25.01.2022 RESTRICTIONS: Because of Queensland’s strong response to COVID-19, the Chief Health Officer has determined that more people will be allowed at outdoor venues an...d events from 1am on Thursday, October 1. Businesses can increase the number of patrons from one per four square metres to one per two square metres, as long as it is outdoors. More people will be allowed in our theme parks and zoos. Outdoor events with a COVID Safe Checklist can increase from 500 to 1,000 people. Outdoor stadiums, amphitheatres and outdoor performance venues with a COVID Safe Plan can increase seated capacity up to 75%. We want Queenslanders to keep getting out and supporting their local businesses and jobs. Carefully easing restrictions will help more Queenslanders get back to work as we focus on our plan for economic recovery. #covid19au

19.01.2022 PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT: Recent tidal action has left steep cliffs in our sand dunes at the main beach. This area is definitely no place to play. It might se...em fun to jump off or dig into, but with so many hidden hazards below the surface of the sand the risk of injury is very high; as well as contributing to the erosion of the dunes. We ask that parents please warn your children of these hazards and to make safe choices about where they play on the beach. The northern end of the main beach has been less affected and is a safer place to access the beach at the moment. Thank-you for your consideration and remember to always swim at a patrolled beach between the red and yellow flags. Tannum Sands Main Beach is patrolled from 9am-5pm every Saturday and Sunday from September until May as well as public holidays.

11.01.2022 Like if you agree!

11.01.2022 I’m angry! For 14 months now Gladstone has been removed from the Priority Distribution Area for GP’s as a result of a decision by the Australian Government, Department of Health. All this during a GLOBAL HEALTH PANDEMIC! This makes it nearly impossible for our local practices and even our hospital to attract doctors! ... We have massive waiting lists for bulk billing services in this region! We have over worked doctors! Frustrated people who can’t get in for weeks to see someone about their health for them or their children, frontline admin workers copping the brunt of the frustration from angry citizens who can’t understand why they can’t just get the help they need! We have local services that can’t even get doctors to provide mental health plans to help people with mental health concerns! This means more people attending our emergency service ward clogging up our hospital for what it’s supposed to be for - emergency services. And who can blame them if you’re desperate for medical help? The more doctors we lose the bigger the workload is on the doctors that remain here and we’re still unable to attract more to our region! We are stuck in a vicious downward spiral and it would seem we have been abandoned by the Australian Government, Department of Health to fend for ourselves! Share if you think it’s unfair! And contact local member Ken O’Dowd to tell him it’s unfair! https://www.aph.gov.au/Senators_and_Members/Parliamentarian

01.01.2022 A massive shout out to our local emergency services, rural and urban fire brigades and council staff involved in getting this fire under control. Thank you all for your efforts. These photos were sent to me by one of our local RFS members and highlights the intensity of the battles that these guys and girls face on a regular basis in order to protect our community. Yesterday a scrub fire near the Benaraby Landfill escalated and ignited mulch, wood chip and timber stockpiles ...within the facility. This morning the fire is under control but the facility remains closed to the public while smoke hazard remains with fires still smouldering. Crews are still on site keeping it under control. A timely reminder to all of us that we are approaching the hotter months and we need to be prepared and fire aware.
