23.01.2022 We said a sad goodbye to a long term educator today, best wishes Miss Mel!! And next Tuesday we will do it all again when Miss Kelly says goodbye!! Best of luck Miss Kelly!! We will miss you both and hope you have every success in your new adventures!!

In recognition of the outstanding efforts of school staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, the last two days of the scho...ol year, Thursday 10 and Friday 11 December, have been declared student free days. Schools will be closed on these days. For some regional, rural and remote schools that finish the school year earlier, the student free days will be Thursday 3 and Friday 4 December. 22.01.2022 Well we said a sad goodbye to our gum tree on the weekend. Not something we wanted to do but in the best interests and the health and safety of children and staff it was a necessity. A massive shout out to CQ Trees who did a phenomenal job, who would of thought that the removal of trees would be so technical. As you can see from the photos and video it takes a lot of skill and a fair amount of nerve to lop trees!!

22.01.2022 Book Fair has arrived!! For the next two weeks we will have a variety of good quality books displayed in the foyer and available for you to purchase. What a great idea for our annual Christmas Party!! All purchases go toward new books for the Centre, thank you for your support!!

21.01.2022 Yesterday our Kindy and Schoolie groups had a special visitor attend the Centre. The Rockhampton Regional Council presented their "Part of the Pack" educational program which aims to teach children about the principles of personal safety around dogs. A suitably trained and socialised dog, "Archer" and his owner Renay joined Lisa and a local laws officer in teaching the children what to do if approached by a dog or if they are in a situation where they are scared by a dog. The session was enjoyed immensely!!

20.01.2022 Our Infants have been having a lot of fun exploring our new Manipulation Board. This activity encourages the development of important skills such as fine motor, hand eye co-ordination, concentration and perseverance and the facinating concept of "cause and effect".

19.01.2022 Today at Kallahra was all about Easter as we held our Annual Easter Hat Parade!! We had some fabulous designs on display with all ages enjoying the show. A very special thank you to Phoebe and her family for sharing the Easter cheer with an Easter Egg for all the children!! Don't forget we will be closed Good Friday (10 April) and Easter Monday (13 April). Happy Easter everyone!!

17.01.2022 Tomorrow, Wednesday 14 October the Toothfairy is coming to visit Kallahra!! This is an educational show full of fun songs and learning for children aged 2 - 5 years. The cost for the show is $7 per child which will be debited to your account, all participating children will receive a toothbrush!!

17.01.2022 Thanks to all families for their patience today as we work through our new Kidsoft software system..the electronic sign in will be available tomorrow!! You will need to bring your Mobile phone along with you for that first sign in!! When you sign in for the first time on this system a generated pin will be sent to your mobile phone and you will then be prompted to move through and create you own pin. Thank you again for your patience whilst we all get used to this new system.

16.01.2022 Today as part of National Child Protection Week our Kindy children participated in Australia's Biggest Child Safety Lesson, run by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. This lesson teaches children aged 4 to 7 critical personal safety lessons about secrets and surprises, the right to be safe, the rules about touch and Safety Helpers. Our children watched the lesson live on the big screen and then participated in activities such as drawing the person that makes them feel safe. #ChildProtectionWeek2020 #australiasbiggestchildsafetylesson #danielmorcombefoundation

13.01.2022 This morning our Educators and Children participated in an Anzac Day Service. We all sat in a circle and discussed Anzac Day and what it means, we listened to The Last Post and said The Ode. Everyone shared an Anzac biscuit and then we tried our hand at flipping gold chocolate coins (of course the best part of this was eating the chocolate!!) We hope that everyone has a wonderful Anzac Day - maybe we will see you in your driveway at dawn!!

The current software system we are using in our services, Qikkids, has merged with another software company and therefore, we have needed to find a new company that best suits us here at Kallahra. The new software system we have decided to go with is a company called Kidsoft. Both systems connect and share information with Centrelink but in very different wa...ys. We ask that you be patient with us as we learn and get familiar with the new software system. Some changes for families. - Your statement will look different; the statement will show the same information as your current one but in a different layout. - Sign in on the tablets will now be called ICheck-In and when you first login next week you will need your mobile to set up your new pin. If you have any questions regarding ICheck-In, reading your statements or any other information regarding Kidsoft please do not hesitate to email or call the service.
