24.01.2022 Which is better, Organic or Grassfed? Depends on why you want to pay more for your meat. It is not just a term, it is a requirment... The only reason why I woul...d spend extra money on grassfed is to lower inflammation in my body and heal faster. Don't forget about dinner on March 3rd... If you live near boise, save a seat. If you live far away, watch online. Link is in my bio to sign up. www.drstevenbaker.com/dinner Disclaimer: Dr. Baker is a chiropractor. He is not currently a rancher and is not here to sell you beef. 22.01.2022 Ok - that was big! Food Agribusiness Network FAN hosted a FANtastic event over 10 hours yesterday at a hanger at the Sunshine Coast Airport called Meet the Makers. There seemed to be over 500 delegates from the food industry (mainly) looking for suppliers into restaurants, cafes, independent grocers, pubs, tourism establishments and just about any other business that is food related.... The highlight (apart from the prospect of being able to supply to some high end restaurants and a few food stores interested in Organic food produced locally using regenerative management techniques), was the two fantastic ladies who were vego / vegan and decided it was time to eat our pasture fed, Certified Organic beef- RAW! (Well carpaccio- close enough). I’m learning that although some people are vegans for health reasons, for the majority there are ethical beliefs that have forced them to turn to monoculture, chemically farmed and primarily imported and genetically altered Soy-based alternatives. When our production system ethics around regeneration, low food miles, soil improvement, diversity and mimicking nature, is explained, the walls come down. If you are a vegan for ethical reasons and are genuinely interested in learning about the food system you are subscribing to Vs what regeneratively farmed, pasture fed, organic livestock production is all about-please come and visit us Kandanga Farm Store as we’d love to show you around. Thanks again to Sunshine Coast Foodie for being a great PR person and all the media who were there covering the event like ABC Landline 7NEWS Sunshine Coast ZINC FM WIN News Sunshine Coast ABC Sunshine Coast Sunshine Coast Daily and so on! #meetthemaker2021 #regenerativeagriculture #veganfriendlybeef #organic
22.01.2022 The calm before the storm! After Friday’s fantastic local lunch at Kin Kin’s Black Ant Cafe with K2 Organic Beef brisket a highlight of Jodie’s 3-course food extravaganza (and some great hosting by Sunshine Coast Foodie and Phil from Country Noosa Noosa and District Landcare with many fellow producers and Slow Food Noosa members; I had the tough task of getting back in time for the monthly New Moon Dinner at Kandanga Farm Store - again featuring our beef in Chef Sam’s Thai in...spired banquet. A hectic weekend at the Farm Store & Cafe hasn’t given us too much reflection time before tomorrow’s big Food Agribusiness Network FAN industry showcase event- #meetthemaker #meetthemaker2021 at the Sunshine Coast Airport. K2 Organic Beef will be featured so if you are attending please call by to try Carpaccio grass fed eye fillet. If you aren’t familiar (like I wasn’t until today), this is the equivalent of Sashimi if we were talking fish (that’s right- uncooked!) I wasn’t convinced at first, but what better way really for people to taste the difference when there is no cooking to hide behind! Please join us tomorrow and experience the difference that Grassfed, Certified Organic beef offers. Once you try you may never go back! Ask for us by name at Organic food stores supplied by United Organics or order 1/4 bulk packs now. #organic #regenerativeagriculture #grassfedbeef

