The world was always off kilter to me, now it’s a different more frantic kind of erratic .. so I just keep mixing.. grateful for a husband that encourages me do my thing & cuts a very cool arse groove to the beat, and my daughter who lives 150 kms away who squeals with happiness and cheers me on via cyber space when I upload a new set.. 07.01.2022 https://www.mixcloud.com/JuzzyJones/the-spirit When I make a mix it takes time ; to listen to new tunes, to prep the tracks with cue points and I strive to not use the same tune twice .. when I began 18 months ago I was so overwhelmed when I fell into the abyss of music .. Which Genre ? What are the cool kids listening to ? I listen to my mixes in headphones doing housework, driving in the car often extending the trip to play out the mix so I can hear if the transitions work ..... I name my mixes after one of the tracks or if it’s for an event then it’s named after the event .. I’m really resonating with Melodic House & Techno .. it’s a deep sea dive into an altered mood .. a slowing down of brain waves whilst uplifting your spirit .. This is ‘The Spirit’ .. 05.01.2022 Happy Easter .. I played this for mum enroute to her regular transfusion .. I saw her left shoulder start to pump and she said ‘oh this is very uplifting .. reminds me of a nightclub, of dancing, drinks and cigarettes !’

When lockdown kicked in I started to mix this and the 1st version reflected my state of mind in that it didn't flow and was disjointed. I was stressed to the point of extreme facial pain, and weekly trips to the hospital with mum for her transfusions had that insane edge of being out in the scary COVID world with a precious human with a compromised immune system. Mum liked the sound of this mix, she shoulder pumped on the way to the hospital, wanting me to stop the car so she could dance. She said 'Oo, this reminds me of nightclubs, dancing and cigarettes'. I know she would love the new upbeat punchy sound of this.
