ones that are still holding dances are going to get caught out soon regardless of their COVID Plan. It is dance not a sport as some seem to think.

05.01.2022 Little bit of information regarding Swift's Sports Club trying to buy the club off the Ipswich City Council. This started over a year ago but it fell over. It has come up again because the council doesn't want to spend $600.000 to bring the club up to standard. It has to go to the community for consultation over the next 4 to 5 months before anything can go ahead. News paper clipping is attached. I have been in a number of talks with club staff as what has been taking place.

05.01.2022 Hi JRI family and friends, Hope everybody is well and staying safe. Just a quick post to highlight that an event has been created for the long awaited AGM and voting in new committee for 2021. Please note that the AGM is for JRI members only, once we have the new committee on board hopefully dance lessons will commence at the earliest opportunity and all will be welcome. For JRI members please consider nominating for a committee position to ensure the club can continue to run... and provide Rock'n'Roll lessons for all of our Ipswich family and friends. All the best, Greg - interim President, JRI See more

05.01.2022 Roadmap to easing restrictions up to Stage 6. Dancing still only allowed at Weddings. THIS DOCUMENT WAS UPDATED ON THE 16th OCTOBER 2020

03.01.2022 Hi all, given the current restrictions we have decided to postpone the September members car cruise until 18 October. We will continue to monitor the restrictions and advise nearer the date if we need to postpone further or possibly cancel. Thanks for your support and understanding.

02.01.2022 From Jenny N Ron; Karalee Car Night Time to make that terrible announcement that until further notice our monthly gathering is cancelled. For the safety and respect of the community this decision had to be made.

02.01.2022 Hi everyone Tonight is general meeting of your club please attend if you want to have any input to the future of the club

01.01.2022 Hi everyone and welcome to Just Rock Ipswich Newsletter email, and Facebook post for June 2020. As a priority for the safety of all our members the Just Rock Ipswich Executive Committee suspended all activities in March 2020 due to COVID-19 and restriction imposed by state & federal governments and is still currently closed until further restrictions are lifted. We are continuing to check information from the relevant health guidelines and follow government directives to reas...sess our stance. Even though there has been some easing of some restrictions dance is still not possible. Our dance venue is still closed and could be for some time yet. Some of the issues we face are and not limited to; we can only have 20 people in the hall at any one time and that includes the teachers. Dance teachers must share the same residential address which means we have no one able to teach at this time that fit these requirements. There are to be no one in the risk factor present i.e. over 65 and 70. No spectators allowed. No walk inns’; you must book prior to arriving for dance. There is Non-contact between couple unless living at the same address. There is no swapping of dance partners. We must maintain 1.5 metre distance between participants. We must have 4m2 per person. When seated you must stay seated in the same seat. The area is to be cleaned before and after the lessons including seats, tables, toilets and anything that may have been used during practice. We must have a COVID-19 Preparedness and Risk Management Plan that is available on the web. We will continue to communicate with you through emails and social media to keep you up to date as we become aware of any changes that may allow us to return to dance. We are aware that some other clubs are talking about returning but everyone has different circumstances and venues to us. The full Just Rock Ipswich Executive Committee held a committee meeting on Wednesday night the 17 June 2020. A couple of items from the meeting are:- 1. Club membership was discussed and a decision was made that anyone who held club membership at the time of the shutdown in March 2020 would receive full membership till August 2021. 2. The reintroduction of Car Cruises was discussed and will hopefully start again in the next couple of weeks. Members will be advised as soon as we have a date. 3. The sale of the Old Club Trailer was discussed. It had been offered up to club members a couple of times in the beginning of the year but there were no takers. A decision was made to offer it for sale on other media sites at the best price we can get for it. It is currently unregistered. We thank you for your support and understanding during this unprecedented time. We also appreciate your patience and we will communicate with you again as soon as possible. Please stay safe, look after yourselves and your fellow human beings. Thanking you Don Noble President of Just Rock Ipswich.
