25.01.2022 Perinatal Mental Health Week 2020 (8th - 14th November 2020) Today is the start of #perinatalmentalhealthweek2020, a chance to raise awareness nationally around perinatal mental health, and support those expectant and new parents experiencing perinatal depression and anxiety. Raising a child takes a village. The turmoils of 2020 (COVID-19, Bushfires, Floods) have resulted in a depleted village, added stress, and minimal face-to-face support for expectant and new parents.... 1 in 5 new mums and 1 in 10 new dads will experience perinatal depression and anxiety. This PNDA week we're encouraging mums (and their family and friends) to donate the cost of their morning cuppa to help COPE, an organisation we're proud to support, continue their important work. Every cup counts! To donate please head to our link, https://donorbox.org/shout-a-coffee-for-cope-3 #coffeeforcope #perinatalmentalhealth #perinatalsupport #newmums #newdads #perinatalanxietyanddepressionaustralia #maternalmentalhealth #kangatraingau

25.01.2022 omg i have been THERE

25.01.2022 Woah I loved watching this! I found it so reassuring, what a great reminder. Good enough parenting is actually great parenting, our expectations of ourselves, and of what parenting is going to be (including birth, early days and later) are often inaccurate and that’s ok. It’s also ok to feel your feelings and to reach out for help And remember 30% , as you let out a little sigh of relief.

24.01.2022 How exciting !!

24.01.2022 #Repost @nurturenaturesydneybabywearing with @get_repost We’ve just come back from a lovely week away down south, it was quite warm but we definitely still needed the carrier to save our arms on most days. We tended to head out each morning to beat the hottest part of the day and then also went for a dip some days around 5pm. Here are some top tips on babywearing in the heat Wear a hat and sunblock ... Hip and back carries where possible Arms out Keep drinking water Some carriers are thicker than others so choose a lighter, thinner option like a ringsling when you can Remember that stretchy wraps and front wrap cross carries are multiple layers across baby’s body so consider this the same way you would when dressing them for the day Baby regulates their body temp with you, use a layer between your skin and theirs Take regular breaks Seek shade Avoid wearing during the hottest parts of the day (head out early or late instead) Don’t cover their face ! Follow TICKS guidelines See more

24.01.2022 As #WorldbreastfeedingWeek draws to a close Im feeling so lucky to have been able to feed both my babies with relative ease and enjoyment (after the first week or so). I have been feeling for everyone who has struggled; how difficult it must be seeing posts in *celebration* during world breastfeeding week. But I dont think thats a reason not to celebrate it, and continue to normalise it. Some have overcome huge barriers and challenges in order to breastfeed, and others have decided to do what they needed to do for their and their babys mental/physical wellbeing. Both paths have the potential to be incredibly brave and emotional journeys. To all the mums who have been triggered by posts during this week - I see you, and I hope that as women we will all be able to keep lifting each other up, celebrating each other always.

24.01.2022 Love it so accurate

24.01.2022 Ive been seeing so many friends seriously beating themselves up because they arent maximizing their time in quarantine by organizing their closets, repainti...ng, developing a side hustle, becoming a piano virtuoso, exercising themselves into a lucrative career as a swimsuit model, etc. Everybody! Seriously. Stop. And breathe. If youre feeling adrift, theres a reason. Im about to drop some first semester nursing school on yall. Its Maslows Hierarchy of Needs. Humans have basic requirements (the bottom of the pyramid) like food, water, air, shelter, sleep, etc. The biological basics. If those are met, then the next rung of the ladder is Safety and Security. If we feel safe and secure, then we can climb up and start on our Love and Belonging needs and on up the ladder we go until finally at the very tippy-top is SELF-ACTUALIZATION which would entail all of the cool aforementioned activities. The catch is, you cannot level up until the needs at the current level are fulfilled. If the needs remain unfulfilled, we remain stuck on our current level until the situation changes. Friends, in the midst of a pandemic, we are dwelling in the basement of Maslows pyramid. How in the heck do you think youre going to kick butt at the highest levels when we cant even find toilet paper for Petes sake. You physiologically and psychologically arent built to live your best life right now. Your only job is to live a life right now. A luxury that is being denied many which increases the pressure to really make every day count. But listen. Every day you are here counts. Every breath you take counts. Are you eating, drinking water, and sleeping at all these days? If so, that is a triumph right now. Cut yourself ALL THE SLACK. Focus on the bottom level. Are you showering? Eating a vegetable once in a while? Getting some sunshine and fresh air? Keeping some semblance of a sleep schedule? Start there. And be extra gentle and abundantly gracious with yourself. Well get through this. And right now, getting through is absolutely enough. I love you all. Hang in there. XXOO, Rachel TL;DR: Be kind to yourself.

