25.01.2022 Happy International Women’s Day . . . . 2021 Theme: Choose to Challenge.... . "A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. So let's all choose to challenge. . How will you help forge a gender equal world? Celebrate women's achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality." . . . Continuing with our theme to donate to a differerent cause each month, today we are making two donations for February & March 2021, both with a focus on organisations that support & empower women and raise awareness about important issues happening in our own backyard. Our first #IWD2021 donation went to @happyboxesproject to help empower and support women in remote corners of Australia by alleviating barriers of accessing basic needs. From their website: Happy boxes are a collection of toiletries and beauty products that are put togethr and sent to women in remote communities, with the purpose to not only provide access to women who would go without but to spread kindness and happiness. The ritual of putting together a Happy Box can and should be performed with love and intention, not just for its recipents but for the wonderful person creating it. It provides a direct and intimate connection between the person donating & person receivng. Happy Boxes may enrich a young woman's wellbing program or be gifted at an Elder's healing circle. It may end up providing comfort to a woman at a refuge centre or land in the hands of a mum juggling a busy family. Our second #IWD2021 donation went to @wpi_homes who help create new beginnings for women on low incomes by providing access to long-term, high quality, affordable and secure housing solutions. WPI currently provide homes for over 200 women & children around Melbourne.
