19.01.2022 https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-feed-the-hungry-tummies-at- Kangaroo Haven has been in operation for 17 years and has cared for many injured wildlife creatures big & small, they have released back into the wild 705 Kangaroos and 80 Native birds. The Haven relies heavily on donations from tourists and locals to cover the huge costs related to the running expenses of the Haven, the main one being the cost of feed as there are many hungry tummies to fill, the monthly food bil...l is approx. $2000 With the arrival of COVID-19, Border & Zone restrictions and NO tourists coming through with their generous donations along with the Kununurra Markets being closed the animals at the Haven are missing their human contact, no more trips to town to say hello and get cuddles from tourists and locals. The Kangaroo Haven cares for many animals and birds including Kangaroos, Sugar Gliders, Birds of Prey, Emus and Native Parrots, COVID-19 is having a big impact on the running costs but with your help we can overcome these issues. Please give whatever you can to ensure a little joey has enough formula and a warm pouch and the other animals at the Haven will be safe and well cared for this Dry Season.

18.01.2022 I am so heart broken today my beautiful Emma Loo who I raised from 11 grams after her mum rejected her at Emma Gorge and the rangers brought her to me after finding her in a pandanas branch. She lived in a draw string pouch down my top for nearly 4 months and I fed her every two hours until she was big enough to stay home and didnt have to come to school every day. She lived with us for nearly 14 years I am so very lucky. She has brought me so much joy every day we have cuddl...es and kisses and I have known that her time was near and this morning we cuddled and kissed for 20 or so minutes and she didnt wanat to let go of me and my top bt I had to feed the joeys so I put her back ib her pouch with Logz to sleep as usual. I think she knew it was her last day and wanted that last cuddle. I feel so guilty that I pt her tp bed I should of known and kept her with me. RIP beautiful girl and thank yo so much for lettingfme be your mum I have enjoyed every single minute and will love you always See more

I had him Outside on the weekend just for a couple of hours to get some sunshine and see his mates. Now he can comfortably get up from lying down I know he is ok but I will keep him in the house until Friday when I...m not working and until then then he can sleep in the bedroom in his in the aircon which he is doing now lol and munching on his food. I am so happy he has fully recovered he is just too beautiful and you cant give up on these beautiful creatures. By the way I dont usually have them in aircon this is an exemption as its not good for them But he is getting spoilt just at night lol hanging in a pouch from my chest of drawers See more

14.01.2022 Kangaroo Haven needs you! We are currently looking for new volunteers for Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. Start is 6am before the heat kicks in, and only 2-3 hours of work. Duties include cleaning, feeding and joey cuddles! Hard work is a requirement, and you need to be reliable and able to commit to 1 day per week. Please call Mandy on 0438 921 942 if you want to spend your morning hanging out with native wildlife!

13.01.2022 Yay I don’t work fridays so went to the doctor this morning to get help with the pain amd pressure I w had in my fa e and head since last Thursday. I have a sinus infection and am now on antibiotics and strong painkillers so will hopefully feel better soon. Just want to say a big thank you to Azafria for all your hard work out here yesterday and Gail fir coming out this morning and this afternoon even though you are sick yourself I really appreciate all the help you have both... given me. Best thing of today was this afternoon we moved out three wallabies from the house to the big kids yard and they are loving it. Also two euros and one antilopine. The wallabies are having a ball hopping around the yard and do us Jasper one of the euros but Bella the antilopine and Avi the euro wanted to come back k inside tonight so they are now snuggled into their beds Also this arvo we released Scotty Scott, Sid and Lo and a wallaby that had just gone wild anyway so that took us to a total of 755 released in total. Bella and Avi are back in the house snuggled up in bed and the others are happy hopping around in the yard See more

10.01.2022 Its not often we get an echidna in care but tonight an echidna was rescued from a yard in town by Darryl Williams who put on welding gloves to pick it up and put in a box and brought her or him to me. It is now safely tucked away for the night and there dont seem to be any injuries so hopefully I can release it here tomorrow where it will be safe. Just a little info incase you didnt know : the echidna is very special it is the only other mammal apart from the platypus that lays eggs. The echidna lays eggs that have soft shells and are kept in the pouch for a couple of weeks until they hatch

04.01.2022 ok so whilst I was driving to school last week I get a phone call about a purple headed swamp hen that has a fish hook in her thigh. So I pick up Allyarna on the way to help me as I already have my joeys in the front of the ute that have to come to school every day as they need feeding every four hors. We pick p the hen who yes has a soft plastic lure attached to her leg the hook has gone all the way through. I cant pull the hook out the way it went in because of the batbs on... the hook would just rip her muscle even more. So I cut the soft plastic with the end of the hook and pull it from the pointy end. Clean her up she stays here for a week no infection all is good ready to get released again so i ring Josh and Kate who rang me to start with when they found her. I dropped her back at the Kimberley Land Caravan park this morning on my way to school so they can release her. Was a perfect release thank you so much Kate and Josh for rescuing her See more
