25.01.2022 We had a great day at the ACSW Level 1 Element Specialty Container Trial hosted by K9 Nose Time on Saturday! There were 52 competitors with a 77% pass rate and a further 15% achieving 'a leg' to go towards the next L1C Trial. A big thank you to everyone involved, the competing teams, the CO and Judge and awesome volunteers. If you were there and have a photo please feel free to post it in the comments, we would love to see them!

24.01.2022 Entries for the L1I - Element trial Interiors, in Castle Hill, NSW on 25 Oct 2020, hosted by K9 NoseTime are now open. This event will be run according to NSW ...government health department Covid 19 requirements and may be cancelled at any time subject to changes with Covid 19 in NSW (if cancelled full refunds will be issued). Competitors enter here http://acsw.com.au/events/l1i_25oct20_nsw/ and volunteers enter here http://acsw.com.au/events/l1i_25oct20_nsw_v/ *** Important note *** ACSW Event Format Change With the Covid-19 situation in NSW slowly improving, ACSW is happy to introduce a new operational format to maintain good covid-19 safety standards, while at the same time encouraging more ORT’s and Element Specialty trials. Starting September 2020, entries into Element trials and ORT’s will see the competitors divided into three separate groups, based on their running order. This will enable us to stagger the number of people attending at one time, helping us to maintain social distancing. For example, if the ORT has 32 registered entries, once the running order is assigned, the first 11 competitors will be asked to arrive first thing in the morning (8:30 to sign in for a 9am start). The second group of competitors with running order numbers 12 to 23, will be asked to arrive and sign in by 10:00 for an approximately 10:30 start. And finally, if you are in the third group of competitors with running order numbers from 24 to 32, you will be asked to arrive at 11:30 for a 12:00 start. We hope this new format will enable more opportunities for everyone to enjoy more Nose Work fun. We also recommend that before entering any ACSW event, you check with the governments most recent updated covid-19 information to ensure you are able to attend. If there are any changes to the restrictions and you are unable to attend, your host or ACSW will give you a full refund of your entry fee.

24.01.2022 NOT TO BE MISSED AMY HEROT, CPDT KA, NACSW Co-Founder ONE DAY ONLY, COACHING DAY... Tuesday March 24, 2020 Time: 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Check in and set-up 8:30 a.m. Address 5 Harris Road, Dural, NSW Every level of trial relies on the same foundational skills. Balancing the foundation with layered challenges should be an integral part of your training program. This coaching day will focus on a range of adaptable exercises that allow dog and handler to stretch, and then cement concepts which are applicable at any level of competition. Discussion around the training exercise and your program will illustrate how to adjust and adapt for your individual team. How can you advance your dog/handler team through the NW levels and achieve your personal best? What kind of exercises can you be working on to build more skill and overcome any challenges? Through hands-on activities this coaching day will allow handlers to get personalized coaching with regard to their dog, style and experience. Participating teams can be intermediate through Elite. A title is not required, but dogs should have strong odour obedience. Dogs who have less experience or understanding of odour, or are environmentally sensitive or aggressive with people would not be well suited for this type of coaching day Registration: https://www.k9nosetime.com/upcoming-events/ 12 working spots @ $200 each and 12 Auditing spots @ $100 each First in best dressed

17.01.2022 Potential great Nose Worker! Great video of dog moving single nostril. Is she scenting to her surroundings (like we do when we nap but try to stay aware of whats happening near by) or is it just a functional movement from the rise and fall of her chest - breathing. All opinions welcome. Either way, she's got a great nose! Jazz will be available for adoption soon through Fetching Dogs

14.01.2022 So excited that the NACSW (National Association of Canine Scent Work is making this great webinar available to the public) WEBINAR: Stress Matters: Impact of Fear and Anxiety on Learning WEBINAR: Stress Matters: Impact of Fear and Anxiety on Learning INSTRUCTOR: Chris Pachel, DVM DACVB CABC... DATE: Wednesday July 1st, 2020 TIME: 11:00am - 12:30pm Pacific Time USA time - (we recommend you sign up for the recorded version) WEBINAR DESCRIPTION: The process of learning is affected by many different factors, including the emotional state of the individual. By reading the body language of dogs and making appropriate interpretations, we can better understand their emotional state and their ability to respond to training exercises. This presentation will cover many of the body language signals that dogs are likely to show when stressed, fearful or anxious. Perhaps even more importantly, extensive information will be included about how this emotional state directly impacts the process of learning and the effect on a plan or the animal’s response to specific exercises. Strategies such as making adjustments to reinforcement value, refining aspects of the stimulus gradient during desensitization and counterconditioning exercises, altering performance expectations, and setting realistic criteria for success will be covered. COST: $30 for CNWI, ANWI, PNWI $40 for General Public (this includes those who have registered for an instructor course but have not yet attended Segment 1) CEUs: 3 for CNWI Full information can be found at http://k9nosework.com/webinar-stress-matters-impact-fear-an

05.01.2022 Fun day at the Inaugural Element Trial. It was a level 1 Interiors Trial with 4 separate Interior searches. Lots of fun and much faster with no walkthroughs at the start and ribbons handed out (if you passed) as each individual finished. Also great that Element trials enable competitors to get a "leg" towards a title if they only missed by 25%. We hope everyone had a good time but most importantly win or miss, we hope you had fun with your dog.
