12.01.2022 Are opossums cannibals? No. Possums are not cannibalistic. They are omnivorous, but for the most part, the only proteins they eat come from insects and the occasional small reptile or amphibian. Well last night I had a family ( mum & 3 daughters ) staying here at Kalimna Woods Cottages watching / feeding my beautiful possum and baby when another possum walked up behind the mother possum and grabbed the baby possum and ate the baby, how embarrising. I will have to carry a large stick now to control a ferral possum. There are other mother possums still here but last night all babies were definatly in the pouch.
