25.01.2022 I had a bit of a splurge @openstudiossunshinecoast yesterday. I had so much fun visiting the studios of @wayne.studio5 @denisedaffaraart @teresaseasel & @loujaegerart meeting the artists and seeing where they work. I found it really inspiring. I studied art at college many years ago and in my third year had to specialise in one subject. I was so torn between painting and textiles that I was even given an extra couple of weeks to make the decision. I chose textiles in the end and haven’t really painted since. I’ve always said I will come back to it one day but feel it’s something I need to really immerse myself in. I think that times not far away. @openstudiossunshinecoast is still running on the coast today.

23.01.2022 I’ve been getting ready for next weeks @thehandmadeexchange market today If you need a handmade fix before then the first market of this month is on now. Just pop on over to their Handmade Exchange Events page on FB.

23.01.2022 Exciting post turned up today! Beautiful leather monstera leaves cut by the wonderful Emma @smart_artists Emma & I met about three years ago and I couldn’t have found a better person to collaborate with. Always full of ideas and open to new ones. It takes a lot of trial and error to get the cuts and etchings just right but we always get there in the end. ... Can’t wait to start turning these into useable designs to treasure. #monsteraleaves #leatherhandbags #handcraftedhandbags #inspiredbynature

23.01.2022 I’ve been working on a customer order in the Monstera leaf design today. It’s funny to think that growing up in the UK I only ever saw these plants indoors. Now, they grow in my garden here in QLD If you’d like a bag made with a particular design on the front or a different colour don’t hesitate to ask and I’ll do my best to achieve the result you’re looking for.... #leatherhandbag #handcraftedbag #australianhandmade #monsteraleaves

22.01.2022 And then it came to be..... When I was studying at the London College of Fashion years ago my dream was to have my own fashion label in the UK. If someone had told me then that I’d be living in Australia making leather handbags I would never have believed them. Funny how things turn out. What was/is your dream? Did it come true? Handbag available @malenyhandmade market. ... Saturday & Sunday 8am - 3pm Maleny community centre #handcraftedbags #leatherbag #mandala

22.01.2022 Birds and butterflies make me happy. I could sit and watch them all day. I’m thinking that I should make some more purses in this beautiful print for the upcoming @malenyhandmade market Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th April. What do you think?

21.01.2022 This has been my view for the best part of the week so far. I’ve been frantically listing all my items in my #etsy store so they’re all ready for the Brisbane Etsy Made Local market this Friday & Saturday. This is definitely not my favourite job but I’m quite pleased that my Etsy shop is now looking a lot healthier. If you live in Brisbane @brisbaneetsymadelocal are also having a stall at the @vendmarketplace Christmas twilight market on Saturday 5pm -9pm where there’ll be a... selection of various artists works for sale. I’ll be there helping out and would love to see you there. Back onto technical stuff, if you click on the highlighted link in my bio you can then choose to go to either my website or my Etsy page Both shops have free postage on the majority of products (but not all) Australia only. Gifts can be sent directly to the recipient and wrapping is also available until Christmas too. #brisbaneetsymadelocal #onlinemarket #handcraftedbags

21.01.2022 ‘I paint self portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best ‘ Quote - Frida Kahlo These handy little Frida purses will be available in the upcoming @brisbaneetsymadelocal online market. They are great for keeping your handbag organised. You can use them for lipstick, oils, tablets, coins and the list goes on..... and they make a great gift ... Market hours are this coming Friday 27th 12pm - Saturday 28th 6pm #brisbaneetsymadelocal #onlinemarket #fridakahlo

19.01.2022 We had an awesome afternoon in Noosa yesterday. We hired a pontoon bbq boat and meandered up the river, did a spot of fishing, had dinner on deck and then headed on back. We then finished off the day watching the sunset and hundreds of bats flying over Noosa Northshore from the top floor of the @noosaboathouse Perfect! The most amazing part though was that everyone (except myself) caught some fish. We never catch anything!

18.01.2022 The next @handmadecanberra market is on this coming Saturday. I’m not a part of this one but thought I’d share this post as it’s a great reminder of how to support small handmade businesses any time. Give feedback and encourage them. Share their posts. Leave a good review on Facebook or Google. Tell all your friends in real life. Follow them on social media. Last but not least, shop in the virtual online markets. I for one will be dropping in this weekend to have a look around. So many talented artisans to shop with

16.01.2022 Although restrictions are being eased in greater Brisbane as far as mask wearing is concerned, they will still be needed in certain situations, so I thought I’d remind you that there are some available online to order as well as @peaceofgreengallery in Maleny. I also thought I’d share this wonderful review I got from a lovely customer who bought some masks before Christmas. Swipe to see her lovely words and find out why she was so happy with her purchase

16.01.2022 I can lose myself in sewing some days. It doesn’t happen often enough though. There are so many different hats that you have to wear as a small business owner. In the past if I hadn’t sewn anything for a day I felt I hadn’t ‘worked’ but I realise now that I need to put time into all the elements of the business, not just the making. This piece wasn’t completed today but I can’t wait to show you the end result when it is.

