22.01.2022 AUSSIE BEGA SET TO BUY LION DAIRY Dairy farmers and milk factory workers on the Atherton Tableland are breathing easier now a buyer has stepped forward to b...uy Lion Dairy and Drinks. The federal government torpedoed an earlier deal which would have seen the Kirin-owned business sold to the Chinese dairy company, Mengniu for $600m. But now Lion, the owner of Australia's largest national cold supply chain network, including the Malanda milk factory and Dairyfarmers brand, will fall into Australian hands. 15.01.2022 Queensland will reopen to Greater Sydney at 1am on December 1. It’s been 28 days since New South Wales has had an unlinked case. Note: Victoria passes the 28-day mark tomorrow, if all goes well, it should also be open at 1am on December 1.

09.01.2022 HOLE-Y DOOLEY! A SINKHOLE ON THE GILLIES RANGE ROAD Investigations are continuing into what caused a sinkhole to emerge in the middle of the Gillies Range R...oad, south of Cairns. The highway was closed yesterday afternoon, to allow highway engineers to travel to the site. It has since re-opened, but is down to one lane of traffic. Motorist Janine Rielly says she was one of the first people to come across the one-metre hole in the road, about half-way down the range. "We had to veer onto the other side of the road because we had really no choice, and there was a huge sink hole, yeah it was quite a decent size... it's just lucky there were no accidents." 06.01.2022 BIG news folks!!!! It’s official! Australian Bega is buying these brands in a half-a-billion dollar deal from Japanese owned Lion Dairy and Drinks Last year t...hese brands were sold to Chinese Mengniu Dairy. The sale was approved AND recommended by Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board. In the final moments, Treasurer Frydenberg halted the sale citing a conflict with national interest. Chinese Mengniu Dairy’s biggest shareholder is ..the Chinese Communist Party So it was a fair call! Did you know, this sale includes Australia’s ONLY national cold chain distribution network Yep, until now this supply chain has been owned by an overseas company. Don’t think that’s a big deal?? $70 MILLION of Australian dairy is spoiled every year due to problems (e.g. delays, mismanagement) along our cold chain distribution network. Australia’s dairy industry has been gutted over the years and dairy farmers have taken a beating. A number of parliamentary committees looked into the Australian dairy industry over many years and guess what happened with all those reports. A whole lot of nothing! So farmer representative groups have been calling for a Royal Commission into the Dairy industry to resolve these issues once and for allBring it on! BUT in the meantime, having our biggest dairy companies return to Australian ownership and management should (hopefully) only strengthen their position!! EDIT: Completion of the Acquisition is anticipated to occur at the end of January 2021 #maketheswap #maketheswapaustralia #australianmade #madeinaustralia Bega Cheese Dairy Farmers Daily Juice Yoplait Australia Big M Pura Classic
