24.01.2022 Our law firm's new name, Kamara Lawyers & Advisors, is out today - and we are proud of it. We hope you'll notice it. Our goal in setting up this firm was to give our community a sense of justice, empathy, robust representation and an insight into how the justice system operates. In our fifth year running, we have had 79 per cent in success rate across our six (6) practice areas - Criminal Law, Family Law, Conveyancing/Property Law, Commercial/General Litigation, Sports Law, a...nd Tax Law. We have changed our name, but what we have not change is our strong sense of and commitment to justice, our empathy towards our clients and making sure that we explain the law and its implications to our clients. We hope that we will recognise our new name and logo - no matter where you find us, whether online or bill boards - to see us and recognise us. Should you have any matter relating to the above, please contact us today on 0287732684 to have an obligation free, confidential discussion, noting that we can provide you an expert advice and efficient represenation all throughout.

13.01.2022 Significant Win On Appeal! Yesterday (26.11.2020), all charges were dismissed and conviction was quashed in relation to our client after a local court convicted her and sentenced her to a Community Correction Order (CCO) for a period of 18 months. Our client was earlier charged with three (3) counts of recklessly deal with property suspected of being proceeds of crime. At the outset, we plea bargained and the first two (2) counts were withdrawn and she pleaded to the third. W...e knew that she might have had some form of PTSD as a result of her difficult and traumatic child and upbringing. At sentence before the local court, we made a s. 32 application which failed, after two submitting a psych report from her treating doctor and another psych report from an indepenent forensic psychologist. His Honour failed to give due and reasonable weight to those reports and failed to take into account the level of involvement of our client in the criminal syndicate and that her moral culpability was reduced to zero because of her proven mental illness. His Honour proceeded to convict her and sentenced to her to 18 months of CCO. We appealed. We instructed a brilliant counsel in Mr Stephen Hopper, who appeared on appeal before the District Court and outlined arguments in relation to our client's mental illness and her moral culpability. The Court agreed and all charges were dismissed, quashing our client's earlier conviction and making a s. 32 order. Should you have any matter relating criminal law, please contact us today on 0287732684 to have an obligation free, confidential discussion about your matter, noting that we can provide an expert advice and efficient represenation all through your court litigation.