16.01.2022 Working on some more leather cup bands for the gorgeous keep cups from @glasshousepottery today. I think the bit that takes me the longest is deciding what colours to put on which cups . There’s nothing better than drinking your coffee (or chai tea in my case) out of a beautifully handcrafted ceramic cup. It just always seems to taste better somehow. These particular cups will be available @peaceofgreengallery in the next few days.

15.01.2022 I took a little trip to Yandina yesterday to meet the lovely Emma from @smart_artists for lunch. Obviously we were discussing work Whilst there we also visited what I think is one of my favourite shops at the moment @cedar_and_vine and I found this beautiful fringed basket, a new home for my newly repotted monstera plant. Of course, my next step was to actually make a couple of monstera purses you can just see here. These ones are heading to @peaceofgreengallery but I’ll be listing them on the website soon.

15.01.2022 Flashback travel Friday! Quite some years ago my dad used to own a villa in Portugal. I only went there once but I remember the beautiful coves embraced by high rock faces, some of which you actually walked through tunnel like paths to get to the beach. What memories do you have of somewhere you’ve travelled to?

14.01.2022 Whilst sipping on a chai and flicking through the local paper this morning I came across this ad for the @malenyhandmade market featuring one of my leather handbags. This event is only two weeks away at the Maleny community centre. Mark it in your diaries now..... Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th April.

14.01.2022 Do you like to protect your phone? These new purses are big enough to accommodate any phone size. After recently upgrading to a bigger phone myself I needed something slightly wider so I could slip my phone in and out with ease. This beautiful bright #gustavklimt design will be available @malenyhandmade market this coming weekend. #malenycommunitycentre ... Saturday & Sunday 8am - 3pm See more

14.01.2022 Happy Easter from Rathdowney! Wishing you a wonderful weekend with family and friends eating chocolate and chilling.

13.01.2022 Today was always going to be pretty unproductive in the workroom as I had a hair appointment booked in the middle of the day. So when I had to drop my daughter off at dancing at 7.30am followed by a pick up in Caloundra I decided to make the most of the coast and have breakfast overlooking the water and a walk along the beach. It was glorious! So good for the soul And to top it off I’ve even got some #fridakahlo purses made to take to @peaceofgreengallery tomorrow. A good day all round really. How was yours?

12.01.2022 I know it’s blowing my own trumpet but I just had to share this lovely message that Nullarbor Nights Knitwear sent me yesterday after receiving one of my bags. When I read it I felt all warm & fuzzy inside It gives me great joy to know that someone loves my work as much as I enjoy designing and making it. Thank you

12.01.2022 How to do lockdown when you’re supposed to be flying to NSW tomorrow to meet your son who has his first day of leave since starting his training in the army. I am currently wishing soooo much that I had not visited greater Brisbane over the last week but hey who can predict the manoeuvres of Covid?

12.01.2022 Lazy Sunday mornings. I’m just trying to build up some enthusiasm to do some more sorting around the house & a bit of work after spending last night catching up with beautiful friends @wobblywoman It wasn’t a late night but feeling very lethargic this morning.

11.01.2022 The Lookbook for the Brisbane Etsy Made Local market is ready! It's a great guide to browse through to see all the wonderful artists taking part from tomorrow. The best bit is that if you click on a photo you like it will take you straight to that item in their shop. How good's that!? Just click on the link below to have a look :-) Friday 27th 12 noon - Saturday 28th 6pm

11.01.2022 It feels a bit like déjà vu. It’s about this time last year I started making masks. I hadn’t made any for sometime but now we all need to wear them here in Qld it looks like they’ll be in demand again. If you’re chasing a mask look out for the green glass head and basket @peaceofgreengallery tomorrow. Made of four layers, two 100% cotton, two interlining, adjustable ear elastics and a nose wire for a perfect fit. #reusablemasks... #fabricmasks #masks See more

09.01.2022 I’ve been working on a new style bag today. I’ve had a customer request for a tote and thought it was about time I added one to the collection again. It’ll suit all you ladies who like to carry lots of ‘stuff’ with you. Or, it could be good as a work bag, big enough to fit a tablet in. Well, it’s looking like the sun will be shining here, so time to have some weekend family fun before my son disappears into the army in about three weeks time. Big changes afoot. #leathertote... #kangarooleather #tanleather #leathetartisan See more

07.01.2022 It’s all in the details Every now and then I try to make some simpler designs but I’m just never satisfied unless they’ve got that added interest to them. It could be the etching, a cut out, studs, the type of lining or in this case the lacing through the strap. Just a little something that makes them unique. Photography @christinalowryphotography ... 06.01.2022 This collection of masks arrived @bbrehab this week. I was informed that the staff all loved them, thank you. If you need a mask they are available online (hit the shop now above) There are a couple of designs available, one with adjustable ear elastics and the other with around the head elastic. All have four layers, two 100% cotton and two non woven interlining. The pleats are double stitched and they also have a nose wire for a great fit.

