25.01.2022 Today’s heat has kept us busy this afternoon with a tree across the road. Just a friendly reminder to stay hydrated and to take caution outside for the rest of the afternoon, and most importantly enjoy the sunshine

24.01.2022 On Friday our brigade was invited to attend the Kangarilla Primary School’s Sports Day and Colour Run. The crew had a great time showing the kids our equipment and being able to watch them all compete for the winner’s flag

23.01.2022 Don’t forget, this Friday night CFS Community Engagement Officer Jackie will be holding a Community Meeting to discuss our recent bushfire. This event definitely left some questions, concerns and uncertainty to those in the area. This forum is the perfect place to get some answers and perhaps to think about a revised plan for any such events happening again in the future. We hope to see you all there

23.01.2022 On Friday, Kangarilla Alpha 34 and three of our members joined a Mawson Strike Team to head to the Pike River Fire just outside of Renmark. Our crews worked hard to extinguish the smouldering piles of almond husks throughout the entire day. Great work to all firefighters involved and to those that are still on scene

21.01.2022 As today was the last day of school, Kangarilla Primary School and Playgroup asked Santa Claus if he could spare some time to come and visit the kids. Santa was available but unfortunately his reindeers had another function to attend so Santa hitched a ride with the Kangy crew on Kangarilla Alpha instead. Our crew had a great time driving Santa from the Kangarilla Playground through to the School so Santa could gather all of the kids present wish lists just in time for Christmas

20.01.2022 Over the weekend Kangarilla Station hosted a Mawson Basic Fire Fighting course. This course is the first course fire fighters undertake when starting their careers as a volunteer fire fighter. This weekend we successfully trained 16 new members from all of our Mawson brigades. We were very impressed to see the skill, knowledge and team work that these members showed at such an early stage of their fire fighting development. Thankyou to the trainees for giving up their weekend to undertake the course, and also a massive thank you to the trainers for volunteering their time to make this course able to happen. Welcome to the 16 new Mawson Firefighters

19.01.2022 On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, when the guns fell silent. We will remember them. LEST WE FORGET

18.01.2022 As you would have heard our fire siren sounded late this afternoon and the smoke has been strong and thick. The Kangy Team has helped join forces battling a bushfire burning through Cherry Gardens/Mount Bold. This is an update as to where we are at tonight. The fire is still burning out of control through a large area. We strongly encourage everyone to stay informed by the Alert SA app, the CFS hotline and by listening to the ABC news reports to determine your next actions. ...Please all concerned consider actioning your Bushfire Survival Plan if you haven’t already done so. It is also a huge reminder to look after each other, stay hydrated and stay indoors away from the smoke if possible. Please check on each other but particularly our elderly members of the community. The Community Progress Hall is open as a LAST RESORT REFUGE AREA so if anyone needs somewhere safe to stay please head down to the hall located at the Kangarilla Oval. Our CFS staging area is also set up there so you will see lots of appliances coming long and far to help us with this incident. We will try to keep you updated as this fire progresses but please don’t rely on Facebook for information please head to the official pages and apps. To the community of Kangarilla and surrounds please stay vigilant, stay hydrated and stay safe! Thank you for all of your support throughout this time.

18.01.2022 Reminder that this Sunday is the Kangarilla Community and Family Fun Day Come on over and say hello to our wonderful firefighters and have a look at our fire appliance. Looking forward to seeing you all there

18.01.2022 As Fire season is approaching, our community is likely to hear our fire siren on a regular basis We wanted to let our community know we will be testing our fire siren at 7:30pm Monday night every fortnight. This will begin on Monday the 26th of October 2020. What to expect: ... When we test our siren you will hear three consecutive wails of the siren. This is us testing to make sure the siren is capable to go up to capacity and back down after consecutive reps. Each wail will only last approximately 5 seconds. When we have a fire call however, you will hear our emergency siren which is heard as one long substantial tone that will hold its note for several minutes. This is the sound you will hear when you need to start considering your family’s bushfire action plan. We will be using the siren in this manner whenever there is a fire within our community that has the potential to threaten your safety. Please take some time to learn the different tones of our siren. If you hear our emergency siren please investigate the Alerts SA app to find the location and details of the fire we are responding too, and action your bushfire action plan if necessary. Please don’t hesitate to contact the CFS Hotline if you have any questions

17.01.2022 Wishing you all and your families an amazing and safe Christmas from all of us at Kangy CFS

15.01.2022 Today you would have heard our siren sound for the first time this fire season as we responded to a grass fire off of McLaren Flat road. Luckily the residents were able to extinguish the fire before our arrival but it is a very good reminder when you hear our siren to check the AlertSA App, check the Country Fire Service Website and start to think about wether you will put your Bushfire Action Plan into place

13.01.2022 At midnight last night our crews responded to a job of a different kind We were responded to help an injured koala after he was unfortunately hit by a car and decided to reside up the tallest tree. As Mr Koala needed some urgent medical attention we worked along side of Southern Koala Rescue to determine the best way to help him out. We ended up with a very diverse rescue as SA Metropolitan Fire Service joined us to use their CAPA Tanker to be able to reach him and give Mr Koala a free ride on a fire truck. We wish Mr Koala a speedy recovery. Thank you to all that assisted with his rescue, great teamwork and a job well done

