23.01.2022 I just want to point out how nice it is to see some inspirational people out in the community Marleen Row has been weeding and Gardening in the Culgoa Barry Park today and I couldn’t help myself take a few sneaky pictures to show everyone how lucky we are to have her. Her Husband Tim quite often joins in as well.... Now this is not the first time Marleen has been weeding the Gardens I have seen her do this on multiple occasions through out the years and thought id post it here so other could see how awesome she is. Now I should of explained that Marleen and Tim don’t follow Facebook so are non the wiser about this post but it is nice to see all the positive feedback from this post thank you

Also congratulations to Sue Allan who won the Rafel that was organised to raise money for the monthly morning teas that are held here in Culgoa. 19.01.2022 Well it been a long time coming but thank you all that turned up for the Morning Tea. It was great to see everyone in the Community getting together and having a good time. I would also like to thank everyone for understanding that we have to follow strict Covid rules and appreciate it that no offence was taken when I had to remind to socially distance some people. ... Believe me I cant wait for the day we don't have to wear the masks. Thank again everyone for turning up it was great to see you all here cheers marty and Leigh.

18.01.2022 Kaneira Hotel is Closed due to COVID 19 from Saturday 13th until Wednesday 17th and hopefully open Thursday the 18th However we are open for take away food or drinks just call us on 0431188117 cheers Marty and Leigh.

16.01.2022 Thank you everyone that turned up to Celebrate the Melbourne Cup here at the Kaneira Hotel it certainly was a good day for it. Congratulations to our wonderful Campers Dianne and Paul who won the lucky door prize and Congratulations to Marie Who won Best Hat which was made out of steel horse shoes which explains why she is walking around with a slight tilt on her head lol. Im also glad to report that a couple of wonderful ladies from Sea Lake where winners and took out the majority out of the sweeps. 10.01.2022 Ok so where open for harvest 7 days a week from now on starting today. Food orders strictly between 10am and 10pm Bistro will be open 10am to 10pm everyday ... Bar will open 4pm till 11pm everyday If you would like meals on the Go then Please look at our Menu here on Facebook and ring us so we can freshly prepare it for you and have it ready when you come to pick it up. Your also welcome to have it here in the Bistro or outside area. Everything on the Menu is available. Or look out for our Lunch specials we will be advertising during Harvest Starting with Box of Battered Fish and Chips and Softdrink for $14.50

09.01.2022 This is a support letter I wrote to beef it up Australia and thought I would share with you all. To the Premier, Pm and Jacinta Allan. My name is Martin Schoonderwoerd and am the Director / Publican of the Kaneira Hotel in Culgoa.... Culgoa is a small Country Town in the Mallee with a population of approx 100 people which are mostly made up of hard working farmers and contractors. Like us there are hundreds of similar Pubs / Hotels scattered around rural Victoria that are in exactly the same situation as us and all run under the same seasonal circumstances that I find myself here in Culgoa. Now you might think that our most profitable time would be around December just like the other Hotels in the City when it's hot and most people used to go on holidays but it's not . Here in the Mallee Being in a farming Community our busiest time of the year is starting right now and the amount of Gross profit a business could make in the next 3 months is as much as the remainder of the year. The reason for this is Harvest time ( Approx mid September till mid December ) this is the time of year when the farmers hire contractors to help harvest their crops. Now these Contractors need places to stay and eat which is where all the Hotels / Pubs make their real money which is usually enough to keep them going for another year. Because rural Victoria has such a low population Takeaways are just not sustainable here. There is a real risk that a lot of Hotels in rural Victoria will close their doors for good if they are forced to stay closed any longer and once their doors have shut it's usually the end for that Hotel which has already happened in so many other country towns even before Covid 19 was here. Once a Hotel has shut its doors in a town the town itself starts to suffer even more. Considering there are no active cases in rural Victoria the time to let us open up is now before we miss our Harvest season that has already just started. Please let us open our doors with the 1.5 square meter rule in place and maximum of 20 people per room if the room is big enough just like last time before we were forced to close. At least this way a lot of country Hotels / pubs can still make a living. Regards Marty and Leigh from the Kaneira Hotel in Culgoa

08.01.2022 Finally we have been given the green light by Mr. Daniel Andrews to open up on Thursday the 17th September which couldn't have come at a better time. Please note that we will be following strict ( Covid ) 19 rules. However It's great to be able to tell you all that we will be opening our doors again 4pm Thursday and will open up again normal hours just like last time before we were closed.... (MONDAYS WERE CLOSED ) ALL MEALS AND TAKE AWAYS ARE AVAILABLE EVERY NIGHT ( except Mondays ) FROM 4PM TILL 8PM (or if enough patrons are in bar till late) Leigh and I look forward seeing you all here again at the Kaneira Hotel till then cheers.
