22.01.2022 Rumours has it, that purple tea is one of the best tea. But why? We believe it might be something new to you! Yes, there is a tea known as Purple Tea. This tea comes from the same plant camellia sinensis as the rest of Black, Oolong, Green & White tea.... There is lots of difference between all types of tea, like level antioxidants, caffeine content & tannins. But you'll be surprised! Purple tea has less tannins compared to green tea. Also, less caffeine. According to The Kenyan Tea Research Institute is officially known as TRFK 306 but informally is known as Purple Tea as the look and the colour of the tea leaf. This is due to the high presence of anthocyanins that one would find in any purplish food like blueberries, cranberries, grapes, red cabbage. We believe this would give tough competition with green tea that is grown on the foothills of Mt. Kenya at an altitude of between 4,500 and 7,500 feet above the sea level in colder conditions.
