25.01.2022 I've gone too far.. Reflecting upon my last month I can see that I pushed my energy to it's capacity and now I'm feeling the fatigue and the general imbalance. Time to refocus on nurturing myself.... So, this month I am committing: ~ scheduled nights for self-care ~ less caffeine (1 coffee per week) and more adaptogens (working with reishi, ashwagandha and maca at the mo) ~ reclaiming my energy with awareness (I'll do daily journal check-ins) ~ planning my meals so I nourish myself regularly What are you committing to this month? State it out loud below to sign a compassionate contract with yourself
23.01.2022 My Ayurvedic kitchen on the road ~ Our sweet fam is heading up to Airlie Beach on a 10 day road trip soon and I seriously can't wait. I've been working my lil toosh off non stop this year and so I'm eager for the break. It's going to be a much needed opportunity to really digest how much growth has bloomed from the past year. In saying this, I will be away from the temple from the 27th of November and most probably on the 4th of December. ... We plan on stopping at a few key places along the way but I'd love to hear if you have any suggestions of your own? Share your secret little oases along the Queensland coast with me
23.01.2022 Drink this in: Each individual expression of pure consciousness (i.e. you and I) is really working collectively towards the greater good of the whole (the universe). This means that the collective consciousness (God, the universe) decided that it needed your existence for it’s evolution ~ your existence was manifested out of necessity. Meaning, we exist at this time and place for a reason and we all have a special role to play. This is our dharma or our purpose. New blog post out and it's all about the vedic practice of manifestation. This blog will highlight the path to manifesting your most fulfilling life. Find it in this edition of the Kandala Yoga newsletter along with a yin yoga video, Ayurvedic tonic and more. Check your inboxes.
23.01.2022 With holiday season around the corner, here are some key pointers to keep in mind to avoid tiredness, sluggishness and heaviness that can come with vacational indulgence. Eating and acting in accordance to the seasons and the temperature can make a world of difference in your mind-body experience. Savour more of the enjoyment by making a few mindful choices while still doing all of the things you love. This one is for summer holidays. Shall I do a winter one too for all of ou...r northern hemi family? Save this for your next holiday and tell me if you notice the difference.
22.01.2022 Medicine ~ it's so much easier to grab a pill, take the vitamins, get a massage or see someone else to help with our problems that we forget about the healing power within us and within the Earth. Have I lost your interest? I haven't been on insta for very long in comparison to many and so this whole social media thing has been a bit of an eye opener in terms of human behaviour. I can see the patterns in my unfollows, my likes (or lack thereof) and engagement the second I sta...rt talking about our own medicinal powers. No one wants to hear that they're both the cause and the remedy of their struggles. We just want the quick fix and for someone else to do it for us (and also for the others to keep the blame too). And I COULD cater to these people and empathise on the daily about how hard life gets (coz it is, depending on where you're choosing to with your perception) OR I can just continue to remind the people who are ready to hear it that all of what they are searching for is already within your grasp (and lose the others along the way ). It takes a bit of patience, perseverance, willingness AND oodles of self-compassion but the reward is paradigm shifting via a quantum leap. So anyway, here was my snippet of self-medicine from today. As a family we go out bush at least every Monday to stay connected to what's real and disconnected from the BS. Today in the cradling arms of Mother Nature, I was reminded that slowing down is necessary, anything is possible and it's all going to be ok in the end. And that was my medicine today ~ galvanising my soul in empowered truth and I feel so good about it. Better than any pill or doctor could ever do for me. Tell me what's soothing your soul at the moment?
