18.01.2022 What is K9 Nose works? Nosework is an activity that allows your dog to use their natural desire to hunt. It harnesses a dog's unique ability to detect scent and determine the source. This is an activity that can lead to lower levels of adrenaline and cortisone and increase endorphin release, leading to lower anxiety and calm behaviours that counteract the stress responses. Any breed of dog can participate in scent work. K9 Nose work classes are run so the dogs don't have any direct interaction with each other. One dog searches at a time, with rest breaks in between away from other dogs. Nervous, anxious and reactive dogs are able to participate in these classes.

16.01.2022 One of my all time favourite videos. A lovely explanation of why it's so important to give our dogs plenty of opportunities to sniff and why activities such as scentwork are so beneficial.

08.01.2022 Today Coco and I competed in L1C - Level 1 Element Trial Containers at North Rocks. This trial had 4 container searches set up. Each search only had 1 container that held the birch odour and your dog had to alert on the correct container. We were successful in all 4 searches and received our pass

04.01.2022 As we all know there has been a toilet paper shortage due to panic buying due to Covid -19. Not sure what toilet paper has to do with it but for those who did hoard toilet paper this is an activity called "Nose Works" that you could put to good use for all those toilet rolls that will accumulate over the next 6 months.

04.01.2022 The Container search requires good leash management and these teams were awesome this morning

03.01.2022 Ready for Odour work today
