25.01.2022 Veggie & herb garden at the Tea Rooms As we further move into spring, we will continue our Tea Rooms tradition to be as local as possible. Our target is to keep 90%+ of our suppliers within 15mins range of Mt Dandenong. You can’t be more local if you can get your kitchen herbs and veggies from your backyard. Thanks to our friend Jack (who became a local celebrity), our new gardens are much bigger now. Special greetings to Bronson who helped a lot of heavy lifting during the... last few months. You will also notice that we have picked framing colours to blend with our forest background. All we need to do is, just wait & enjoy the little seedlings to grow. Once they start flowering, feel free to step in & browse through these areas... until then, cheer up & stay safe. XX

24.01.2022 Well, it is time to get our of hibernation! It is Spring already. Whilst everyone impatiently waits this weekend’s announcement, we are getting ready to re-open very soon. Fingers crossed, it is not too far to open up our doors now. We will let you know once we have a clear picture from the authorities. Thanks to all of you for your wonderful support during the last few months. It would have been much more difficult without your encouragement. ... Perhaps, it is time to share some of the changes we did for the ones who didn’t have a chance to visit us in recent weeks. Let’s start with our old sign. As promised, we didn’t want to lose that part of our history so we have (in a way) recycled them. The good old signs are now welcoming you at our two car parks (with 40 spots to fill!). The signs seem to like their new location - definitely warmer than the windy roof! Will keep you posted with further news. Until then, keep warm & be safe.

21.01.2022 Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! We have decided to use the opportunity to focus on our exciting new menu this week. See you after the lockdown. ... Stay safe X

21.01.2022 Please say welcome to our new menu! We are so excited for you to discover our new dishes. And for a bit of a cheeky surprise, we will continue our takeaway with this whole menu! (You would have already seen this if you checked out our new website recently, so no changes there!) Thank you all for the support throughout this interesting time.

20.01.2022 Very sparkling... One of the new features we have installed during the hibernation is a couple of taps where you can enjoy something exciting. Italian by design, this Moda system will offer premium still & sparkling water straight out of tap. Whilst enjoying your dine-in, simply ask one of our friendly staff to bring still/sparkling in reusable bottles or simply self-serve (they are conveniently located in the middle of the Tea Rooms). And don't be shy and drink as much as y...ou want - nothing will come up on your bill! It is not only that - this system is an environmental friendly setup as it is proven to reduce the in-house power and water consumption significantly. This means, we will all be contributing to a lesser footprint. Hope you will all enjoy it very soon. PS. Working towards our opening - will start with take-away first. More to come

18.01.2022 Kelly Our local artist for February is Kelly Kondis from Sherbrooke. Kelly's beautiful artwork is now on display at the Tea Rooms’ Artist Wall. You can purchase her paintings starting from $25. With the Valentine's Day around the corner, a great chance to buy a piece for your loved ones whilst supporting the locals. Remember, all contributions fully go to our artists. Here is Kelly's story. KELLY KONDIS - @kelkonart Visual Artist... Landscapes, nature and free flowing abstracts are my usual subjects. Self-employed, a mum of 3, a passionate renovator, a holiday rental host and a creative spirit. Living between the Dandenong Ranges and the Mornington Peninsula, I am never wanting for inspiration. I have created pieces for our renovation projects and for friends and family - primarily with oil on canvas. Now working from my studio in Sherbrooke in the hills, I depict recreated photos of our family travels and of our beautiful local areas along with places that are purely born from my imagination. Slightly impressionistic, tonal and occasionally abstract, my artworks tend to have both detailed and blurred windows. I have found myself lately enjoying more watercolour pieces and when wanting to surrender control of my medium, I love to work with alcohol ink on paper and ceramics to let the abandon of the fluidity decide the outcome of the piece.

18.01.2022 Our VIP customer, Eric was a bit late for today’s High Tea. He eventually enjoyed a relaxed afternoon at the Tea Rooms as usual.

