10.01.2022 TODAY, as we welcome KAMPOENG We decided to begin the journey to the west of Indonesia which is SUMATRA ISLAND, one of Indonesia’s largest island & the sixth largest island in the world. Sumatra is one of the food heaven destination in Indonesia. Their food is strongly influenced by Middle Eastern & Indian culture.... Sumatra food using very traditional recipes containing a larger variety of spices and ingredients that you hardly find anywhere else. And our first dish is called TAKWA or it’s popular known as Tau Kua He Ci This dish celebrates Tofu as part of daily staples during our childhood in Binjai, a small town about 25km from Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. The tofu is flash fried and smothered in sweet sour thick gravy with side of water spinach, bean sprout, pickled cucumber, green chilli sauce and topped with crispy home made prawn cracker, pork & prawn sausage, and crispy prawn tempura style. It is a very unique dish to Binjai town only but hugely popular through out Medan until Jakarta capital cities.
