25.01.2022 Lucky enough to test my new business operating model last month - FINALLY got to take a month on the road and operate a business that not only survived, but was able to grow and thrive while doing so. It's been a dream for years, but being tied to an office or some form of bricks and mortar building has been a real nemesis of mine... So finally did it in January - working holiday (someone hashtag #workation). Up in the morning for yoga or a body surf (the occasional surfboar...d "surf", if you'd call what I do on a board "Surfing")... then into a co-working space, or cabin, or cool cafe for a few hours to get the job done... then back out into the sun/sand/sea in the evening. Met some unbelievably cool people, recorded an impromptu interview with Hayley Talbot, owner of Blanc Space Agency in Yamba (watch this space for the video), and the ultimate test was passed... The business at the end of January was bigger than the business at the start of January. So here we are, the last week of Feb (already... yikes!) and I'm looking ahead to when I'll do it all again... Thinking April. My question to you, should you choose to take it on... What percentage complete is your business, right now, away from you being able to take a 1-month #workation, and have the business be bigger in 30 days than it is now? 15.01.2022 The only thing you're really selling: Certainty. Your prospect is uncertain about something, that's why they've come to you... Your answers provide Certainty (or not, in which case you're not making sales!), and certainty comes in many forms:... Coaching gives people a sense of being in control and like they're going somewhere... Clothes/sporting/personal product retailers give people a sense of looking good/feeling good (ultimately helps to fill the gap in the "Am I good enough?" quandry)... Food outlets satisfy healthy justifications, when resourceful, or give the Dopamine rush of junk food when used unresourcefully - both Certain outcomes... When I work with Elite athletes on mindset, guess what the #1 focus is? Yup... Certainty. Personal trainers - massage therapists - manufactureres - insurance salespeople - real estate - ad nauseum EVERYTHING being sold, sells certainty. Getting the picture yet? So your #1 goal in any networking/lead generation/sales conversation is to provide CERTAINTY... The more detail you use, the more confusion you add (contrary to what most people do in long-winded sales calls)... In the 'Art Of War', Sun Tzu says "Every battle is won or lost before it is ever fought" In the 'Art Of Selling Stuff', Kam says "Every sale is made in the first 60 seconds of a call, not the last 60" Certainty, from second #1... Got get 'em legends!

We do it to feel good, we do it to look good, we do it to compassionately help our fellow man "There but by the grace of God goes me" It doesn't matter what your reason, it only matters that you're doing it.... I'm on a rant It actually happened... out of all of our clients, this morning I opened the email to see the first and only "Hey can we pause payments because (Corona something)"... I get it, it's my newest client who's only been going for 4 weeks, so the transition is still very new. ... Like all clients though, he asked for accountability. We discussed the pain, who he must become and we even predicted that this would happen... But we don't pause you - I'm your coach, and if I relent here because it will ease some short term pain, then I fail you long-term. Every. Single. Time. I've been in this coaching game nearly 10 years, and worked with over 1,000 business owners, and 1 thing I know to be true: If this short-term pain is eased, as dictated by the client, then they will never come back and worse... it will take them YEARS to recover. Doing this short term pain easing let's clients down SO much. It's tears the soul apart. They come to you to learn and grow and BECOME... Letting them off in their darkest hour reinforces their small game. It says very clearly "I'm not really prepared to fight for you in this." Coaches: These conversations are uncomfortble... step up and tackle it head on - NOW is the time to prove your real worth. Stand toe-to-toe with these clients and FIGHT TO THE DEATH. Fight FOR them, don't fight WITH them. Clients (Business Owners): If you are in your darkest hour... NOW is the time for you to dig deeper into your soul than you've ever dug before. If you have a coach... kick, scream, fight them, challenge them, do whatever it takes for you feel that new version of yourself... your 2.0 upgrade. If you don't have a coach... get people on your team who won't hug you and tell you everything will be ok... get people who will say "Fuck you and your excuses, get it done and prove yourself right now". 03.01.2022 The Entrepreneur Myth (seems like a rant, but there's a lesson, I promise) If you started a business and work in it... you're not an entrepreneur, you're a business operator If you bought an investment property... you're not an entrepreneur, you're an investor... If you own a business, and it can run and still grow without you... you're not an entrepreneur, you're a business owner (who's grown from an operator) If you buy, build, grow, invest in businesses for the sole purpose of profiting from their growth, and sale... Guess what? You Are An Entrepreneur. So what though? Most business owners/operators want to be entrepreneurs, and they call themselves such, but the reality is, they're not. This is super important to understand... because business operators calling themselves entrepreneurs, don't get the success (or journey) of the entrepreneur, and that keeps them often feeling frustrated, like a failure or an imposter. The subtle difference is in the MINDSET. When you KNOW what an entrepreneur truly is, then you start seeing the world through the eyes of a true entrepreneur. When this happens, you start to shift the way you do things. when this happens... you start to shift your results DRAMATICALLY. This 'coaching' business I have, is an owner/operator business. Here, I am an artist/business owner. However, knowing what I know about what a true entrepreneur does, I am forced to ask myself daily: "How can I fully automate and transfer the technical skills so that at any time, I can turn this business into a saleable asset" An entrepreneurs thinking. Not better, worse or otherwise... just different. So, if you want to be an entrepreneur, and you're currently a business owner/operator, you can shift literally in the next 60seconds by asking the questions an entrepreneur asks themselves.
