21.01.2022 Community Fundraiser Enjoy a concert from Chris (Ka Long) Au, Concert Pianist, while raising funds for Arthritis NSW! After being diagnosed with Juvenile Rhe...umatoid Arthritis at the age of 15, the inflammation in the joints all over Chris's body forced him to stop playing piano for about a year until, thanks to the care of Dr. Jeffrey Chaitow, he was able to start playing again. During his time in Sydney, he would like share his music with you via charity concerts. The program will vary with each concert, details are as follows. Plus see a video of Chris in action - he's amazing! When: 20 February or 6 March, 2pm - 4pm Where: St Andrews Uniting Church, South Turramurra Tickets: Via Donation of an amount of your choosing on the link below, proceeds to Arthritis NSW. 17.01.2022 It's World Young Rheumatic Diseases Day - WORD Day! Juvenile idiopathic arthritis, or JIA, refers to all types of arthritis that affect children under 16 years ...of age. In Australia, there are over 6000 children and young people living with some form of arthritis, causing symptoms such as joint pain and swelling, joint stiffness, fatigue, skin rashes, fever, and generally feeling unwell. Paediatric rheumatic diseases are often misdiagnosed or overlooked, even though there are many treatment options available. 13.01.2022 It's one week until WORD DAY, 18 March This day, WORLD YOUNG RHEUMATIC DISEASES DAY, raises awareness and knowledge to help first and foremost in early dia...gnosis of young rheumatic diseases. Learn more here: https://wordday.org/about-word-day/ In Australia about 6000 children are affected by arthritis (JIA) making it as common as Type 1 diabetes in children under 16 years of age. Another 4,000 children are affected by other rheumatic conditions (conditions which affect the joints, bones, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and muscles). Awareness and early diagnosis are important so that these children get the treatment they need.

Visit the link below and complete our an expression of interest form. Camp Twinkletoes is an annual event designed to help families caring for young children with juvenile arthritis. The program has four essential elements: Education for parents - talks by health professionals such as paediatric rheumatologist, clinical psychologist and paediatric nurse For the child with juvenile arthritis - age appropriate mix of self management strategies and fun activities Opportunity for whole family bonding Experience-sharing between families For a family with a newly diagnosed child, the future is uncertain. It included a story about juvenile arthritis... yes kids get arthritis too and they are in much need of medical servic...es that are currently lacking for the 6000 children in Australia with the condition. Australia, and in particular NSW, has below international standards (and other juvenile conditions) of specialist services available to them. Watch the story below. There is a lot of pain associated with the condition for these kids, they deserve better government funding for faster diagnosis and effective treatment.