18.01.2022 Nothing beats home cooking and buying in bulk means you can eat the best beef every night without breaking the bank. You can eat Certified Organic & Grassfed & Finished beef whenever you want by stocking your freezer with a 1/4 body this month at a special introductory price. For just $19.50/kg you get 1/4 of all the beef cuts from one of our prime organic steers.... All cuts are cryovaced in approximately 1kg packs and ready to go straight into the freezer without the wastage you get trying to package your own. It’s economical because you don’t pay for dog bones, you don’t pay for cheap sausage meal, curing done without nitrates and there isn’t excessive fat to be trimmed off. This is restaurant quality beef used by some of Australia’s top chefs. Food miles are lower than most supermarket visits, and stock are produced in an ideallic, regenerative, low stress situation. From the lush pastures of the Mary Valley to you. Send a PM for more information or to reserve your 1/4 (approximately 40kg) as this offer finishes April 9, 2021. (For delivery later in April). Thanks for supporting local farmers!
17.01.2022 K2 Beef on the menu- be there!
15.01.2022 Today (2-years on from the filming of this video) we are testing the spring menu at Kandanga Farm Store for the full cafe opening next weekend. K2 beef will feature both in the current basic weekday menu (best sausage rolls EVER) but also in Elliot’s great NEW full weekend menu (from next weekend 8-2). So many of the farmers / customers of BOS RURAL Supplies featured on this clip will be there today with produce featuring on the new menu also. Can’t wait to see everyone out at Kandanga and BRING YOUR ESKY because once you’ve tasted our food and seen how it’s produced, you’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t take home a boot full!
15.01.2022 This article pretty much wraps it up.... (K2 even gets a mention!) (Thanks Mick Alexander) https://chriskresser.com/why-pasture-raised/
14.01.2022 Running animals isn’t all about producing ethical meat, we are also regenerating land. It’s not all lush, green pasture. Meat, like all natural food, is seasonal. We can manage things by turning off more stock n the growing season than in the non-growing, but supporting pasture-fed systems is about supporting environmental regeneration.

13.01.2022 Get your marrow! The things we (often) disregard in western diets are the most important. Bone marrow (currently has n the menu Kandanga Farm Store) contains a hormone called Adiponectin (that breaks down fats). It can maintain insulin sensitivity & is linked to a lower risk of diabetes, heart disease and many cancers.... Bone marrow is full of collagen (bones & skin) and has glucosamine for fighting osteoarthritis & joint inflammation. Vitamins: Riboflavin, Iron, Vit E, Phosphorus, B12.... Beef Broth from Boneafide uses K2 Organic beef bones in their broth products or order your beef bones at Kandanga this week! #paleo #bones

12.01.2022 Egrets are the primary parasite control used at Kandanga Farm. Sounds silly, but using nature to solve our problems saves money & means we can produce food without poison.

12.01.2022 Now we’re talking!
11.01.2022 We developed these bags at Kandanga Farm to assist getting a fine grade crushed rock product called Absorbacide onto our cattle as it’s a safe, certified organic insecticide that gets our buffalo fly numbers to a level that is essential for the animal husbandry of our cattle. Happy cattle are fat cattle and in summer, buffalo fly is one of our biggest pests. 3 years on and the #BosBag is an overnight, chemical free success sold through Rural Resellers like Elders (and many ot...her Australian Owned independent shops in the AIRR group mainly). People are realising that some home-grown solutions are much cleverer than imported, post - war poisons. Bos Bags are made in the local upholstery shop a few k’s down the road, are refillable and provide one of the only ways to apply non-chemical insecticide onto animals. This post wasn’t at our place but it reminded me that with the rain yesterday and the warm weather, bags need filling ready for the inevitable upcoming fly season. Unlike chemical treatments, there are no resistance issues with this physical contact method, so if we get our bags out now and keep on top of the flies early, cattle will self-medicate (rub on the bags) throughly the season and stop the bothersome buggers! https://www.bosrural.com.au/chemical-free-fly-control-bos-b