17.01.2022 Local Artists’ Wall We are glad to let you know that our "Art Wall" is refurbished and ready to welcome local artists for many years to come. As part of The Tea Rooms’ tradition, we like to support our local community that has so much talent to explore. Within our available space, we will encourage a new artist to display his or her art on our wall every 1-2 months. With the new Art-Rail we have installed, it will make it much easier to position the frames without the... need of a single nail. The art pieces can be located anywhere and at any height. The only limitation will be the artist’s imagination. We will not charge any fees or commissions for art sales, so all contributions will be a direct full support to our wonderful artists. Our first artist is Montana from Kallista. She deserves a separate post for that, so you just need to patiently wait few more days. Until then, please enjoy a glimpse of her together with Sankar and Sara, whilst we were working on the configurations. We feel privileged to have Montana’s artwork on our wall. PS. We are getting close to finalising our new menus. First one in action will be our Take-Away menu, since we don’t want to wait until all phases are lifted. Will keep you posted in coming days - almost there!

16.01.2022 Hi everyone! We are here to let you know that we will be open during the long weekend including Labour Day on Monday, 8th of March. It also happens to be the International Women’s Day, so let’s celebrate together!

16.01.2022 Finally - it is great to enjoy a bit of freedom" and first days of summer! A quick note about our upcoming online booking system before we talk about Montana. You will see a button now for our bookings (on our Facebook, then Instagram & website soon). It will be activated next week (early December) where you can easily book a table & get confirmation within seconds. Of course, you can still do it the traditional way by just calling us. However, this post is not about... that.. so let’s all have a look at Montana and her great artwork. MONTANA We were delighted to have Montana’s artwork on our Artist Wall last few weeks. Before we welcome another local artist, you still have a chance to see her artwork in person (and even Montana if you are lucky) for another week or so. Until then, please enjoy few details of her artwork here. Here is Montana. ....My name is Montana While. I'm 28 years old and have had a love for bright colours/being creative from a young age. I’m a Self -Taught artist and have been painting on and off for about 7 years now. I started to really fall in love with painting after a healing experience I had around 2012. It set me off to start a whole new journey of being persistently creative and putting all my energy into painting again. I enjoy working with acrylic paint on canvas, doing anything bright, abstract with vibrant colours. I believe a little more colour/pattern can really bring a lot of happiness and positivity into your life. I've grown up around nature my entire life and hope to stay around it always because I find it is what inspires me and keeps me grounded. I am listening to a lot of different styles of music whilst painting, depending on what kind of mood I am in. A lot of people ask me if I plan what I paint before I am painting but I actually never know. It comes from imagination and choosing certain colours I’m feeling that day. I’m on a journey to hopefully help inspire those who believed they could not paint or do anything creative - to show everyone that they do have a creative outlet and they should give it a go and enjoy the journey as that's how I started I have a Facebook page with all of my work I have completed over the years so far, if you would like to see more. "Montana's Colourful Land" https://www.facebook.com/MontanasColorfulLand/ Thank you for taking the time to read. . Kind Regards, Montana

16.01.2022 Lidia & Elena Our artist(s) for this month are sisters Lidia and Elena Kukuy who were born in Saint Petersburg. They got their creativity spirit from their grandfather, who loved art and encouraged both girls to see and reflect beautiful things around. Since their childhood, they captivated the moments of joy and beauty in everyday life in their photographs and paintings. Elena graduated from Russian Academy of Art in Saint Petersburg. She invites viewers to contemplate and ...enjoy the moments of ever-changing harmony of nature. Lidia is a nature lover and amateur photographer. She often gives Elena inspiration for her works, some of which you can see in the Kallista Tea Rooms. Enjoy their lovely art pieces until end of April.

15.01.2022 Meet Fred! This little Gingerbread guy became one of the favourites of last week. You will see Fred more often walking around the Tea Rooms, telling back of house stories & its secrets to you all in coming months. He is accompanied with his (house-made) cookie friends: Yoyos, Monte Carlos, Choc Chips and many more. ... It was great to see you all, lovely locals last week. We finally made it! We are right now 5 days a week (Mon & Tue closed); however we will be back to 7 days in November. Seat-in is not too far either.