22.01.2022 How often do you struggle to make decisions or find yourself regretting the choices you've made? This was regularly for me ~ constantly disappointed in myself that I said yes when I should have said no and no when I should have said yes. Once I sat down and sorted out my most heartfelt values (my top 3 to be exact), I began to set strong boundaries and found myself flourishing from the decisive steps I'd take. Now, every choice I make boils down to the impact it has on my hea...lth, my integrity and my freedom. When our values are well defined, we can make decisions that we always align with. Our values help us to set necessary boundaries and behave in a way that leaves us feeling connected to our personal truth. This way we avoid feeling deflated by our choices and instead aligned with our right path (dharma), confident in our decisions and more harmonious with our lives. This month's newsletter includes a journaling practice to assist the refinement of your own personal values. There's also a blog post on manifestation ~ the Vedic way, a simple Ayurvedic tonic for the holidays recipe, a Yin Yoga video for self-connection and more. Coming this week ~ if you're not on my mailing list yet but would like to join please send me your email address and I'll be sure to add you.
20.01.2022 Authenticity & Integrity ~ to me, as a Yoga mentor, it's: ~ practising what you preach ~ remembering that you're always learning - humility and a beginner's mind towards everything ~ non-judgement of myself and others... ~ sticking to scholar-based truths about Yoga traditions and and the sciences related to them ~ remaining culturally sensitive ~ holding space for others for every season of life (it's always about the client - you) I truly could go on as I deeply value these qualities in my life. That's why I created "Embodied Being" based on all of these points. This immersion is the most up-to-date truths about Yoga that have been proven and practiced over centuries. They have been personally experienced by myself and have transformed my life in ways that I couldn't even begin to explain here. Once we gather together in Satsang this October, we will make all of this magic translate into the lives of each member in a way that fits their own journey. If you're looking to uncover more about Yoga while finding a more loving connection with yourself and your life, there are 2 places left. Link in bio for all the details or send me a message with any of your questions. I'd love to hear from you.

19.01.2022 How lucky am I to be surrounded by this collective of potent, wise, powerful, compassionate (I could go on) medicine women? Each of them have had such an impact on me and have helped me to grow in every aspect of my being and lordy am I grateful. It's so nice to just take a moment and reflect upon the unfolding of these past 9 months and how far Kandala Yoga has expanded within the heart of our healing temple @spirit_earth_reiki alongside all of my sisters here.... I've held circles, sound healing, meditations, reiki, Yoga, kirtan, ceremony, breathwork, Yoga philosophy mentoring, Ayurvedic consults and more. Soon we'll do our sacred journey for Embodied Being and then there's so much more to come! Can't wait to see where it all grows from here. For all of us. @ali_l_loves @bianca__wildlunareiki @mayflower_wellbeing @loveyouliveyoulyly @spirit_earth_reiki
19.01.2022 What part of the tree are you? When we look to nature it gives us a window into the nature within too. This is an incredibly generalised look at a tree and what we can draw from it in our daily lives. Next time you're outside see if you can observe with a sense of curiosity and see how many links there are between you and Gaia. Which part of the tree are you today?... L E A V E S: constantly moving, spending lots of time floating in the mind, focussed on dreaming up ideas and creating, changing plans often, lacking direction or spreading yourself thin? To find more stability: practice yoga that is close to the ground, exercises that gently warm but don't overstimulate (not too much vinyasa), pranayama to soothe your nervous system and meditation that focuses on a single point (tradaka is great). S T E M: strong direction, in control (maybe sometimes a little too "in control"), precise, focussed, structured, always engaging the intellect. Find more balance: Yin yoga, gentle Pranayama and hatha yoga, aquatic activities, walking on the Earth. Avoid hot, power and vinyasa yoga. R O O T S: grounded but sometimes stubborn, feeling lethargic or heavy, a tendency to grasp or cling onto ideas or people, great staying power or ability to stay sound even when things get chaotic. Increase lightness: stimulating exercises like vinyasa and hot yoga, fast sun salutations or standing asana, more dynamic pranayama (kapalabhati), walking meditation.
