24.01.2022 Fantastic article thank you, Adelaide Hills Herald. Don't forget, those who would like to play a little doggy hide and seek, contact us to arrange a day.

24.01.2022 Millie training hard to perfect the 'hurry up and wait' part of search and rescue.

23.01.2022 Nice!! And so true!

22.01.2022 K9Aus Capabilities Inc has joined as a member of ASDF and have resolved to ensure to follow the Rules and Regulations as set forth by the Federation to ensure a Standardisation of Learnings and Assessments. Thus creating a stronger Canine Search Community to ensure that we no longer continue to just train, but to ensure that canines and handlers are deployed in their respective fields of expertise and that each associated Team can have Mutual Aid Agreements between all member...s, knowing they are all trained and assessed to the same standards. This is an exciting time and something that those who have met us and spent any time at our training meetings know is something that we have been working towards for many years. We are grateful to those who have spent their time and money and passion to build this federation and excited to join like-minded groups from around Australia to ensure the standard of training in both dog and handler, search technician and support team is consistent and at a level the community can be proud of. For more information on the federation go to https://searchdogfed.org/

22.01.2022 Big thank you to Nadia , Jacob and Jess for organising some night training mid this week (we have been just a tad busy with our training ). Was great to have an suburban type surrounding (houses out of shot) to work in and assistant Jacob was a star. Kufi (and all the doggos) stayed nice and focused.

21.01.2022 We will never forget

20.01.2022 Best wishes to all.

18.01.2022 The team training hard :-)

18.01.2022 Big shout out to The Pines Reserve for allowing us to have a training session.at this lovely location. Thank you very much, it is much appreciated. Great area which posed some interesting scent puzzles, the doggos did an awesome job, working around random human distractions and some sharp changes in terrain. Thanks Thomas for organising. https://www.thepineskapunda.com.au/

16.01.2022 Just another thing dogs can do.

16.01.2022 Thank you Adelaide Hills Herald for the great write up and awesome photos! https://www.facebook.com/AdelaideHillsHerald

16.01.2022 Had the honour of an interstate visit from the fabulous Ilse Duineveld from K9 Bellator International and Dave Wright from Dog Force Australia. Thank you very much guys, was lovely to meet and train with you and your doggos, so much knowledge and also so much fun....who could ask for more. Thanks to the Whyalla Sideshow Alley operators down at our gorgeous Whyalla foreshore for letting us run some dogs through as part of an exercise on the Friday, (they will be around until Australia day if anyone wants to visit!!). Following K9 pics are courtesy of Ilse from yesterday's training at Whyalla and today's session at Kapunda. WIth a few thrown in from us of the sideshow attractions.

15.01.2022 The team from K9Aus wish everyone a Merry Christmas and much happiness in the New Year! Thanks especially to our vet clinics, Greencross Wellington Road Mount Barker and Torrens Road Veterinary Clinic Croydon Park, all the wonderful people who have supported us and those volunteers who have become temporarily 'lost' for us. I personally want to thank the K9Aus team members for their exceptional commitment to our vision. And we hope that, above all, this coming year, those who are missing, might come home, and answers are found for families who are waiting.

15.01.2022 Just a quick thank you to Mandy Jones for completing the covid marshall course to keep K9Aus safe and compliant. Well done fitting it in with all your training and vet nursing work!!

15.01.2022 Great day training with the team at the Kapunda training grounds. Thanks guys! Pic of Kufi after a solid double blind 2km mantrail ending at the Kapunda Heritage trail and mine site. Several turns and decision points required with this trail and she completed it nicely.

14.01.2022 Happy International Dog Day everyone! A big thank you to our K9's. Even if they weren't the working stars that they are, our lives would be very much diminished if they weren't in it. When we are working we have to remember to 'Trust our dog', I am just glad that our guys don't seem to have to remember to trust their human, although they do give us a strange look every now and then when we do something weird! To all the dogs out there thanks for putting up with us and contributing much awesomeness to our lives.

07.01.2022 Happy 2nd Birthday Miska

05.01.2022 Nice bit of training in the Whyalla scrub this morning, amazing what you can find!! Some good fitness work and Kufi did some nice scent work with great results.

05.01.2022 A couple more photo's from today. See how 'Springy' and bendy these Springers are! Nice catch Dave!!

05.01.2022 Taking advantage of some work going on at a local oval today and here Nessie is being a good girl and learning to ignore the distraction of council workers and their noisy equipment. We really need our dogs to not be distracted by things happening around them, and continue on with their search.

02.01.2022 Hi everyone, just a heads up, especially for those travelling in these areas. Have a safe and Happy Christmas and New Year.

01.01.2022 Lovely meeting you guys and your dogs.

01.01.2022 The safety of our dogs is of our utmost importance! We cannot do our searches without our dogs, so we strive to keep them fit and healthy at all times. It is now coming up to the warmer months and snakes and grass seeds can be a major problem to our dogs! Unfortunately we can’t always see where the snakes are, but we do try to avoid the likely areas when possible. Grass seeds however we can usually see and avoid when possible, but sometimes it isn’t possible to avoid them, a...nd so our dogs are at risk of either getting one up their nose (sniffing for scent), in their ears or eyes and their paws are also at great risk from these pesky little grass seeds! If they get one, they have to have a general anaesthetic to have it removed, so when we cannot avoid the grass seeds, we will use boots for our dogs to protect their paws and special covering for their heads ( called an Outfox Field guard) Here is Nessie wearing her boots and another picture of her wearing her field guard. She is such a good little model!! See more

01.01.2022 Today Miska had her annual health check. This is done to ensure that she is fit to do her search work. Thank you to Dr. Alistair Douglas for doing Miska’s health check. And a bigger thank you to Torrens Road Vet Clinic in your support for our dogs making sure that they are fit enough for what they love doing most and that is finding the lost people.

01.01.2022 #DYK we have a dog named Cat? She’s such a good girl! Last week, PCSO received a call from the Bartow Police Department asking for help locating a missing juven...ile who had run away. She was last seen going north towards US Hwy 17. Master Deputy Roberts and his K-9 partner Cat showed up, and Cat put her nose to the ground. She tracked the girl’s scent from the youth center, south along Hwy 17, across Georgia Street, and to the north side of a church in a wooded area. There they found the little girl, who was on the ground screaming in pain - she injured her ankle running. Polk County Fire Rescue responded to assist and she's safely recovering. We'd like to give a special shout out to Linda Boles of Find-M' Friends, Inc. - seen here with the dynamic duo on the day she donated Cat (and three other bloodhounds) to our agency last August. If you see a bloodhound tracking, and you hear a deputy yelling "Cat!" don't worry - he hasn't lost his mind. #PCSO #K9Unit #TerryandCat #Bloodhounds #TheNoseKnows #GreatCatchCat #SuchAGoodGirl Bartow Police Department Polk County Fire Rescue Find-M' Friends, Inc.
