18.01.2022 Congratulations to Mark Karavasilis (not in photo), Olivia La Macchia and Arina George on their recent grading success. Mark achieved his 2nd Kyu Brown Belt and enters the senior ranks for Kan Zen Ryu Karate. Arina and Olivia both achieved 1st Kyu Brown Stripe. The girls next grading is Shodan-Ho (Provisional Black Belt).

16.01.2022 Hi everyone, this is the first of what will become a weekly karate FB challenge. While during the Coronavirus pandemic we can no longer train as a group, we can keep engaging with one another and motivating each other via video challenges. I encourage all students to get involved, post videos of you completing challenges, post your own challenge or post a video of a cool training idea. 06.01.2022 2019 has been such a special year for our Dojo, with 6 students passing their Shodan Black Belt and 1 passing their Nidan - 2nd dan. To put this into perspective, over the past 35 year I have only graded 4 other students to black belt. I am so proud of all the students who are all amazing people. I am looking forward to the start of training in 2020 for another great year. Congratulations to the new Shodans' of 2019:... 06.01.2022 A blast from the past. My original Dojo license to teach Kan Zen Ryu Karate. Presented to me by the head and founder of World Kan Zen Kai Karate, the late Soke Farhad Varasteh back in 1993.

05.01.2022 The Kan Zen Ryu Karate Figtree Dojo's mid-year grading last week, resulted in 4 students being graded to 1st Degree black belt, and 3 to provisional black belt. In light of this, I thought it would be interesting to post some photos of then and now. The 1st is at the lake at our annual Xmas party 2013-14? Then a grading which most received their first grade - yellow belt and finally, last weeks mid year grading with their Shodan and Shodan-Ho certificates. Congratulations guys, very proud of all of you!

02.01.2022 Congratulations to all students who attended the mid-year grading. A special congratulations to our two new senior belt ranks, Senpai Olivia La Macchia and Senpai Arina George, who both passed their brown belt grading!

01.01.2022 A special congratulations to Frank Disibio, William Searle, Madison Grover and Charlotte Neill, who after 10 hours of grading, gruelling sparring, which included grappling, ground fighting and 3 on 1 sparring. Then Kata under extreme fatigue following 3 on 1 sparring, all passed their Shodan grading - 1st degree black belt. Both Madison and Charlotte now share the honor of being the first female students I have graded to black belt in 35 years. Charlotte is also the youngest student I have graded to black belt. I am both honoured to be your instructor and proud of this milestone achievement in your lives - Osu!
