The cards have been printed by Snap Lonsdale, on the Fleuireu Peninsula, South Australia on environmentally managed card and the envelop...es are made in Australia from 100% recycled paper. These photos were taken on the north coast of Kangaroo Island, 10kms inland from Snellings Beach just a few months after the bush fires in December 2007. 07.01.2022 These are some photos I took of the landscape after the December 2007 Kangaroo Island bush fires just 7kms south west of Snellings Beach, which will be part of a range of tourism merchandise including, apparel, greeting cards and postcards titled tenacious. It appears that the bush fires weve seen over the last few months have been far more formidable than the 2007 fires and my fingers remain crossed for a similar rate of recovery. These tenacious yet delicate and beautif...ul seed pods and foliage burst out and unfurl from the crusty charcoal trunks and branches, which stand firm in the ashen landscape of the Australian bush in the aftermath of bush fires. When I launched the Kangaroo Island Remarkable range of apparel last year, my plan was to donate part proceeds of the range, to give back to Kangaroo Island in appreciation of all the wonderful experiences Ive had and people Ive come to know over the last 40 years, to help invigorate and contribute to the ongoing prosperity of the island. This decision to do so was based on the success of the initial launch and whether or not there was ongoing potential to develop and grow the KIR range. Little did I know then, that the need to contribute was going to be so vital, so great and so soon. Therefore part proceeds of the sale of our tenacious greeting and postcard range will be donated to various groups on Kangaroo Island who steward wildlife and environmental projects, which is so critical today and into the future. My sincere wishes to everyone on the island for a full and speedy recovery. It must have been and is still, a very harrowing and surreal time for you all. I remain hopeful that my contribution will play some part in the rebuilding of this amazing place, Kangaroo Island. 04.01.2022 UPDATE on travel to Kangaroo Island SeaLink continues to work with the SA Country Fire Service (CFS) regarding travel guidance for Kangaroo Island. The CFS has ...advised that emergency travel restrictions have been lifted and visitors and tourists are welcome on the Island. The CFS has also advised that anyone going to the Island should keep out of the areas in which fires are burning, be advised by police regarding traffic controls and keep away from emergency zones. Visitors to the Island should stay informed and be aware that a number of main road closures are in effect. Many tourist destinations on the eastern side of the Island remain open and we encourage visitors to support these local businesses. Passengers with queries about existing bookings can contact SeaLink on 13 13 01 or [email protected]. We are experiencing a large volume of phone calls and emails and we thank you for your patience if we do not respond immediately. Safety is SeaLinks priority. We continue to consult with the authorities and we thank everyone for their understanding and patience at this time.
