Over 75 people came along tonight... to an information evening organised by action group Don't FRACK with Kalbarri, who also have gathered over 600 petition signatures in the last few weeks, calling for a ban on the region. In Perth? Come along to the rally outside the Labor State conference to support regional communities like Kalbarri. 24.01.2022 Good weather now for a hike in the gorges, so pack appropriate shoes, hats, etc. also great for a long walk on the beach and snorkel at blue holes. Perfect sunsets! Plenty of local tours - canoes, horses, quad bike, fishing. Just see our local girls at the visitor's centre. They are super friendly and knowledgeable. Vacancies at the cottage in May and June.

24.01.2022 I've been living in Fremantle for my kids' schooling needs. Hubby has been mostly here, diligently looking after our KSC guests. These holidays have been busy with our teen kids working a lot and me working a little... but we have managed to pack into two weeks many of the (albeit shortened) experiences we'd normally spread across a few months. 16.01.2022 Yesterday evening we walked across the dunes just in time for sunset. We we rewarded, for our willingness to brave the evening cool-off, with a 30 minute 'dance' by two young whales breaching, tail slapping and fin slapping close to the beach. SPECTACULAR! The nights are cosy for sleeping and the afternoons can see you in T-shirt and shorts. Widlflowers are starting to bloom and there is no better place right now! 12.01.2022 If you've stayed with us at KSC lately, you'll notice our photos are a little out of date! We've updated some of the furniture and bedding to make your stay more comfortable. We'll update those photos soon. NOW is my favourite time of year in Kalbarri because whale sightings are regular, the swell is breathtaking and the wildflowers are bursting into abundant colour, everywhere. Be sure to take a drive out along the Kalbarri - Ajana road to see wildflowers, but ta...ke ONLY PHOTOS as it is a HUGE fine if you're caught picking them! This is because our wildflowers are very delicate and require tricky germination conditions and many years of growth to get to just a small size. Finally, keep your eyes open for the abundant wildlife - often seen on the road, so slow down and be careful. (This Thorny Devil was rescued as he was basking in the warmth of the road, near Eagle Gorge). See more

06.01.2022 As we walked up the fabulous recycled plastic walk-way at Island Rock (Kalbarri coastal gorges) today, I got a whiff of nectar. It took me a moment to find the source : mini geraldton wax plants laden with purple buds, stretched at the seams with teensy flowers about to burst open. As the whales head north just off the cliffs, wildflower season is about to explode into all is glorious beauty. Cosy nights ...and glorious days. Plus the weather is perfect for exploring the river and gorges. Kalbarri is idyllic right now!

05.01.2022 Travel restrictions for most of WA will be eased tomorrow (YAY!) and we look forward to welcoming our guests back to Kalbarri Sunset Cottage. We are already seeing a steady stream of campers and travellers coming in to town. June and July are almost booked out - get in quick! The swell is huge and impressive at the moment, the sunsets are absolute works of art and there have been a couple of whale spottings already. Today was warm enough to swim - and the water is perfect. I...t is GLORIOUS here right now! Our little cottage has had some TLC recently and is sporting new curtains, brand new hot water system and refreshed plumbing. More photos to follow soon. Simple and cosy, this place remains one of my favourite on earth!

05.01.2022 Winter sunsets are the best - with whales breaching just offshore and the clouds creating a backdrop for the colours of the evening sun. There is nothing better than a glass of red wine on the dunes as the sun slips out of view for the day. we have vacancies this month, come and stay!
