19.01.2022 A timely reminder that now the Spring warmer weather is here, victorian snakes are out enjoying the sunshine also This Red Bellied Black Snake was spotted basking on a road in Gippsland the other day, it quickly darted off into the bushes as the car approached. Can you see it near the fence line? This public holiday is a good day to clean up any clutter that is around your yard (they are good hidey holes for snakes), mow your grass and keep it short. If you are walking dog...s please keep them on a lead. Hope everyone enjoys their cup day!

16.01.2022 We have quite a few new followers this year! I thought it would be a great time to introduce the face behind the business. My name is Georgia, i have always loved animals since i was a baby (pictured here is my childhood dog, Mia the Murray River Retriever). I got Mia as a puppy when i was 12 years old and was immediately drawn to taking her to puppy school, obedience training and her vet visits. She lit a spark and i knew i wanted to devote my life to helping animals when... i was older. Whilst at university, i volunteered in wildlife rescue and Healesville Sanctuary. Once i graduated in 2015, I worked my way into a Vet clinic and have been working in the industry ever since as a Veterinary Nurse. I have since become fully qualified and have worked at a range of clinics, including an exotics specialist clinic and more recently a mixed animal practice. I have done odd jobs throughout the years such as working with sled dogs in the snow to reptile educational demonstrations. Canine Snake Avoidance Victoria was born after witnessing the horror and complexites of treating snake bitten dogs in clinic. Aswell as combining my love for reptiles and education. My goal and focus is to continue educating dogs and their humans on the importance of understanding and avoiding snakes

This is an incredible avoidance as at the beginning of her course, she went right up and sniffed the snake! Well Done Dolly

10.01.2022 Snakes are certainly out and about at the moment! Whilst we are out enjoying the beautiful spring weather - so are our reptilian friends. Remember if you see a snake, Stay calm and let is pass on its merry way. Snakes, like any animal, only feel the need to protect themselves when they feel threatened. ... A few things to keep in mind now that the weather is warming up: Mow your grass short Remove anything lying around that snakes will like to hide under Reduce the amount of water sources close to the house (on a hot day a snake loves a drink) Have your local snake catchers number saved on your phone, keep a safe distanced eye on it until they can arrive to relocate it Brush up on snake bite first aid, have compression bandages and know how to correctly use them Walk your dog on a lead in the bush Enrolling your dog in our snake avoidance training program could save their and your life Photo taken whilst we receny stayed at the beautiful Mallacoota Foreshore Holiday Park