13.01.2022 We would like to say a very Happy Father’s Day to all of the Dads out there today. In particular a special shoutout to all of the Dads that make up our brigade, we hope you all had a fantastic day

12.01.2022 Our crew just wanted to give a quick update on the Cherry Gardens/Mount Bold fire. We are pleased that this fire has now been contained with no current warning messages active. This fire has burnt more than 2700 hectares of scrub and grassland. Thankfully after the rainfall we had yesterday it reduced the fire activity and due to safety gave us the chance to give our firefighters a well deserved rest with skeleton crew on the fireground. CFS and DEW crews will continue working on this fireground to monitor and extinguish any hotspots over the coming days, but for now our Kangy Team are having a well deserved rest and are busy ensuring all our appliances and equipment are restored and ready for any further call outs that may arise. Thank you to the community for their well wishes, help and true community spirit throughout this time

12.01.2022 We would like to say a huge thank you to Jason from SA Electrical Solutions for his kind donation to automate our truck bay roller doors. Jason was kind enough to donate the product and his time to come down and install them for us. We are incredibly grateful as this allows us to make an even quicker response time when we respond to incidents Welcome to the community Jason, thank you for the generous donation to our brigade

12.01.2022 Our crew are very good at firefighting, but when it comes to cleaning.. sometimes they need a little bit of a helping hand Luckily we had our two little supervisors available to give us a helping hand after we had a busy week on the fireground

11.01.2022 This afternoon the Kangy Crew responded to a tree over the road. Once arrived it proved to be a very large tree. Our crew worked along side of Strathalbyn SES to clear the road. It is great to work along side other agencies to get the job done promptly, efficiently and safely. Great work team!

11.01.2022 Our crew here at Kangy would like to wish you all a very happy New Year! Throughout the last year we have responded to many call outs particularly starting the year with some of the worst bushfires our country has seen. We are very thankful for the time and effort our members put in both on the fireground and around our station. We are also very thankful for the support, generosity and love that our community continue to show us throughout the year. Throughout 2020 we were very fortunate to welcome 6 new members into our brigade who have all done a fantastic job and have proving to be great assets for Kangy. Happy New Year everybody. Heres hoping for a fantastic 2021 for you all

10.01.2022 The Kangarilla CFS are very excited about the new venture that the Kangarilla Football Club are taking. We encourage you all to check out the new menu and book a table for you and your family! Great work Kangarilla Football Club

09.01.2022 Next Friday on the 24th of July our Kuitpo Cadets are having their first week back after their extended break. We would welcome any new cadets that might be interested in joining, to come down to say hello. We train on Friday night from 7:00pm - 9:00pm on a rotating roster between Kangarilla Station, McLaren Flat Station, Clarendon Station and Blewitt Springs Station. If you are, or you know anyone between the age of 11 and 18 years old who is interested in becoming a firefighter cadet we would welcome you at Kangarilla Station on the 24th of July. Hope to see you there

08.01.2022 It is with very heavy hearts that we share with you all, the passing of our former member Kevin Jolly. Kevin was a valued member at Kangarilla Brigade who served for our organisation for 27 years. He also held the position of lieutenant for our brigade for 10 of those years. Kevin bought pride and an eagerness to help others when serving for his community. He was heavily involved with the building of our appliances and the stowing of equipment. Kevin volunteered to not just ...help his local community but to deploy interstate and within our Region fighting many fires over the years. We are very saddened by the passing of such an honoured former member of our brigade and we send our love and sympathies to his family at this difficult time. Farewell Kevin

07.01.2022 A massive Happy Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful mums out there. A special shoutout to all of the Mum firefighters, the mums who raised firefighters and the mums who support all of our fire fighters. You are truly special

06.01.2022 Come on down to the Kangarilla Car Boot Sale and say hello to our team

06.01.2022 Many of the Mawson and Sturt Group members have spent the first day of 2021 battling a scrub and grass fire at Happy Valley. Tonight our brigade has crewed Kangarilla Alpha 34 and the Mawson Bulk Water Carrier to assist with the fire and to work on the mop up procedures, with extra crew ready to swap over and work through tomorrow as well. Great work to all the firefighters who have assisted with this job and good luck to those heading out bright and early tomorrow

05.01.2022 Last Monday our Brigade celebrated their first socially distant Christmas party. What a year we have had in 2020! We would like to thank all of our members, families and our community for their continued support throughout the last year. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope Father Christmas spoils you all

01.01.2022 We have seen such a strong sense of community spirit since the Cherry Gardens fire started yesterday afternoon. We have had hundreds of emergency service personnel from all different Groups and Regions attend to help extinguish the blaze and to defend assets. Kangy have had crews attend this fire in shifts since yesterday afternoon and have also worked tirelessly setting up and helping to run the active staging area. We are very grateful to have seen such heavy rainfall hit ...in the last couple of hours. This much needed rain has helped us to work towards extinguishing hotspots especially in the hard to access terrain. This does however make our fireground very slippery for our appliances so our crews have had to take extra care out there. We have also noticed the wind has blown a lot of embers around the area which have travelled a fair distance. Please continue to check your properties and extinguish any embers that may have landed. The Kangy CFS would like to say a massive thank you for the gifts and treats that have been dropped into our station. Our crews are very thankful for the drinks, snacks and homemade cookies that have been so generously donated
