17.01.2022 The Kaleidoscope Initiative Stakeholder Partner Network met last week to share what is happening across the newcomer, migrant employment space. We heard from Lisa Laing Senior Career Counsellor, Multicultural Services Centre WA (MSCWA) about the CALD jobs and skills centre; Richard Flack about the Adult Migrant English Program from North Metropolitan TAFE. The network is critical for building better understanding and collaboration across the sector.... Our mentees come from a variety of professions including various engineering streams, medical, banking, ICT, architecture, research, legal and community services. We thank our mentors for volunteering their time, insights and experiences to guide our newcomer professionals so they can reconnect with their career here in Australia, ...and hope our mentees and mentors will benefit from the experiences shared by previous mentees and mentors. 09.01.2022 Mentees from our current KMP cycle attended the four-day job readiness workshop series training on helping newcomers to Australia get job ready #careers. The last day of the session was held online due to COVID-19 restrictions. Participants learnt: - the importance of developing networking skills in both face to face and online environments - why and how to develop a Career Strategy in Australia,... - how to write an attention grabbing CV and utilise LinkedIn, - how to perform well in an interview.
