Gaylene, Terry and Terrys wife Julie recently visited Penneshaw in hope of spotting whales they got lucky with this Southern Right Whale and her calf. Another reason why winter is a magical time to visit our Island as its the whale migration season.
13.01.2022 Our beautiful Kangaroo Island Kangaroos, enjoying a magnificent winters day, yes thats right winter, its when our nature comes to life, its lovely and green, so lots of nutritious food for the Kangaroos to eat, if you want the best nature experience visit our Island in our winter and early spring as the animals wont be in hiding from the searing summer heat. Our winter is quite mild with many sunshiny days, but yes bring a jacket like anywhere there can be wind and rain.. Photo @nikkiki73 Ps. This was today and I actually got a little sunburn.

10.01.2022 Yesterday the Odysseys crew had our annual tree planting on our private heritage bush property, this year we decided to plant solely the Drooping Sheoak (allocasurina ) verticillata) a huge effort by everyone saw us planting 450 trees. The Drooping Sheoak is the only food source for our rare and endangered Glossy Black Cockatoos and sadly our bushfires decimated a lot of the cockatoos habitat. A great day was had by all, it was wonderful to see all of our work colleagues again. A big thank you to Peter our big boss for giving us a helping hand. #ecotourismaustralia #authentickangarooisland

This is just a taste of some of the areas we will show you on our new tour, Kangaroo Island Road to Recovery. PS. 09.01.2022 Here is a close up of Australian Sea lion pup 187, the little one our group discovered a few days ago, the parks staff have had a look a checked the mothers microchip, she’s a first time mum (6 years old) she already has amazing instincts on how to care for her pup, she was trying to get it off the beach into the dunes away from all of the action, she was shielding it with her body and carrying it, it was beautiful to witness. For more information about our wonderful wildlife tours bit.ly/KangarooIslandWildlifeTours Photos Nikki Redman Photos
09.01.2022 So cute our beautiful Kangaroo Island Kangaroos, mother’s and Joeys, we think our Kangaroos are the most beautiful of them all, not just being biased they have shorter noses and ears, darker in colour being a beautiful chocolate brown and slightly shorter but more muscular than their mainland cousins. They’re known as the Kangaroo Island Kangaroo and are a subspecies of the Western grey on the mainland. Do you agree with us ?
09.01.2022 MINI VIRTUAL TOUR - Koala Mother and Joey I’m so excited to be able to share one of our gorgeous Joey Koalas with you, I’ve been heading out to our private heritage bush property a few times a week to be able to try and get some footage of these little cuties, often not the easiest due to foliage in the way, but I’ve found 4 new joeys on our property, so wonderful to see. It was very windy this day but Koalas are used to it, Rock a bye baby. More to come over the coming weeks.
08.01.2022 A bit of cuteness to end the week. The young Australian Sea lion pups are starting to form their little gangs, they’ll keep each other company and warm whilst mum is out hunting, they’re so cute and fun to watch they really steal the show. It’s also wonderful to watch Mum and pup reuniting after her 3 days fishing trip. Come with us to see the best of Kangaroo Island, for more information bit.ly/KangarooIslandWildlifeTours... A few years back my guests and I were lucky enough to see a Tiger snake come up with a Painted Burrowing frog we watched it eat, we watched the whole process it was really quite amazing to witness, Ill pop a photo in the comments of this post.
07.01.2022 It’s magical touring at the moment, we’re having so many amazing wildlife encounters. I’ve just come off a 3 day Kangaroo Island Food, Wine and Wilderness tour, a baby echidna (Puggle) came up close to have a look at us, the gorgeous Australian Sea lion pups stole the show at Seal Bay, loads of Kangaroo and wallabies and even the endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo. 03.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY What a magical memory this video is, my guests and I were watching some Kangaroos, the one at the back was super cute with her little Joey. We always practice wildlife watching guidelines, staying nice and quite, giving the animals space but as you can see on the very rare occasion the animals do not practice human watching guidelines . This was a truly beautiful moment Ill never forget. Join us for a wonderful wildlife experience bit.ly/KangarooIslandWildlifeTours
