20.01.2022 Meet our wonderful Receptionist/Dental Assistant Nicole! Here’s a few interesting facts about her you may not know: Nicole has a mini Dachshund named Winnie, she is left handed, loves to play the piano and doesn’t like coriander! ... Nicole has lived on Kangaroo Island for 21 years. She has worked at the clinic as an all-rounder for over a year now and has successfully completed her Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting! She has been a great addition to our team & we would be lost without her! One of the reasons Nicole said she wanted to work in the dental field was - she had a lot more confidence in her smile after having braces when she was younger. She loves seeing the confidence come back to patients when they get the dental treatment they require to help achieve that she loves being a part of that process She looks forward to seeing you at your next dental appointment!

18.01.2022 Use of masks and contact tracing check-in now mandatory in health care facilities within South Australia. Following the latest directive from SA Health, all people in health care settings must complete a COVID safe check-in and wear a single-use surgical mask (covering mouth and nose) at all times as of 12:01, 1 December 2020. Children 12 and under are not required to wear a mask in this directive. If you have an upcoming appointment with us or visiting for another reason you... must wear a single-use surgical mask covering your mouth and nose while in the physical presence of other people. Please note that cloth masks are not considered sufficient enough for health care settings. We also kindly request only patients attend appointments unless you require a collection person, disability/incapacity or a guardian in the case of a child. We understand that these changes may cause inconvenience and we truly appreciate your ongoing understanding and support during this time.

15.01.2022 HOW MUCH SUGAR IS HIDING IN YOUR TROLLEY? This #dentalhealthweek the Australian Dental Association (ADA) is pulling back the curtain on hidden sugars to ultimately help everyone become more "sugar savvy" and improve oral healthiness. We encourage you to take a closer look at your supermarket staples.. they might not be as healthy as you think!... Look out for added sugar in the ingredient list - there are over 50 different names for sugar Avoid items where sugar is near the top of the ingredient list Choose products with less than 15g of sugar per 100g The World Health Organisation recommends a daily sugar intake of 6 teaspoons for increased health benefits such as reducing your risk of tooth decay.

07.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Yesterday the State Government announced that South Australia will go into a six-day lockdown effective from 12.01AM Thursday, 19 November 2020 in response to the latest outbreak of COVID-19. As a result of these stringent but necessary measures, we have made significant changes to our services here at Kangaroo Island Dental.... The Australian Dental Association SA Branch has recommended Level 5 Dental Service Restrictions be implemented in line with the above date, meaning no patients can be seen outside of the authorised public system. To prevent any further spread of the virus, please be advised that, as of 19 November 12.01AM, Kangaroo Island Dental will be closed for dental treatment until Wednesday, 25 November 2020. However, should you or a family member suffer from a dental emergency during this six-day lockdown, we are still here to help. Please give us a call during business hours on (08) 8553 2342 or after hours on 0437 733 350 for assistance and further advice on whether a treatment referral can be provided to the Adelaide Dental Hospital or Royal Adelaide Hospital for dental emergencies only. Please bear with us at this time as we do our best to contact patients who have upcoming scheduled appointments. We will be in touch as soon as possible to reschedule your appointments. We will continue to monitor and adhere to any future changes enforced by National and State Government authorities. Take care and stay safe.