06.01.2022 I have always used the fern leaf cutouts standing upwards but whilst playing around the other day decided I liked it hanging down. Different view = different outcome. This beautiful red kangaroo leather bag can be found @peaceofgreengallery The perfect size for all the essentials.

06.01.2022 It was over two years ago now that I traveled to Japan. It had a huge influence on what I designed when I returned. These cute origami purses were one of those designs. There is no stitching in these small ones at all, just folds and rivets to create three internal sections. The last few of the peacock and tribal design are listed tonight in the @handmadeexchange.com online market. ... If you’re not a member of their events page on FB yet just pop on over and join the group to buy all Australian handmade products at special VIP prices.

06.01.2022 I had the pleasure of having my daughter work with me today. I got a whole hour out of her! This is not a common occurrence and it could be another year before it happens again, so if you’re one of the few that gets to buy one of these skirts in the new #frida cactus garden print just remember you’re incredibly privileged to of had your skirt cut out by Jasmine

06.01.2022 Stock’s slowly coming together, ready for the new venue. All will be revealed tomorrow

05.01.2022 What did you get up to today? After procrastinating about what colour to paint this timber gramophone cabinet & still being undecided, I got the urge to move the green sofa from under the window. Once one piece had been moved though everything needed moving! ... Anyway, I’m pretty pleased with the finished arrangement & got to complete the day with a brisk walk along the boardwalk in Caloundra Still undecided about the paint colour though

05.01.2022 Some days things just flow, others they don’t. This little lot has been on my table all day and I’ve played around with what I thought I wanted to do but it just wasn’t happening for me. I know I have to trust in the process and walk away if it’s not working which I eventually did, but it’s very hard to do when you have a big market coming up and need stock. I’m sure I’ll either wake in the early hours knowing exactly what I’m going to do with this bag or it’ll get ditched ...for another time. Either way tomorrow will be more productive, that’s just the way it goes. #leatherbags #handcraftedbags

05.01.2022 Just a little bit of my space @peaceofgreengallery The gallery I display my work in is situated in Maleny. It’s a collective of artists and has been running for twenty seven years this year! I think I’ve been a member for around five of those. It’s a great way to be able to sell my work and get to meet the customers too as every artist has to work about two days a month.

04.01.2022 Was it a light only she could see? A Gypsy’s spell? A mystery? Quote by Mary Chapin Carpenter I think I have a bit of the Gypsy spirit in me. I love travelling around and can make myself feel at home wherever I land. ... 04.01.2022 Flashback travel Friday! This time last year we were on holiday in New Zealand. We have friends on the north island that we had the pleasure of staying with and at the time they were building a house at this precise spot. The views were amazing. It’s a bit lost in this photo but underneath that big sky was another layer of cloud sitting just over the snow capped mountains in the distance. ... Heavenly

03.01.2022 After an outing for breakfast this morning I’ve been getting a few extra hours of purse sewing in so I’m all ready for next weekends @malenyhandmade market. One of the new fabrics I’m using is an artist print of #alphonsemucha He was a Czech painter, illustrator and graphic artist that lived in Paris during the Art Nouveau period and was best known for his decorative theatrical posters.

02.01.2022 If only I could make the skirts as quickly as this! I was itching to make a new bag today but in my wisdom (yeah I know) I decided it would be best to clear the table and make what’s already cut out ready to go. This little video is almost from start to finish. The bits where I’m missing I’m either overlocking or ironing. ... These will be the first of the newly made skirts for summer to head up to @peaceofgreengallery in the next few days.

01.01.2022 This bag never tires, always a favourite and so beautiful with the monstera leaf design. Putting the main bag together is probably the easiest part of construction even with the zipped pocket on the back.

01.01.2022 I’m feeling pretty happy with what I’ve achieved this weekend. I’ve planted some new veggies, re-potted some of the house plants, caught up with friends and got some purses made too Not much actual sorting got done today as planned but that really comes under the ‘tidying’ banner. Something that can always wait in my eyes You’ll find this #fridakahlo purse listed in @thehandmadeexchange market tomorrow night. Starts at 7pm over on their FB events page.

01.01.2022 Well, I can finally reveal my big news! I’m very excited to let you know that you can now find a small range of Juwel @vendmarketplace in Virginia, Brisbane.
