10.01.2022 Hello everyone! Well what a year 2020 has been. While we managed to keep some very limited one-on-one sessions going under strong COVID-19 protocols, sadly training sessions have now come to a halt. As most of you will be aware, I have been diagnosed with cancer and am currently undergoing treatment that makes it tricky to continue agility training sessions at the moment. ... In order to give myself the best possible chance of beating this beastie, as of the beginning of June I have taken leave of absence from work, K9T training and other commitments including the SA Agility Advisory Committee. I've got a super team supporting me and am hoping to be back in 3 months or so - and will be rearing to go!!! I have been bowled over by all the support to date - a BIG thank you to everyone. But for info, I am not checking Facebook nor attending to emails with any regularity. For those in the agility community who would like to connect, Helen Randall and Tina Comely have very kindly agreed to be a communication conduit. However, if you can bear with a possible delayed acknowledgement, I'd be delighted to receive SMS messages with photos or short videos of you and your dogs "doing their thing" - and even better, practicing or updating on skills!!... or other things that give a chuckle! Thanks to Dani who shared Donny the orphan lamb following Macdog over a jump today!! Gorgeous! If occasional options arise for some informal sessions, I'll be in touch with folks individually. But otherwise I'll be back SOON! In the meantime, take care everyone, enjoy your doggies, and make the most of sunshine when it peeks out. Cheers, Kerry

21.12.2021 As 2020 gets underway our thoughts are with all those affected by the devastating fires - people and animals. K9T Agility also joins in extending our deepest gratitude to all those who are contributing to response efforts - if everyone does a little bit, in what ever way they can, it can make a difference. In the midst of this, our 2nd small group canine conditioning class with Michelle (well-supported by Rogue and Tia!) from K9 Dynamics yesterday evening got us all inspired... and thinking in prep for the coming agility season - well-managed, valuable instruction - thank you Michelle! Lots to learn and practice! K9T Agility will be resuming agility training sessions from mid-February - stay tuned for further updates and I WILL be in personal contact soon to confirm appointments! In addition to regular training sessions there are plans for workshops (e.g. introduction to agility, crate games, techniques training etc) - and we are also be keen to liaise with K9 Dynamics to offer further canine conditioning classes (check out Michelle's FB page for further info on this!).

06.12.2021 K9T Agility held its end-of-year wrap-up event on Saturday - a mock trial and social gathering for peeps and pups alike! Wonderful to see the development of new and upcoming handlers and dogs, and to have some existing competitors join the event to showcase different styles and discuss challenges and strategies. Loved the sharing and collegiality among younger and older/newer and experienced agility people. Thanks to all who were able to participate on the day, and others wh...o contributed in various ways before and during the event (and were acknowledged on the day). Enjoy some of the photos, taken by Michael and Barry (and apologies that not everyone is represented!). Have a happy and safe festive season everyone, and we'll see you back again in February!

16.11.2021 This weekend just gone! Part 2 - Agility demo on Sunday at the Macclesfield Strawberry Fete! This was our third year, and once again we had a large crowd of highly engaged spectators. Thanks are extended to the Maccy Community Association and event organizers for giving us the opportunity to showcase agility centre-stage (or right in front on it!).... I would especially like to thank co-organizer Helen Randall - and she was back in the afternoon as part of the Young at Hearts dance-exercise demo - so inspirational at 77 years!!! And to my partner, Barry, for once again helping with logistics including setting up and decanting. And of course the demo team, who managed to back up from a late night trial the evening before: Helen with Tooey and Megs, Tina with Elke and Hetty, Jude with Bonza, Lee-Anne with Myla (who stepped in to cover for Rose and Rex who is injured and Summer), and my ever willing Abby and Shimmy. The dogs were truly amazing in managing a small roped arena, the crowd, stalls, very loud band music, and lots more. My two were 'out for the count' for a hunk of yesterday arvo!!!! Once again, lots of positive feedback and interest in agility - that hopefully may promote more engagement and numbers!

13.11.2021 This weekend just gone! Part 1- K9T training Sat morning and then off to the last trial of the 2019 season - a glorious evening with the ADCSA at West Beach. BIG congratulations to Lee-Anne and Myla on their very first trial - and they came away with 3rd place in 500 Novice Jumping, in spite of nerves and distractions! Terrific achievement having only started agility training in July and for a dog that was "reactive". Thanks also to judge Vanessa for encouragement extended ...to newbies. CONGRATS to Tracey and Boots, who gained 1st place in 400 Novice Jumping - it was fast and flowing - you two are really cohering as a team. Lovely to watch! Massive congrats also to Jemima and Zak in gaining their Novice Jumping title - what a way to end the season. Although I've only played a very small part in your journey, its wonderful to see your efforts delivering such positive results. And finally, I'm proud to share that Shimmy gained 1st place in 500 Novice Agility and in doing so, achieved her AD title. Yeh!!! And she also gained her first qualification in Masters Jumping. Abby did me proud too - except for a propensity to try to keep up with Shimmy by jumping off the dog walk!

04.11.2021 Well, what an awesome two weekends we've had the last fortnight - we're all whacked but super happy and inspired! Last weekend: two wonderful days of immersion in the One Mind Dogs approach and training seminar with the terrific Niki Drage. This was our 4th weekend OMD seminar - and can't wait for the next one! Shimmy & I learnt heaps in our excellent level course handling session - love the opportunity to learn and develop my own skills and, as some of you know, I need a who...le different set of handling techniques with super-fast Shimmy - a wee bit different to the more experienced and controlled Abby! It was exciting to see Jude & Bonza and Lee-Anne & Myla and others also gaining instruction from one of the best OMD trainers and competitors in Australia. When not in a 'working' session, 'auditing' is another great way to listen, learn, ask questions and generally build knowledge and skills - we all came away inspired! A big thanks to Jane Caulton for organizing the event. See the next post for an update on this last weekend!
