20.01.2022 At Kahawa Estate Coffee we're really interested in doing more to tread as lightly as we can on this fragile planet of ours. We're already participating in research programs to improve carbon storage and improve soil biodiversity, following environmentally sustainable farming practices and actively restoring the remnant sub-tropical rainforest on our farm. One additional approach we are considering is to make some branded KeepCups available in the near future. Please let us know if you would be keen to buy a Kahawa Estate KeepCup and be a part of this initiative!

18.01.2022 At Kahawa Estate Coffee, we await the arrival of the contract harvester tomorrow with eager anticipation. The milder winter and unseasonal hot spring weather has brought the crop to maturity a few weeks early this year. The plump deep red cherries are ripe for the picking! The forecast is for dry weather for harvesting and sunshine for the following week. This will allow us to sun-dry the crop this year.

15.01.2022 It’s the beginning of a new year and the beginning of new things at Kahawa Estate. We’re watching 4000 new seedlings establish from a big planting effort in late 2018, and we have a new website nearing completion. We’re looking forward to a big year in 2019! What is on your horizon for the coming year?

15.01.2022 Recent rains have triggered a flush of brilliant white coffee blossoms at Kahawa Estate Coffee. The fragrance is strong and sweet, reminiscent of jasmine. Although coffee is a self-fertile plant, bees can enhance flower pollination, which results in improved yield. We keep stingless native bees (Tetragonula carbonaria) from Nashua Native Bees and honey bees (Apis melifera) on the plantation, the latter using locally made Flow Hives. Both bee species were busy alongside each... other during the flowering this year. We’re looking forward to a good fruit set across the coffee plantation and to enjoy our coffee honey in the months ahead! ... ... #bees #nativebees #tetragonula #pollination #honey #flowhive #coffeeflower #KahawaEstateCoffee #KahawaEstate #coffee #premiumcoffee #singleorigin #coffeelover #fortheloveofcoffee #australiancoffee #lovelocalcoffee #locavore #farmtocup #knowthyfarmer #arabica #coffeetime #byronbay #byronhinterland #northernriversfood #australianmade #australiangrown #fairtrade See more

11.01.2022 Happy national coffee day everybody! Of course at Kahawa Estate Coffee, we consider every day to be a coffee day. #nationalcoffeeday

11.01.2022 "I'm not worried about having no toilet paper, but I am worried about not being able to have my Kahawa coffee" Thanks for the feedback Garth! Rest assured it is business as usual here at Kahawa Estate Coffee, albeit with even stricter food safety protocols than our usual high standards. As the world moves to spending more time isolated in the home environment and away from cafes, make sure you don't compromise on coffee quality. Clean your machine and place your order. We look forward to maintaining your supply of Kahawa Estate Coffee in the months ahead!

09.01.2022 The Australian Subtropical Coffee Association (@ozziecoffee) is supporting new coffee research being undertaken at Southern Cross University. Jos Webber, of Kahawa Estate Coffee, is leading the industry representation for this research collaboration via the ASTCA. The ASTCA is working with the SCU team to select and evaluate semi-dwarf varieties of coffee that are disease-resistant and have a superior flavour profile. The varieties identified are likely to be the basis of the Australian subtropical coffee growing industry in the years ahead. These improved varieties represent an exciting prospect for the future of the Australian coffee industry!

06.01.2022 Success attends our efforts again! Results are in for the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Sydney Fine Food Show for 2018. Kahawa Estate Coffee entered in four different classes and we are thrilled to have received four medals - a SILVER for piccolo latte, and BRONZE medals in each of the espresso, latte and plunger classes. It is good to receive this independent assessment that confirms our Australian Grown coffee ranks with the best.

05.01.2022 Kahawa Estate Coffee spoke recently with the Macquarie Radio Network (2GB in Sydney & 3AW in Melbourne) about the benefits of Australian grown and roasted coffee. Tune in to the podcast to find out more about the process of growing coffee and why our Australian grown coffee has the edge over imported beans.

05.01.2022 How do you drink your Kahawa Estate Coffee? It turns out that in 2018, the latte was the most popular choice for Australians, representing a third of all coffees sold.

05.01.2022 Kahawa Estate Coffee is proudly 100% Australian grown and roasted. At our farm on the Byron Bay hinterland in northern New South Wales, we take pride in managing the entire process of our coffee production from tending the trees to packaging the beans for distribution. From raising and growing the coffee plants to the processing and roasting of the beans to the final packaging, everything is done on our family farm. Our hands-on approach ensures the consistency and premium ...quality of our coffee from our farm to your cup. Because our coffee is grown right here in Australia we have a lower carbon footprint than other coffees, so you can feel good about every sip you take. ... ... #australiaday #australiaday2019 #australiancoffee #australianmade #australiangrown #KahawaEstateCoffee #KahawaEstate #coffee #premiumcoffee #singleorigin #coffeeroaster #coffeelover #fortheloveofcoffee #lovelocalcoffee #locavore #farmtocup #farmfresh #knowthyfarmer #foodlovers #espresso #arabica #coffeetime #byronbay #byronhinterland #northernriversfood #fairtrade Australian Made Campaign See more

04.01.2022 It's great to see The Guardian feature an article on Australian grown coffee, including a link to the Australian Subtropical Coffee Association, of which Kahawa Estate Coffee's Jos Webber is the current president. We agree that there are huge gains to be made in the industry in regard to environmental and social impact. Our family business grows and roasts premium Australian coffee without the use of pesticides and using environmentally friendly farming practices. It's hard to find a more local Australian coffee! Why not do your bit to improve your ethics and order a bag of premium Kahawa Estate beans now?

04.01.2022 Sunday 1st July will find us serving our award winning, locally grown Kahawa Estate Coffee at the Ballina Food & Wine Festival at the Ballina Jockey Club. This is their eighth year and we have been involved from the beginning. We enjoy the opportunity to showcase our coffee alongside the diverse array of top quality food and beverages on offer. We hope to see you there.

04.01.2022 Happy Earth Day everyone! From a coffee perspective, there is a lot we can do to tread a little more lightly on our planet. Did you know that in Australia alone, we throw away over 1 billion disposable coffee cups every year? What is worse is that the vast majority of these cups are not recyclable and end up in landfill. We can do better. For your next coffee on the go, please consider using a normal mug or a reusable coffee cup. Or better still, why not stop and relax ...for 15 minutes and enjoy that coffee in the cafe where you bought it!
