15.01.2022 In this story found in the Gospel of Mark, Jesus is on his way to heal the daughter of Jairus, a leader in the synagogue. On his way, while being surrounded by a crowd that pressed in all around him, a woman who was suffering from a bleeding issue for many years grabbed his clothes just to be healed by faith. Jesus was so attuned to this, that he stopped and asked who had touched him. He gave this woman the opportunity to share the truth of what had happened and restored her ...in front of the people who were there. So often in this life, we are surrounded by the chaotic world we live in. There's something to be said for Jesus' example here. He stopped and allowed this woman time to share, he gave her a safe space to tell her story, even though he was on the way to attend to an urgent matter. And the outcome was that not only was her physical issue resolved, he also reaffirmed her in front of the crowd - after mostly likely being a social outcast from her infirmity. Taking time to listen, to give an opportunity to share, is critical in this world. We're often time poor, and that's a shame because time is often one of the greatest gifts we can give to people. Let's give others love and compassion through the blessing of time.