19.01.2022 Do you feel supported? Like, truly supported in every facet of your existence? Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly and ask yourself this: "How can I feel more supported in my life?"... What was your answer? Was it to: ~ make more time for myself ~ learn to ask for help ~ learn to say no ~ to stop fighting the current and surrender? So many of the incredible women I work and speak with are saying the same thing: I need more support. We've lost the feeling of a tribe, a village, a community (whatever your lineage called it) and as human beings this was never meant to be the way. An integral part of the Tantrik path was to have a Kula or Sangha ~ a community of like-minded, intentional people who can validate you and help illuminate the light within you. Because trying to do it alone in this very world is near impossible. If you feel this in any way then trust that you WILL find those people (be it teachers, friends or family). Because once we open up to listening to our needs we begin to call in the antidote ~ it's cause and effect, baby. Our own sangha joins together in only 1 more month ~ Embodied Being (Oct. 17 - Nov. 21). Here we will not only find our people but also embody all the tools needed to serve ourselves in our daily lives. All the details are found in the link in my bio or ask me any questions at any time. Your sangha is waiting for you ~ you just have to follow the calls.
18.01.2022 "Openness, or conscious Presence, is the sole means of unveiling your innate Bliss." ~ Christopher Hareesh Wallis Take a moment for yourself, now in this moment, and see if you can "just be".... No effort to focus on anything. It's a moment of noticing the here and now through your open, expanded senses. How do you feel? Art @studiopriestess
17.01.2022 You could be eating all the salads, acai & vitamins in the world and still be undernourished. In Ayurveda, digestion is everything. Because if our digestive fire (agni) isn't balanced then we can't expect the rest of our health to be either. If we don't have the right level of digestive capabilities then we don't have the ability to break down our food and absorb all of the vitamins & minerals adequately. Without proper digestion, our bodily tissues suffer and we can start to... feel fatigued, foggy in the mind, out of balance with our moon cycle, skin and hair problems show up and/or fertility can become compromised too. It always comes back to agni ~ we ask; is it too hot? Too variable? Too weak? So if you've spent $100s on vitamins and aren't feeling much difference then turn to your digestion. Otherwise you're just spending your hard earned cash on expensive wee. We will go into this a little deeper in Embodied Being (which is only 2 weeks away ~ link in bio or DM me anytime). We will diagnose your digestive fire (agni) so that you can eat accordingly and reap all the benefits of your delicious and nutritious meals.
16.01.2022 So here I was... I had just given birth in the most magical way ~ everything I had done to prepare had paid off and I was so elated b u t so damn exhausted. I had a 28 hour labour and rather than being able to take some rest after the marathon I just ran, I had to go to work ~ on call 24/7. A job where I could never "go home" from. Breastfeeding on demand while also nurturing the mother that was birthed the same day. Fast forward 12 months and I had been so consumed by this... new role that I forgot who I was. I barely made time for myself anymore and mostly because I felt that I couldn't. Whether you're a mum, a partner, a worker, business owner or trying to figure things out, it is so easy to be consumed by our roles that we end up chasing them to no end. When we sharply define ourselves by societal stereotypes we forget who we really are. It's a constant see-saw of trying to fit the mould, break the mould then fit back into it over and over again. Sometimes it's hard to know where our truth really begins and where the mould ends. I honestly don't know where I would have ended up if I didn't have the Yogic tools under my belt. It definitely made it easier for me to step out of the chaos and back into the depths of my being. I had to for the sake of my wellbeing (& therefore my family's). It's for those of us that feel lost in our roles and expectations that I created Embodied Being. 6 weeks dedicated to finding your peace, your truth and all the tools to keep you a priority in daily life. Because once we feel embodied in this everything else falls in it's place.
16.01.2022 4 days in and here's what I've learnt . . . . It's been 4 days of a semi tech detox (as much as I could manage seeing as I'm heading off in 2 days ~ I have things to finalise, ya know?) and day 2 of a kitchari cleanse.... In our final week of Embodied Being, I joined the women in solidarity to allow space for all of the wisdom we have soaked in to digest and integrate. A fundamental aspect that we don't nearly allow enough time for in this fast-paced society. It's been wonderfully full of insights and loving reminders which I want to share: 1. I love my home 2. Boredom breeds creativity ~ sit with it sometime 3. Gardening is so much easier when it's mindful and intuitive 4. I actually enjoy sharing pockets of wisdom on this little virtual space 5. Switching off was easy ~ I just needed an excuse to put it down 6. I never get sick of Kitchari 7. The body and mind can heal so quickly when we allow the space 8. My being has come so far this year and is feeling so good from all of my conscious efforts 9. Slow life and work life can live side by side 10. I am wholeheartedly, 1000% on the right path and am completely grateful for it. How has your week been? Have you learnt anything new?
