23.01.2022 A simple prayer from Pastor E to conclude yesterday's sermon on Luke 1:1-45...

20.01.2022 Hi Everybody, Our latest YouVersion Bible Reading Plan, Elisha: A Tale of Ridiculous Faith, by Craig Groeschel, has been a rich source of inspiring and encouraging truth for my growth as a follower of Jesus! Here are the lessons I have been learning as I have read each daily instalment: Elisha was living in Israel during a time when evil had spread like a disease across the whole land. Yet the Lord challenged him to stand boldly for truth and righteousness...and his impact wa...Continue reading

19.01.2022 Less than 4 weeks until Carols in Kal! Let's get the word out to our community and share the gift of Jesus this Christmas.

19.01.2022 Pastor E's closing challenge from yesterday's message:

18.01.2022 Church Picnic tomorrow after church, bring your family

18.01.2022 Hi Everybody, I’m really enjoying being part of our YouVersion Bible Reading Plans lately. We have a growing band of participants joining our group on this Bible app. We welcome you to get on board by downloading or logging in to the app, searching in the friends section for Kalgoorlie Baptist Church and sending us a friend request. I’ll then add you and start inviting you to join us in the Bible Reading Plans that we can explore together. The Plan we just completed today w...as titled Hope for Hard Times. Here are a couple of my reflections from the study: Matthew 11 28 Then Jesus said, Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. What an incredible offer this is from our Lord Jesus Himself. It easily surpasses any deal the world or the devil serves up. The King of Kings promises us here that if we simply come to Him, he will take our heavy burdens and exchange them for light ones, give us time to rest, teach us with humility and gentleness, and lead us in a relationship that is a joy, free of abuse and intimidation. Wow! 1 Peter 5 7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. There are many indicators that are measures of God's greatness. One is that He can literally move mountains, answering our biggest prayer requests in astonishing and miraculous ways. Another is that He will pay attention to our most trivial petitions, answering them in ways that reveal His intimate care for us. Pastor E

17.01.2022 Hi Everybody! This week, our growing, merry band of KBC YouVersion Bible Students have been working through the wonderfully titled "Grumbler's Guide To Giving Thanks" by Dustin Crowe. Here are my reflections on the series so far: Thank You, Dear Father, for the blessings you have lavished on our Kalgoorlie Baptist Church community: ... Our people (ranging from colourful characters to quiet achievers) Our facilities (so practical and welcoming) Our finances (so abundant) Our nationalities (so many tribes and tongues represented) Our relationships (so many opportunities for the Holy Spirit to work in us and flow through us). Your joy, Lord, is our strength! Thank You Father, for the way You don't just watch from a long way off as we face our battles and struggles. You actually journey with us through every tough and difficult experience. You are so gracious to us, allowing adversity to challenge us to the very core of our being. That is where You meet us and do the incredible work of refining and transformation, which is the fruit that only suffering can produce. It is never wasted when we recognize Your heart of love for us right in the middle of it. The presence, power and peace of the Holy Spirit in my life is a gift that is beyond anything the world can offer. It staggers me that I could ever take this mighty blessing for granted, yet way too often I do just that. Right now, I'm not. Today I am overwhelmed by this matchless grace, as a result of my Lord Jesus returning to Heaven and sending the Comforter, to live in me and every single one of my brothers and sisters in Christ! If you like the sound of this, then come along and get on board. We are very easy to find on this app! Blessings, Pastor E

16.01.2022 Where do you find strength in these challenging times? YouVersion Bible Reading Plans have helped me to sharpen my focus on how I can live a life that is more reliant on God’s power than my own inadequate efforts. There are some Scriptures that have stood out, encouraging me to trust the Holy Spirit to continue His work of transformation in me: Psalm 121 ... 1 I look up to the mountains does my help come from there? 2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! This is one of the most rock solid guarantees in the whole universe: the God who made it obviously understands it best, and is therefore able to anticipate any threat before it even arrives in our danger zone. What a mighty God we serve! Job 42 12 So the Lord blessed Job in the second half of his life even more than in the beginning. Job's story continues to shine as a model for every believer who is experiencing suffering on multiple fronts - followers of Jesus who have been targeted by the enemy for especially heavy attack. Job is honest with God, and the people in his life, about how he is struggling to understand why he is on the receiving end of such fury...but he never curses or denies the Lord - and God's final response is a surprising restoration that far exceeds everyone's expectations. Job's example is inspiring and life-giving to all who engage with his amazing testimony. James 4 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble. Although she preceded James by centuries, this verse perfectly describes the excellent role model that is Hannah. She kept her eyes on the Lord while pouring out her heart to Him...and He heard and answered her prayer of utter desperation. Finally, one of my favourite passages in the Scriptures: Philippians 4 11 Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Paul testifies here to the kind of spiritual maturity that reveals his unshakeable trust in God's unfailing love and enduring faithfulness. He challenges us to follow his example... From Pastor E

