14.01.2022 One thing is definitely true about WIMWA we love sisters. Meet Rowena Leslie (on the right) who runs Kai Rho Contracting with her sister Katrina. The sisters h...ave also been proactive in bringing together other Aboriginal business operators to form the emerging Goldfields Aboriginal Business Chamber in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, aimed at raising the profile and highlighting the experience and successes of Aboriginal businesses in the region. Both sisters are traditional owners from the Mirning traditional lands in the South to the Nganana Ku and Ngulpa Pirni-Ku lands in the Northern Goldfields and they are also traditional owners from the Wajarri Yamatji in the Murchison region. It's great news for all of us that Rowena has agreed to share her very own WIMWA story at our summit next Friday. Rowena has had over 15 years working in the mining industry and we are really looking forward to hearing her insights and perspective. Rowena is a strong advocate for education and has a Bachelor of Arts and Law from The University of Western Australia and she is also heavily involved in the Christian Aboriginal Parent-Directed Schools (CAPS) which she and her family have helped build into a thriving education facility, that was recently nationally and internationally recognised for its successes. #wimwa2020 #sisters Heart of Gold Australia
