22.01.2022 I don’t usually promote events on my FB but this one I will share, because I will attend and teach at it - virtually! The World Kobudo Federation World Convent...ion in Vienna this year had to be cancelled due to the global situation with Covid-19. Instead the team behind the world convention have put a massive effort into creating a virtual event that YOU can join from the safety and comfort of your own home/home dojo (exactly what I’ll do!). Over 40 instructors have recorded segments that will be shared over four weekends starting 23-24 May. I have not seen a complete list of instructors yet (or what they will show/teach/share), but knowing the quality of WKF events I have already registered as a participant. I have also been asked to contribute as an instructor which is very cool! Besides a few select Kali instructors there will be everything from Aikido, BJJ, Jiu Jitsu, Karate, Kickboxing, Kempo, Kung Fu and much much more to have a look at, a virtual smorgasbord of martial arts that is WKF! World Kobudo Federation Online Convention, starting MAY 23rd with 4 episodes with approximately 40 excellent instructors from around the world. Four instructional videos of approx 1:15h will be uploaded and remain available online until the end of 2020. 17.01.2022 Dear Students: There remains growing concerns about the COVID 19 virus health risks. We have reviewed the latest health authority recommendations and considered protection of the health of our students, instructors and families, which remains our primary objective. ... As such we have decided to halt in person classes for now. All classes will now be conducted online for our students commencing Monday, March 23, 2020, until further notice. Online classes are as per normal class schedule. We are grateful to all the families who continue to help keep our schools stay alive during these uncertain times. For all the families that have continued to keep their membership active - here is what you will receive in return for your commitment to us. 1) Access to online Facebook Live classes and shared material from other KSI instructors. 2) Discounted Fee Structure - All Memberships will revert to our discounted BRONZE membership (Shobukan Martial Arts members only). 3) FREE Gradings for the rest of the year. (Guro gradings exempt). These measures are important to keep your training alive and our schools alive. Any queries about memberships should be directed to [email protected] We want to help you stay active and continue your Martial Arts journey with no interruptions. Our Chief Instructors are going to be teaching classes online via Facebook. If you don’t have a Facebook account, we ask that you make one. It’s free and you can make yours private. You can cancel it when we resume classes. Yes, we understand there are many options for us to teach via the Internet. We have decided this would be the easiest and fastest way to get things started. Only active members will be granted access. 1) Have or create a Facebook account 2) Search for the class on Facebook: Shobukan Martial Arts - Kali Sikaran 3) Ask to join the group and answer the questions 4) Each class will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays 18:30-19:30. 5) Place your student name in the comments. This will help us record your attendance. 6) When you are in your class, give it a thumbs up so we see you for attendance. BONUS: Post videos in the group of your performance/training at home for some feedback and your opportunity to win a special prize. These classes will be live and may be posted elsewhere for the KSI group to share. It is important that you view the class schedule and make your time. Too often if things can be done at any time, we put them off. We want to continue to teach self-discipline by keeping a schedule. Your instructors rely on teaching for their employment. They are going to spend their hours still at work putting these classes together and communicating with all students. Please message your instructor via Facebook Messenger.