15.01.2022 Don't let them make you believe that you are small. You are: ) The Atomic Soul ) Pure Consciousness (Purusha) ) The Cosmic Force of Creation (Prakruti)... ) Cosmic Intelligence (Mahad) ) Your "I"ness, Ego (Ahamkar) You are the microcosm of the macrocosm; ~ the 5 elements (earth, water, fire, air, aether) ~ 5 sense organs (ears, eyes, skin, tongue, nose) ~ and their senses (hear, sight, touch, taste, smell). There is an incredible amount of potential in each and every single one of us. We already harness everything that we need to heal, to thrive and to live a meaningful and fulfilling existence. Grasping this is a lot more simple than it sounds and the practical tools have already been handed to us through the art of Yoga and Ayurveda. Join us tomorrow for "Ayurveda: The Ancient Science of Thriving" and begin your path towards really knowing yourself. Learn practical and simple ways to live your life in alignment with your unique needs in order to thrive. With this workshop you'll be able to apply basic knowledge to direct your daily life towards one that supports you through every season. We'll look at daily and seasonal rituals, eating practices and the secret formula that gives the antidote to everything. Only a couple of tickets left ~ link in bio if one of these is calling for you. ) Golden, cosmic art by @lucia.dami
14.01.2022 h i b i s c u s ~ for women's health. At the moment I'm writing 9 recipes (3 for each dosha) and it's sending me through page upon page of herbal remedies & I ain't mad about it. My grandmother (Yiayia) has always had hibsicus in her garden & I was always drawn to pick one and carry it around with me.... Then, when I worked for a tea company I was finding myself pouring big, warm, red cups of hibiscus tea (with a squeeze of lime juice ~ yum). Now that I see these Ayurvedic benefits I feel just that little bit more connected to this flower. Perhaps you will too? Here's a few remedies that I have come across that I thought were worth sharing. What remedies would you like to see next?
14.01.2022 I crave culture and devotion ~ it's where my heart sings. In our culture and for many others in the world, every moment is considered sacred. My childhood was sparkled with so many devotional memories. I remember making bread with my grandmother as she poured her love and prayer into every loaf. She sealed it with a cross and covered it, sincerely, with a tea towel allowing it time to rise. I remember; altars burning endlessly in our family homes, candles revered as sacred li...ght, kissing icons with our hands to our hearts, a prayer for every candle lit and incense to carry our prayers to the heavens as the smoke enveloped us with protection. It's no surprise to me that this is why I feel such a strong connection to Bhakti Yoga, India, Nepal and all of their histories. I have no doubt that I was a sannyasi in a past life if not many before. So, I sit here now and realise it's October ~ prime hiking season in Nepal. I had plans to travel with a group to Annapurna this year but we shall await for the right timing. Then I'll be able to make offerings at temples with the smell of ghee lamps and incense filling the marigold-lined streets once again. I feel the song of my heart growing just thinking about it. If you could be anywhere in the world right now where would you be?
14.01.2022 Stop for a moment and honestly consider this because therein lies your lasting peace. Have you ever contemplated this before? Take a moment and have a journalling session over this question. When we really consider it we can uncover some paradigm shifting power within it and that's from my personal experience.... Inquire within your being and ask the questions we don't normally consider like: Can you find complete contentment within your life exactly as you are? Do you need external happiness & gratification? Why is that? Have you ever really experienced this kind of enduring happiness & inner peace? I wish these were the types of questions we were use to asking ourselves. If we all focused on our own real happiness (the kind that survives every storm) then the world would be such a different place. It breaks my heart to see the world suffer ~ the Earth & her inhabitants. Especially when you know there's another way. So let me ask you; where do you find your truest and most enduring happiness?
