22.01.2022 Hi Everyone, We wanted to give you an update regarding the global Coronavirus (Covoid-19) outbreak. At IGKS our primary concern always has been the health and wellbeing of our members and team, and we are fully committed to continuing providing you with as safe and as clean as possible training environment.... A key theme in the information being delivered by health professionals and experts is reinforcing the common knowledge that getting good sleep, eating healthy and maintaining regular exercise, are all essential steps to ensure your immune system is at its best and not compromised. Below are the measures we have taken as well as some advice on how you can best protect yourself and your fellow peers. Actions we are taking: - We always maintain regular professional cleaning services at our centres. - Each day we are regularly sanitising high-frequency touchpoints like doors, door handles, bathrooms and toilets, sitting areas, equipment, and reception to minimise risk. - We have advised all team members to follow the guidance issued by health organisations with regards to self-isolation in the event of any symptoms. - We are displaying guidance notes from the Department of Health in our centres on how to minimise the risk of infection. - We have appropriate measures ready on standby if the situation arose where any cases came into contact with the dojo. - We are working on additional solutions to help you maintain your health and wellbeing, which the current situation is highlighting the importance of. How you can help: - Frequently and thoroughly clean your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitiser. - When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with a tissue or flexed elbow, throw the tissue away immediately and wash hands. - Refrain from touching your mouth and nose. - Maintain a distance of at least 1 metre from anyone who has cold or flu-like symptoms. - If you become unwell or develop any cold or flu-like symptoms, we ask you to not attend class until feeling better for the health of those around you. - The World Health Organisation website is an excellent resource with regards to general hygiene advice and recommendations, many of which are listed in the points above. We take the health and safety or each of our clients and team members very seriously as we understand it is a critical piece in developing resilience against illness and disease. We are working hard to try and minimise any disruption to you so that you may continue to train safely and keep looking after your health and wellbeing through our strong and supportive community.

20.01.2022 Hi Everyone, I just wanted to put out a quick message to keep you up to date with where the club is around the virus. It’s a bit of a lengthy one covering a few things, so please take the time to see what is relevant to you. With the new measures announced today limiting indoor groups to 1 for every 4 square meters of floor space, we are now making a few additional changes to how we run classes and the upcoming grading. Class Changes...Continue reading

13.01.2022 The Dojo is Closed, But We're Going Online! ================= Hey Everybody!... Well, we knew it was coming but had hoped to get another week or two of classes in. Not to be! If you haven't heard the Prime Minister's announcement last night, Indoor Sporting venues are amongst those who need to close their doors from 12pm today (Monday). This is going to be reassessed each month. We'll also keep up regular communication through Facebook groups and email. So from tomorrow, we will be going virtual with our training. All of our Karate Programs will have online classes available throughout the week which will be available in our new online training group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/200865407864731/ For the bigger kids, there will be LOADS of tutorial content so you can practice your skills and drills. On top of that, we'll go regularly go live so you can ask any questions around training or techniques. (And, like any good band, we also take requests, so if there's anything you want to us to cover, let us know!) I know I've said this before, but I cannot express how grateful we are to those who are continuing to support the club in any way they can. Once we're out the other end of these trying times, you are going to be the MOST SPOILT students EVER! We won't forget your loyalty and help, we have lots of exciting seminars and other events planned that once we get back on the mats we will be delivering to you right away. If you'd like to swing by and grab a couple of mats or other equipment to train with on at home, drop us an email or give us a call (we'll be checking messages along the way). IMPORTANT! If you or your family are experiencing any hardship that we can help with, please REACH OUT! Drop us a message or email, and of course, it will all be in the strictest of confidence. It's easy to do the right thing when everything is going well. The real test, as a club and community, is when the tough times hit. So look after each other, be safe, and I'll see you on the virtual mats! Sensei Brodie

His confidence both in and outside of the Dojo, his posture and the way he carries himself, his inner and outer strength, all these and more have shown a marked improvement. As a parent, it's very important to me that my son has great role models. Thankfully, he has them at your Dojo. "... 02.01.2022 New Processes for Classes ===================== To maximise the available space and to ensure we can continue to provide a safe environment for everyone, we will be adjusting how we run certain parts of the class. As you are aware many of the drills and games we run in class are non contact so there will be minimal changes to the way we teach with the following exceptions. 1. We will be encouraging the kids to do a variety of "air hi5s" instead of karate handshakes, and fist ...bumps until further notice. 2. Karate Belts: Please ensure that these are tied before class as until further notice we will not be able to tie them for you. 3. Before classes we will be asking all participants to wash their hands thoroughly as a precautionary measure. 4. Until further notice we are suspending drills that have a physical contact component such as pad drills, self defence applications, sparring, etc. We will be substituting these with distance based drills that teach the same principles. What we want to encourage is that your child continues to participate in our programs and that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure that the dojo is safe for them and our team during this time. Thank you for your ongoing support! Sensei Brodie and the team at Booragoon Dojo