13.01.2022 The Lie of Perfectionism By Matt Hernandez With everything going on in our world today, I often find myself saying to the Lord, God, we need You. One day recently, I whispered those familiar words and almost instantly I felt the Holy Spirit whisper back: Well, I need you.... That moment changed everything for me. What I realized was that God has given all of us influence, and He wants us to put action behind that influence. You use your influence by being willing and available to be used by God. As followers of Jesus, our role is to simply pursue Him with everything we are. Our obedience today will propel us toward how God will use our influence tomorrow. However, many of us feel we aren’t ready to be used by Him. The lie we often tell ourselves is that we have to reach a certain point in our relationship with Jesus to be ready. It’s easy to get caught up trying to reach the unattainable goal of perfection in order to be influential for the kingdom. As long as we believe that lie, we can never rest in God’s grace. The truth is your influence is greater than you could ever imagineespecially when you live from a place of grace. When you live from grace, and don’t strive to reach perfection, there’s an attractiveness in that. People take notice, and what they see isn’t us at all anyway. It’s the good news that Jesus Christ is alive in us. So, the question is: how are you using your influence? If you’re like me, you have the potential to overcomplicate things. I can overcomplicate the folding of a bathroom towel so it’s not far-fetched for me to overcomplicate a question that has a simple answer. Our tendencies to constantly strive and hustle to prove our influence are ineffective and exhausting. True influence happens when we realize we have nothing to prove and just obey and pursue Jesus as a son or daughter and invite others on the journey with us. Today, I hope you realize the influencer you truly are. Right here and now. And may you hear the words of your Creator whisper to you: This is my beloved child in whom I am well pleased. I encourage you to walk with that boldness, confidence, and peace today. Prayer God, thank You that I can live my life from a place of confidence because of who You are and who You’ve called me to be. Help me to use the influence You’ve given me to give You the glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Memory Verse But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

05.01.2022 FISHING WITH THE EXPERT... I really think that God is telling us something! Our current Churchwide Bible Study Series, "Jesus the Game Changer to the Ends of the Earth", has stirred in many of our congregation members a renewed desire to restore the last words of Jesus to the top of our list of priorities, as His witnesses to our community and across this planet:... Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywherein Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Meanwhile, our growing KBC Crew on YouVersion have embarked on a 28 Day Devotional Plan by Robert Morris called "Real". This series focuses on equipping and inspiring you to effectively communicate the story of the gospel and your faith by living a relevant, engaging, authentic life, embracing the key ingredients to being a good witness and sharing your story with others. Here are my reflections on the first two days of this journey: "Thank You Jesus, that You promised us we would never have to do this alone. With the Holy Spirit alive in our hearts, wherever we go we can always be fishing with The Expert!" "If we are listening carefully for His still, small voice and following closely His instructions, God will place us right where He plans to use us for maximum impact." So what do I think God is telling us? It’s time to do more fishing with The Expert! Are you keen? Pastor E

02.01.2022 Hi Friends, I hope you like this photo taken by Sandy Vlatko! This week I’ve been reflecting during my quiet time on how God can use me even more effectively for His Kingdom, if I continue to surrender my spiritual passport that He has given me. Here is what I wrote down to share with you. As you can see, it launched me into other areas where I am passionate about growing in my journey as a follower of Jesus... Spiritual Passports We are called to understand everything we can about the cultures and subcultures we are called to...so that we can love the people in them better...so that Christ is more clearly revealed through our lives, as we use the spiritual passports that God has given us to open the doors into these places. Success We are so blessed that success in following Jesus is not performance-based. The best way to guarantee success in our journey is to be completely dependent on Him...and it is primarily through our failures that we are driven to deeper dependence on our Saviour, Lord and King. Ambition Ambition only has a place in the lives of followers of Jesus if that ambition is to obey and please Him. Any ambitions for worldly accomplishments must die to make room for His life-giving desires to emerge, grow and flourish in our lives, bringing untold blessings to others on the way. Witness We don't need to be able to answer everybody's difficult or tricky questions about theology and Biblical interpretation. We just need to be ready and willing to tell our story - we will never get this wrong, because it's our story and no-one remembers it better than us, apart from the Holy Spirit, who will always help us to tell it in ways that work for whoever is listening. Please, Father - help us to be the witnesses that You created us to be. Light of Jesus There's many things that I need to apologise for and seek forgiveness for, as a result of my choices and actions...but one thing I must never apologize for is the Light of Jesus in my life. I simply need to let His Light shine wherever He opens doors and sends me - and He will shine most brightly and powerfully in the darkest places that I am called to enter. Pastor E