14.01.2022 What's your favourite thing about Spring? I sincerely enjoy every season but Spring always feels like a romance novel playing out in reality. The flowers bloom, the sun starts to shine a little longer and the animals are courting their springtime lovers. It's also the perfect time of year to lighten the load and cleanse the body (& therefore the body and mind too).... If you've received my "3 Day Ayurvedic Cleanse" guide in the past then now is the time to dust it off and nurture yourself (whether you're at the start of autumn or spring). It's such a nourishing and simple way to rebalance so that you can transition into the season with vibrancy ~ just like those blooming buds. It's free so if you would like a copy of your own you can simply send me a DM with your preferred email address at anytime.
14.01.2022 The secret to self-healing is:: The 20 Gunas or the 10 opposing pairs. ~ you'll want to save this for future reference.... If you learn one thing about Ayurveda, let it be this. When we start to think about our mental, physical & spiritual health using these qualities we can start to remedy our ailments all on our own. Ayurveda works on the principle of "like increases like" and so to reduce an unwanted symptom we need to combat it with the opposite quality. We can absorb our antidote from just about anything we interact with e.g. food, yoga practices, exercises, essential oils, clothes and so on. Here's all of this in motion... SYMPTOM: stress THE SYMPTOM IN GUNAS: mobile (fidgeting, constantly moving), light (lacking a sense of grounding) THE OPPOSING PAIR: stable and heavy REMEDY: create some stability in your life with a simple routine. Use heavy blankets or pillows and rest them over your body to gain a sense of groundedness. . . And that's how simple self-healing can be. The trick is to put it into practice and to start describing things using the gunas. What do you think?
13.01.2022 Fill in the blank ~ ...... Here's mine: Aligned with my most meaningful life. Totally connected to every inch of my being and to the cosmos around me.... I honestly don't know where I'd be without it? Like really.... wow, I've never properly reflected on that until now. I couldn't even imagine it really but I definitely don't think that I would be truly happy without it. I'd still be lost. Inspire us with your own reflections on how Yoga leaves you feeling. Either comment below or share to your stories and fill in the blanks. Don't forget to tag me because I'd love to see
12.01.2022 ~Affirmations for the heart~
11.01.2022 Play Along~ This is a D.I.Y Devotional Living Playlist. Music has and always will be a massive part of my life. I am always asked what songs I use during class, what mantra to use while cooking and what songs will help with Sanskrit learning. Today I thought it'd be fun to share some of my favourite songs/artists/playlists while learning some of yours. Together we could create the most epic playlists that make life feel extra special.... To "play along", screenshot the blank slide , fill it in and then share it to your feed or stories. Tag or nominate 2 or 3 friends to join in. Don't forget to tag me so I can see too and I'll share them to my stories. Let's see what kind of playlist we can create. If I get enough then I will make 4 playlists and give you all the links. I am going to nominate @nica.yogicoach, @gracetealeyoga and @eyeofhorusyoga
09.01.2022 There's a reason why I often post affirmations and, ultimately, it comes down to the potency of Sankalpa ~ heartfelt intention. When we walk with sincerity and a strong awareness of our sankalpa then we begin to live more purposefully and meaningfully. We start to satiate our desires because we begin to attract the path that is right for us. Aligned, fulfilled and radiant.... What intentions are you working with at the moment?