22.01.2022 How awesome is it when one of your kanagmums is a seamstress and made us all these spooky accessories for Halloween Kanga today?! Thanks Mel, they're so so great!

21.01.2022 Happy Halloween we did our first ever trick or treat in Glebe today! was funny! What was your best ‘treat’ this Halloween?

21.01.2022 New tutorial for super simple wrapping. Wrapping with a woven wrap is fantastic for ergonomics as it moulds so perfectly around baby’s developing body, no restrictions or rigid structured backs (that are found on some carriers) to worry about. It’s like a big cuddle but with your hands free. And woven wraps have almost no weight limit, so if you have a one at home that seemed overwhelming when your baby was little, it’s probably not too late to learn.

20.01.2022 Setting up for a great class, in this INCREDIBLE ROOM! Can you tell I was a bit excited

20.01.2022 For those of you scrolling right now ! A little reminder here. And another tip: unfollow the ones who drain the sunshine from you.

20.01.2022 A bit conflicted this week with so many birth trauma stories around. I worry about the priming factor, setting people up to believe this is what birth is all about, and also the way the media takes this opportunity to put all the bad press on natural birth. But its such a fine line to walk between having people share their story which can be extremely healing, allowing ownership over trauma and also maybe highlighting some problems with the system, vs the priming of pr...egnant women to believe birth is inherently dangerous and traumatic. I had a completely miraculous-wonderful-dreamy water birth, using techniques learnt in hypnobirthing but I shared this other part of my story because 1. it was healing for me and 2. I know there are people who have had all these feelings and then some, maybe some who think their story is not worth putting down anywhere or are comparing their experience to others and feeling invalidated. So Im encouraging others to write it down, speak to a professional about it or voice it in some way (doesnt have to be publicly of course). Its incredibly empowering to own, understand, accept and move on from your experience by turning it in to a story, and all feelings are valid See more

20.01.2022 We just made a little bit of magic happen in our Friday class, and I’m off to the mountains for the weekend to connect with those dearest to me, and to connect with nature too so that’s pretty magic I hope you have some magic up your sleeve for the weekend (*hint* you do! )

19.01.2022 ’My baby hates the carrier!’ ’The wrap/carrier just seems so complicated.’ I’ve heard these phrases so many times! 19.01.2022 Come along and regain that little part of YOURSELF that so often goes astray when motherhood comes along. Laugh, sweat, love your baby and simply be you! Link in bio

19.01.2022 Weekly Focus - Baby centred Holding our baby centred on our body is great for our posture! I know I often pop my hip to the side to help support babys weight and it has really mucked my body up, especially as my kids are bigger now. During warmup you will be asked to hold your baby in the centre of your body so we dont have uneven hips or weight distribution and the same goes for why we only use centred carries during the rest of the class in the carriers. ... While hip carries can be great in everyday life (I loved my ring sling!) during Kanga we are focusing on healing and recovery and a lot of women have some hip instability after having a baby and holding your baby off centre, especially during some of our tracks can really throw it all off. Have a think about how you carry your baby during the rest of the week, and if you notice yourself popping the hip consider shifting back to the front or pulling out the carrier to help you keep the weight evenly distributed.

17.01.2022 Happy Choose-day! Choose the things you want to worry about this week Examples of things you can’t control : what other people think/say/do, the weather, the hours in a day, the way a certain event unfolds... etc. Things within your control - your actions and reactions, thoughts (or your appraisal of your thoughts), moods... You’ve got this !

