22.01.2022 Gut health is so much more than just the microbiome. Good gut health starts with the food we eat, the fluids we drink, the time and amount we eat and how our body uses what it is given and it all starts from the moment it enters our mouth. Definitely science of recent times has discovered the pivotal importance of the intestinal microbiome and has shown it to be key to a range of lifestyle related illnesses (chronic disease) such as: inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), type 2 d...iabetes (T2D), cardiovascular disease (CVD) to colorectal cancer to mention a few as well as reducing anxiety & stress and supporting good sleep. The community of ~200 bacteria, virus, and fungi which live in the human gastrointestinal (GI) tract provide unique metabolic functions to the host (human) and are fundamentally important in health and disease. 21.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of International Men's Health Week. Started in 1994 by the US Congress Men's Health Week to heighten awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. In 2002, the 2nd World Congress Of Men's Health was held in Vienna and brought together six leading men's health organisations to run international events in June each year. Vienna created a Men's Health declaration to recognise that m...en's health is a critical issue and that there are health issues which only affect men. Vienna's charter is: * Changing the way health care is provided to be more sensitive towards men's needs * Creating school and community programs which target boys and young men * Connecting health and social policies to better pursue men's health goals Today and for the rest of this week we promote awareness of men's approach to health, the issues in men's health and to raise the profile of men & boys, their health outcomes and overall health. We also celebrate our men - their strengths, the contributions they make and the important role they play in society. Photo credit: Helena Lopes from Pexels

19.01.2022 Spinal Health Awareness Week Spinal Health & The Nervous System - The spine covers and protects the spinal cord of the nervous system. The nervous system controls every cell, tissue and organ in the body. Poor posture can cause the spine to go out of its natural alignment, affecting the ability of the nervous system to control body functions. If the spine is out of alignment, even just slightly, pressure may be put on the spinal nerve disrupting the nervous system. Pressure as little as a 5 cent piece can reduce nerve function by 60%.

12.01.2022 Urinary incontinence in men ... the facts. Urinary incontinence is the accidental or unintentional leakage of urine. Although less common men can also experience this condition, with the likelihood occurring increasing with age. Types of incontinence are: stress incontinence, urge incontinence, and overflow incontinence.... Causes can include: Weak or damaged bladder muscles, overactive bladder muscles, certain prostate conditions, and nerve damage. Some men may have one, two, or all three types of incontinence. Diagnosis of urinary incontinence in men involves: a medical history and physical exam, +/- an ultrasound and bladder testing. It is also a good idea to keep a bladder/toilet journal. Treatment is varied depending on the cause. Think this might be affecting you. Speak to your Health Professional or GP. Incontinence does not have to be an 'inevitable' part of aging. Don't let it impact your life, there is treatment available. . . . . #bowelhealth #healtheatinghabits #healthyeatingforlife #menshealthweek #menshealthawareness #menshealthmatters #menshealthau #menshealthaustralia #menshealthcare #menshealthcoach #healthcoach #arisehealth #arise_health See more

09.01.2022 Eating a balanced diet helps to reduce inflammation (in our whole body), reduces the risk of development of lifestyle diseases like; type2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression. Its easier than you think: * Eat a variety of colourful fresh foods from the 5 food groups everyday (aim for 2 fruit and 5 veggie serves) * Drink water and not many sugary drinks (cordial, fizzy drinks, fruit juices)... * Include fibre in your diet - eat with the skin on some fruit and veg, switch to wholegrain breads and cereals, don't overcook your food. 04.01.2022 Within our bodies there are specific areas which absorb colours of varying wavelengths causing effect our bodies in various ways. An imbalance of exposure to these colour wavelengths causes imbalance in the body which leads to an increase in various illnesses. Documented by Dr Somia Gul in the article "Chromo therapy- An Effective Treatment Option or Just a Myth?? Critical Analysis on the Effectiveness of Chromo-therapy" studies have proven there are specific colours for each... organ, which affects the human body by producing physiological and/or psychological effect. For example it is known that exposure to blue light before bed inhibits the release of melatonin, which is necessary to induce sleep. Have you had any experience with colour affecting your health? 04.01.2022 Chromo-therapy is the name given to the treatment using colour to restore balance (normalise) and overcome deficiency of an excess of colour affecting the body. The use of sunlight or artificial lights are used which serve as an activator of biochemical and hormonal processes. For example; exposure to low energy level (infrared) light (i.e. blue and violet), can be employed in the clinical management of migraine which arise due to stress, lack of blood volume (...following from pregnancy or at the end of menstruation). Exposure to low level sunlight/sunrays is commonly prescribed for newborn babies diagnosed with low grade jaundice.