10.01.2022 What a problem to have! The Biggest Little Farm, if you haven’t seen it, was a film that really bought the message of #regenerativeagriculture home. 07.01.2022 Regenerative Agriculture- the way we run our livestock is about focusing on soil and using the tools we have (in our case primarily cattle) to regenerate our ecosystem (with a great by-product of Certified Organic, Grassfed, nutrient dense beef). This has been a difficult message to convey to customers and even other Livestock producers, many of which see production as a trade-off with the environment. This is not how our plants and soil micro biome have developed- everyth...ing relies on animals to be part of the system. Cropping systems lack diversity as they don’t recognise the complexity of evolution and instead try to manufacture a minimalist environment to make it easier to grow one thing. It’s been fantastic then to attend the Land to Market Savory Institute conference this week in Albury. Harris Farm Market (with the biggest supermarket you’ve ever seen in Albury) is signing up Regen Ag suppliers as they see this as the way the powerful millennial market (in particular) is heading. Great to see Provinier Mobile Abattoirs prioritising regenerative suppliers (organic would be nice too!). Enhanced traceability in the form of QR code’s making it easier for customers to see how their beef (and hides) are produced. Lots to learn but there’s definitely a shift in the market to Grassfed (Pasturefed), Regenerative and ideally Certified Organic. #regenerativeagriculture
06.01.2022 Certified Organic support group!
06.01.2022 What's the go with K2? #highereating #organicgrassfedbeef
06.01.2022 Where are the farmers? There’s no such thing as cheap food. You get what you pay for- no cheating. If your meat is retailing at $15/kg- and a supermarket is selling it taking a margin, there’s something going on- because cattle ain’t that cheap! Buy Grassfed, buy Organic, insist on no additives/nitrates or sausage meal and eat food as it was intended.... Supermarkets and butcher shops don’t grow meat, FARMERS DO. Supermarkets and vege shops don’t grow vegetables nor the grains, pulses and other inputs into alternative protein foods- FARMERS DO. The labs making highly processed foods put in the shelves (because they are higher margin and longer shelf life) don’t grow the food- FARMERS DO. Make sure these OUTLETS and value adders know the full details of how your food is produced before you put it down your throat. What could be more important? Pay for nutrition or pay for healthcare.
06.01.2022 K2 Beef is Certified Organic & Grassfed. Produced locally & ethically using low stress, regenerative animal & land management systems in the Mary Valley, Qld. Australia. Why the weird name? Vitamin K is a group of fat-soluble vitamins recognised as being some of the most important to human health. The most effective and nutritionally important is vitamin K2. ... K2 binds to free-floating calcium - clearing it from the arteries where it accumulates and calcifies, and pushing it into the bones. This improves bone density and body composition, as well as benefiting heart and oral health. Vitamin K2 is present in animal organs & fats from non-grainfed livestock and some fermented foods. Weston A. Price considers K2 the missing link vitamin as most western livestock, dairy, poultry & aquaculture production systems now use grain in some way which eliminates K2. 1/4 body packs now available for delivery after Easter. A 1/4 share of all cuts just $19.50/kg (approximately 40kg- cryovaced). This is an introductory price for pick up only Kandanga Farm Store). In the 1/4 pack, you don’t pay for broth bones, sausage meal, nitrates or other impurities. Certified Organic & 100% Grassfed. PM for more details or to reserve your pack now as this is a very limited offer.

01.01.2022 They might look scary but Weaning Rings are a great tool used for a few weeks in reducing stresses associated with weaning calves. Most importantly the application of weaning rings keeps herds together which enables the maximum recovery time for pastures in this slow-growing time of the year (in northern Australia). Without having to feed large calves (6-9 month old weaners), mothers can improve condition ready for their next calving in a few months time.... We re-use this type of ring up to 9 or 10 seasons (there are cheap ones that are hopeless), with weaners’ weight gains reflecting the lower weaning stress to the tune of 20-30kg/head difference to conventional weaning. (Not to mention fewer damaged fences, long yard feeding costs and noisy nights usually associated with weaning time). In a few weeks the rings are removed and mothers are weaned off their calves (rather than the other way around). Weaners are then trained to fences, lick feeders and yards without the stresses of forced removal. https://www.bosrural.com.au/easy-wean-nose-rings-2-4 EasyWean Noserings

06.10.2021 Great time of year, not only are we calving and our contours are full with the great storms we’ve had, but microbes are being spread (and we see the benefits of past years applications with fungi now popping up everywhere we leave fallen branches & timber in our paddocks- no burning this valuable resource!). We are also planting BOS RURAL Supplies cover crop mix (all uncoated, untreated multi species mix) and then mulching our valuable, soil repairing weeds. Thanks to Gilldo...ra Grove Rory’s new multi use aerator, planter & microbe spreader and Mary Valley Holdings mulcher making short work of our winter weeds now they’ve done their job. Plenty more to do but nice to have a season like this to reap the rewards of having a soil focus over the past few years at Kandanga Farm. We now have beef back in stock Kandanga Farm Store - Grassfed, certified organic, lowest food miles & regeneratively farmed. Taste the difference! #regenerativeagriculture #organicproducts #covercrop #realfoodfromrealfarms
