25.01.2022 This time last year I was floating in the ocean in Croatia without any cares in the world! This year I'm stuck inside my house. How the world has changed!

24.01.2022 Windscreen Wipers for this gloomy Melbourne day! Fingers crossed these will help the rain go away! This is a great exercise for your obliques (your side waist/ side core muscles). ... start lying on your back, with your hands out in a capital 'T' position and your legs in table top. Inhale as you roll your knees to the side, exhale to bring your knees back through centre. Keep your shoulders flat on the mat throughout the entire exercise You can increase the challenge by straightening your legs to the ceiling, or decrease the challenge by placing your toes on the mat. 20.01.2022 The Desk Stretch This is a great stretch to do throughout the work day to counteract the hunched (forward flexion) posture. I’m aware it looks like you’re over it and just need a nap ... Sit up tall with your bottom shuffled back into the chair place both forearms onto your desk lie your forehead down onto your arms wheel your chair backward as you feel your upper back extend and sink between your shoulder blades hold the stretch and breath Note: you may wish to add some additional extension by lifting your head and lifting your chest forwards towards the front

20.01.2022 Stage 4 Extension Update: The Victorian Government has announced the extension of stage 4 lock down, and along with that the current restrictions on treatment for all allied health providers. I will be calling all patients with appointments over the next 2 weeks in the coming days. ... As with the past 6 weeks, I am still able to be open for urgent care. If you feel like you may fit into this category, please contact me and I can go through the screening process with you. The current legalisation for treatment states: If lack of treatment would cause: Significant deterioration in your condition. Significant change to your functional independence. You would require escalation of care (i.e. seek specialist advice, consult with your GP, or attend the emergency department). I will keep you updated over the coming weeks. See more

17.01.2022 Can you believe its been 2 months already since I opened Kaitlyn J Osteopathy! This was the day I finally finished setting up my room (with lots of help of course)! I was pretty excited it was all set and ready to go! I may not be fully functioning at the moment, but I can't wait to get back to it!

16.01.2022 Over the last couple of weeks I've started Couch to 10KM. I'm putting this here to keep me accountable! So next time you're in the clinic, ask me how my running is going. It's probably been 10 years since I have been able to run 10km. So I'm easing back into it, with the aim I will be able to get there injury free!

16.01.2022 Melbourne Press Conference Update: The below is directly from the DHHS (Department of Health and Human Services) website, in relation to the 5km distance restriction. "These distance, gathering and time limits won't apply for work, medical care or compassionate reasons"... I will provide further updates following the press conference tomorrow if there are any changes.

15.01.2022 After a busy week in the clinic last week, and with another busy week approaching, getting out of the city for a weekend was just what I needed. Thanks @lorienstarkpolediva and @adriansozio for always letting me a part of your Mt Beauty Fam

13.01.2022 Eye protection is now mandatory for health professionals. Luckily I feel like this look really suits me, and all my patients will get a good laugh. I will provide further updates once the announcements are made today.

12.01.2022 Spikey Balls. The self massage tool I have the biggest love hate relationship with. They are perfect in assisting to relieve trigger points or the 'knots' you can feel in your muscles. They are available for purchase from the clinic.

09.01.2022 It still scares me that people do my virtual pilates classes with me on the TV! I'm truly in people's living rooms! My next Pilates class is 4pm this afternoon. DM if you'd like to join in!

08.01.2022 COVID-19 Update: The good news is osteopathy is allowed to remain open, the bad news is, we are still waiting for clarification from the government in regards to what this will look like. While I am awaiting this clarification, I have decided (under the advice from Osteopathy Australia) to close for the remainder of the week. Trust me when I say this was not an easy decision for me. ... I'm hoping to re-open on Monday 10th August. It looks likely that patients will require a GP referral to attend osteopathy appointments during this time. I will keep you updated. See more

08.01.2022 Stress Less or Happiness? Picking which oil to use this morning was a hard choice. I've definitely needed to decrease my stress levels over the past week, but I think we all need a bit of happiness in our lives at the moment too My oils are from @spoilt.melbourne and I love them!

07.01.2022 Tassie seems too far away right now. If someone had told me this time last year, that a virus would sweep the world and stop me from being able to go back to my little island state, I would not have believed them. Who knows when I'll even be able to enjoy these views from our beach house in Bicheno again! @ Bicheno, Tasmania

07.01.2022 It’s amazing how much this year has made me appreciate the small things! Like rainbows when you’re running in the pouring rain...

06.01.2022 How often do we take care of everyone else and not ourselves?? So often I have patient's who will book in their partner/child/parent because they're in pain, but will often put themselves last. We're coming out of the Melbourne slump now, and it's time to look after our bodies. Whether this is going for a run, heading back to Yoga, eating healthy or catching up with friends, and of course, if you need an osteopathy appointment, you can book online or call 7001 9672

05.01.2022 Kaitlyn J Ostoepathy will be closed for an extended break over the Christmas period. A few appointments are still available in December, head to my website to book online!

04.01.2022 A little reminder for all the people in Melbourne right now or for anyone who is struggling during this global pandemic. It is called a global pandemic for a reason, it is affecting people around the world, and everyone is handling it differently. Try to not compare yourself to others, and remember... what ever you are doing to get through this time.. It's OK.

03.01.2022 Today marks 6 Months since I started Kaitlyn J Osteopathy I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone. I’m so grateful I get to spend my days at a place I love!

03.01.2022 Borris has been missing seeing auntie Kaitlyn in real life! So he spent the entirety of my pilates class lying on my voice (or on the laptop) Thanks @jane_bell for the photo!

01.01.2022 Pelvic Tilts. One of my favourite exercises to encourage movement and mobility into the lumbar spine (lower back). Make sure the movement is slow and controlled. ... Let me know how you go, and shout out if need assistance. See more

01.01.2022 Its been a chaotic week with lots of changes in regards to Allied Health and the Stage 4 Restrictions, but I believe I finally have a definitive answer for you. Based on government legislation, I am able to stay open for osteopathy appointments and patients will not be required to to get a referral from their GP. However, it is not business as usual, and during this time I am only able to see patients for emergency or urgent appointments. This means I will unfortunat...ely not be able to see people for their routine or non-urgent treatments for the next 6 weeks. I am offering alternative telehealth appointments for these routine appointments. How do you know if you fall under the 'emergency/urgent' banner? If lack of treatment would cause: 1. significant deterioration in your condition 2. significant change to your functional independence. To be able to attend an urgent/emergency appointment, you will need to have a call with me in which I will go through a screening process to determine if treatment is necessary at this time. The best way to do this is book a '10 minute Video call' online and I will call you at the specified time. You can also book a 10 minute video call if you're just after some advice or a reminder of your stretches/exercises. I'm always more than happy to help, and also let's be honest, I love a chat! If you have any questions, please shout out - Kaitlyn See more