09.01.2022 When was the last time you had a sensual, loving & connected dream? The one that charms you and allures to want to stay in your dreamscape. Do you know what they're saying? For anyone who has a moon cycle, take note next time you have one of these dreams and get back to me ~ kind of like a public experiment. Usually they come around the Kapha time of our inner seasons which means...... There's a good chance you're about to ovulate or are ovulating. Our dreams are telling us that we're primed to conceive and ready to be loved and to create love. Deciphering the gentle messages sent from our body and mind intertwined is my greatest joy. If it's yours too (& you live in Brisbane), join me for a Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultation where we can uncover your mind~body language together. DM me for more information or to set up a time. Picture from @nightydrunklovers
07.01.2022 Your bedroom should be reserved only for sleeping and sex. This means no phones, no clocks, no TV, not even any reading. If you have any of these ~ check in with the quality of your sleep. Do you wake up feeling rested? Do you sleep without waking through the night?... These are rules that I live by but I consciously broke them today. Some days I just want to snuggle into the comfort of my bed to feel connected to the nourishment I want to imbue in my work. I was putting together the handouts for next Sunday's women's circle and was joined by my two furry pals. One stayed for the photo but the other has a high level of Vata and jumped off as soon as I did. Sweet dreams for tonight my loves. Some tickets still available for next Sunday if you're in the Brisbane area. Link in bio of course x.
06.01.2022 A sacred circle to renew, recalibrate and realign for the year ahead. As 2020 draws closer to it's end, we will gather together to take a moment to review the year that has been ~ to drink in all the positives, reassess our mindset and align our energy and intentions to carry us into the next year. The morning will include:... ~ guided meditation with crystal sound alchemy ~ soulful conversations ~ pranayama and kriya to reset the nervous system ~ Yoga Nidra (conscious Yogic sleep) to access the subconscious mind and set our heartfelt intentions I look forward to joining with you in circle on December 20th. Tickets can be found in the link in my bio.
06.01.2022 REIKI ~ brings you home. It reforms the balance of the whole. It's the warmth of a loving hug and the touch of a compassionate heart that transports you back to the safety and completeness of your being. There are so many ways I've heard it described, but to me, I feel it's all of this and more. Reiki has been countlessly praised for supporting the symptoms of:... ~ stress and anxiety ~ symptoms of disconnection ~ sadness and depression ~ pain relief ~ various illnesses ~ energy/emotional blockages ~ fatigue ~ insomnia ~ headaches And so much more. It's hands-on (and off) energy healing where life-force energy is compassionately transferred into the receiver. You rest in a beautifully serene room with gentle music on (if you wish) while a mysteriously tranquil environment envelops you. The process can feel warm or you may experience some tingling sensations. It is a deeply relaxing process often with results that even the most sceptical people can't seem to explain. Appointments available every Friday with me @spirit_earth_reiki. I have 1 appointment left for this week at 2pm. If this is calling you then please DM me and I'll settle you into this spot.
02.01.2022 We've become so accustomed to sealing our classes with this word that, for many, we have barely stopped to consider it's rightful origins and meaning. You have probably heard that it's translation is something like, "the light in me honours the light in you". But in all honesty, this is more of an "embellished" translation of it's sanskrit origins which would be closer to "I bow to you" ~ meaning the eternal you. While it's still somewhat similar, the fact that it has been im...bued with a more loaded meaning here in the West and then monetised (on t-shirts, mugs, etc) or turned it into a meme is when we really need to start questioning our respect of cultures and of the practice of Yoga itself. It's no secret that the Yoga we mostly see today is incredibly different to what was originally handed down. While it continues to grow, evolve and adapt across the world, it's so important that we remain honourable in our teachings. Being mindful of what we share as "authentic yoga" and "adapted yoga" so we don't confuse Yoga's history and weaken it's integrity in a game of Chinese whispers. With this, I suppose I'm talking about the teachings beyond Namaste too like the asana or the chakras which I spoke on earlier this year. I don't use Namaste because it feels culturally insensitive. It holds no ties to the authentic roots of Yoga and despite it being expected at the end of the class, I choose to end class with an "Om" instead. Saying Om is like saying, "and so it is". This post isn't to rub anyone up the wrong way and it's not to judge anyone who may use namaste. It was born from a simple hope that it will get us thinking about what and how we are really teaching & practicing. And with our continual learning and relearning may we continue to uphold the heart of Yoga so that it doesn't become lost or muddled. Om
