10.01.2022 CONTAINERS = CASH Are you getting excited for the Containers for Change WA scheme? From October 1st you'll be able to exchange some drink containers for ...a 10 cent refund. Info sessions are being held across the state to help get people ready- here's some of the things you need to know: What's accepted? Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard beverage containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible for a refund. What's not accepted? White milk bottles, wine bottles, pure spirit bottles, cordial and pure juice containers over 1L are not accepted because traditionally these drinks are consumed at home Also any containers that are less than 150ml and greater than 3L. Can I crush the cans? Yep, as long as you can still tell that they are a can. Can I start collecting drink containers now? No, you can't start hoarding containers. The scheme doesn't start until October 1st, so you are supposed to have purchased and consumed the containers you recycle October 1st. (We know what you're thinking - how will they know Well, if you rock up on October 1st with 500 drink containers they might guess that you didn't consume all those drinks in a few hours.) What about the lids? There will be a different box to recycle the lids- but you must the lids from each container. If you've got other questions like how do I get my money? Or where will refund stations be set up? Check out more info here: https://www.containersforchange.com.au/wa Or you can attend the Kalgoorlie information session tomorrow: https://bit.ly/311LfTX Will you make the effort to take drink containers to a recycling refund point from October 1st?
