If you are interested in attending or would like more information please email [email protected] The camp is at Camp Clayton Turners Beach which is on the north west coast. Arrival at the camp is on Friday 17th and departure is by 12.00 on Sunday 19th. Accommodation and meals will be supplied as well as fun activities. We are calling for registrations from parents of children with disabilities to att...end our first Starfish Nippers Come & Try program. It will provide an opportunity for young people with disabilities to meet their peers in fun and relaxed environment whilst building the confidence of all involved in the beach environment. There will also be opportunities for parents/ guardians to connect with other families and parents of children with disabilities. Program details: Date: Sunday 26th March 2017 Time: 10am 11.30pm Duration: 1.5 hours Venue: Long Beach, Sandy Bay, Hobart Ages: 6 and above The program requires to one parent/ support person per child to attend. There is no cost to attending the inaugural Starfish Nippers Come & Try day at Sandy Bay. However, registration numbers are limited, so register now to avoid disappointment. ParaQuad Association of Tasmania, and Physical Disability Sports Tasmania have launched Tasmania’s newest sports program of power wheelchair sports and is currently looking for more aspiring sports players living with disability. ParaQuad’s Northern Regional Coordinator, Tori Wardlaw said, ‘we have already had a few young men join, playing a range of sports such as power football, hockey, soccer and rugby and it is so much fun, yet a fierce competition. All sports are played on an indoor basketball court and are specifically designed for people who use power wheelchairs for daily mobility. Tori Wardlaw said, ‘To play the sports, participants do not require physical strength and mobility because the powered wheelchair does all the work.’. ParaQuad and PDST have aspirations to establish a statwide team to join the National Club Championships scheduled to occur in Sydney in October 2021. Tori Wardlaw said, ‘We need more players to establish a statewide team and competition. Power wheelchair sports are a huge success across the nation and its time for Tasmania to join in.’ It’s a great opportunity for people with a disability to develop football skills, meet new people, and have a lot of fun! 01.01.2022 ParaQuad Tasmania is asking for expression of interest from parents/support people of children with physical disability who would like to participate in the K Sport Ten Pin Bowling League in the Launceston area. The league will be held fortnightly at Launceston Lanes Kings Meadow. The league will be held over 12 weeks. Competitors would have to bowl 1 game on 4 of the six weeks to be eligible for medals.