17.01.2022 DAY 2: I was in baby wearing heaven today! There were literally piles of baby carriers to try on and play with. I learnt about all the intricacies of so many different styles and brands of baby carriers. It definitely takes trial and error but once you get a carrier to fit nicely and comfortably you can't help but do a little happy dance. - Hong PRO TIP: To ensure you’re wearing your baby safely, follow TICKS safety guidelines. T - Tight (no slumping and no gaps)... I - In View (airways visible) C - Close enough to kiss (easily without overextending your neck) K - Keeping baby’s chin off their chest (at least 2 fingers between) S - Supported back See more

17.01.2022 WE DID IT We started out as strangers but over the 4 days we shared our vulnerable sides, laughed and were silly with nerves together. This is what Kangatraining is truly about - community and supporting one another. I'm so glad I got to experience it with these awesome humans. Hong

17.01.2022 You guys know how passionate I am about supporting the mental wellbeing of parents Please give my new business page a boost of love and consider a gift voucher for christmas to give the gift of freedom to a new or expecting parent

17.01.2022 Excellent news !

17.01.2022 It’s important to have an optimally fitted carrier in Kangatraining so that we can ensure there is no undue pressure on baby’s body in unnatural ways, such as with dangling straight legs or a super straight spine. You can see in this example the natural way for babies and toddlers to be carried is with knees higher than their bottom in an ‘M position’, and a nice curved spine to support their developing joints and bones.

16.01.2022 Gorgeous new Mumma @katyperry keeping postpartum real. #mumlife #postpartum Katy and Orlando welcomed Daisy Dove last week.

14.01.2022 Kanga tonight with founder Nicole Pascher!

13.01.2022 Random late night post but we have had a full on day with day ONE ! ‘I really enjoyed seeing kanga from an instructor's point of view. I love that the program is specifically catered to a mother's body and designed to help her get stronger in a safe way. Now I understand why we do the things we do in kanga.’ - Hong ... Pro Tip: To get the most out of your Kanga class, remember to do short pelvic floor sets throughout the class (like when you’re getting a drink of water or having a breather, even!). Your instructor will cue you on these during the workout but you can add some extra ones in yourself as short bursts can be better than fatigued/long pelvic floor sets.

08.01.2022 Thinking of all our melbourne Mummas today Ask her to look up at the sky and watch the clouds. Even if it looks like they arent moving, they are. Everything always is. This will not last. Nature shows us everyday that seasons change. Seeds sprout. Spring is coming and Melbourne does Spring so well. Ask her to start seeking out the early blossoms.

05.01.2022 A beautiful one for Choose day - @mombrain.therapist

05.01.2022 A day late but it’s the thought that counts! I’ve loved loved LOVED seeing all of your Christmas photos especially those of you with new bubs! Baby’s first christmas, after a year like this... so worth the wait! It’s beautiful to see so much joy being spread and I’m so happy for you celebrating baby’s first (and second and third and so on!) Christmas with contentment. To me, this was a favourite, favourite one. Even though I felt sad leading up to it on behalf of people who ...weren’t able to do their usual Christmas traditions, travel and so on, it seems many had a nice relaxing time, and we just adored celebrating with a fully aware and SO EXCITED dino-mad Mstr 4, and his ‘becoming aware’ little bro (who was just gleeful to receive a small soft toy puppy). Grateful that we were able to see some very special people and sending love to those we didn’t. Here’s wishing you all peace and harmony and I hope you don’t have to move house to fit all of your newly inherited *gifts* into

04.01.2022 Carriers out to dry! We’ve had an influx of new participants lately. If a hire carrier is needed, they are washed and dried after each use (in the washing machine) so you can rest assured they are clean and sanitary for you at each class x @manduca_anz

03.01.2022 Happy Rainbow Baby day to our darling River

02.01.2022 Slow down and breathe in S U N D A Y

01.01.2022 Hong had Day 3 of her instructor course today: 9-4 Kanga practical! It was a full on day today. I thought a one hour Kanga class was hard but today we did squats, repeaters, Barre, floor exercises and choreo from 9am-4pm. I think there is a very high chance that I'll fall asleep before the kids do tonight. Fitness tip. ... If you are feeling any pain or discomfort when doing any of the exercises make sure you tell your kangatrainer. They can advise you of modifications that you can make to help you get the most out of the workout. - Hong Ps: You can still BOOK NOW FOR NEXT WEEK Link in Bio
