25.01.2022 Let's go for a quick run, she said. It'll be fun, she said. By the way two of the fastest and fittest runners are coming too, she said...AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE. It was not only a timely reminder of just how much blood, literal sweat and tears goes into a business; it also proves we're products of our environment. Surround yourself with strong (people who are also happy to meet for coffee, wine or anywhere sans bats, leeches and gazillion mozzies!).... Grateful for these girls for giving up their afternoon (and anniversary - sorry @bennyallen!) for the exercise! ...and for those playing along at home, I made it. Just.

24.01.2022 The inaugural Run Shellharbour has been run and WON...and I, along with an epic team who have worked around the clock to make it happen are all but DONE (including the poor security guard who was roped into painting signs - by the light of a truck!!) We set out to showcase Shellharbour to a 'few hundred' runners and on Sunday, we saw over 900 take part in the inaugural festival and the response has been overwhelming. Thank you to every person who supported this event and he...lped make today so successful! It was massive and there is nothing more daunting than throwing yourself - and all you know - out onto a live stage and just hoping you pull it off. You can't please them all, my skin has grown thicker over the years and sometimes, despite all the good feedback its impossible not to dwell on the few bad, but the response to yesterday was huge and means more than you will ever know. Here's to 2020! A special mention to Shellharbour City Council, Ray White Shellharbour City Kennards Hire Peak Sports & Learning BaiMed Physiotherapy Kemp Kreative Bin City Anytime Fitness + Anytime Fitness Beachside Personal Trainers and the stacks of vollies, event crews, friends, family and coffee for making it possible.

24.01.2022 This is a terrible photo. I look destroyed. I am. It's what zero hours of sleep looks like, it's what months of hard work, risk and sacrifice looks like. It's elation.... It's the first race, right before the starter's gun goes, the VERY moment we realise it was all worth it. It captures the very essence of why we do what we do - because we love it! As a business owner in the events industry, the Coronavirus has been crippling and the full extent won't be known for months. But I'm not alone. I'm watching events and businesses, I'm watching my friends, go into damage control to salvage anything they can, all the while counting their cash-flow on one hand with no idea of when - or where - the next opportunity for income will come. If it comes at all. It's the business(es) that brings people together who are at the most risk. The businesses that connect people. Sadly, they’re the very industries that can't simply switch on and work from home - business, as usual, during these times. Your local cafes, restaurant, the retailers, the travel agents, gyms, trainers and bars... ANY event - or business - that brings people together regardless of size or reason is important. They're essential. And they will be vital when this passes. It's time to take stock of what's important and stop stocking up on what's not. Phones and social media play a part in keeping the world connected, but they are no replacement for real people and first-hand experiences. The domino effect of this crisis is much bigger than the collapse or shuffle of any single event or season. It will impact the staff (permanent, part-timers, casuals...), artists and musicians, production + operations crews, first-aiders, security, designers and merchandisers, vendors and stallholders, the foodies and the communities that thrive - some SURVIVE - on the increased visitation events bring. So, if you're a business or someone who has been impacted by this lockdown and your 'pipeline' is looking more like a big black hole, hang in there. It's uncertain, it's scary but sometimes a crisis has a way of straightening us out, putting us where we need to be and reminding us what matters most. You. Because some things can't be rebuilt. x

21.01.2022 "Santa, you dead man?" "Yeah, man" It was a big weekend on the beach helping @wbpslsc with their Christmas photo fundraiser for the year - what a turnout from the community !... We love any opportunity to give back to the very people who give so much. 2020 definitely wasn't the year we had planned but we battled through, picked up a few scratches and a scar or two along the way, but we've almost made it and the future is looking a whole lot brighter (maybe because of it, lets see?!). 2021, we're ready! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! (Also, a MASSIVE thanks to @grace_and_stone_collections for allowing us to use their setup for the shoot too...legends!!)

20.01.2022 A few weeks ago I swapped runsheets for dropsheets and for the first time in a LONG time picked up paint and got to work on this not-so-lil' guy for the amazing team at The Happy Fox

19.01.2022 My dog is really enjoying all this extra time we're spending together ...

18.01.2022 BIB AUCTION!!! Be the first person, ever, to wear 1! We recognize the devastating fires that have gripped most of the state in recent weeks and the heroism of t...hose on the front-line. So, we're chipping in to assist by hosting an auction to wear the 1 with your proceeds being donated directly to our local branch - the Dunmore Rural Fire Brigade who have sent many a crew (with many more to go!) HOW TO WIN....either pledge your bid below or shoot us a message with your amount (the comp will run across Instagram too so we'll keep an update on the tally for anyone that's not!). The highest bidder when the auction ends at 5pm on Friday 22 November will be notified and have 24hrs to donate their commitment or we'll move onto the next highest... GO!!!

17.01.2022 This is my daughter, Quinn, running her first 1km back in December at the inaugural Run Shellharbour. She did it solely for the donut, but she did it. So did we. The branding, designs, DA's, video, marketing, registration + timing, sponsorship, operations, insurances, website, site setup, security, budgets, pricing, reports (admittedly, I haven't 100% done that yet!), merchandise, answered all the questions (mainly about the medals!), the staff, the volunteers, the signage, t...he first aid, the playlists, the ice baths and 'cause we're crazy, we painted the finish arch which saw over 900 runners cross under it. It was a success. It wasn't perfect. This is just one of several events and projects we deliver. We also collaborate with several brands and businesses (big and small) to manage their PR, marketing + media. FACT: There are more letters in the word WE than there are fulltime people in our team (1.5!) Running a business is BRUTAL, anyone that tells you otherwise is lying. To keep (sane!) up, I am constantly refining who we are, what we do and trying to get it right, always, is a lot harder than it looks but it's ALL worth it for this smile and to do it with - and for - the kids. A lesson if you will, that dreams only work if you do. So, here's to the small guys putting it all on the line ready to do big things! 2020. Here we go.

16.01.2022 Here we go...again Get ready to Run Shellharbour - Sunday 2nd May 2021! #runshellharbour

15.01.2022 I finally got 'professional' photos done (our website had been 'coming soon' for 4 years...!) and this is the first picture I receive! At first I thought it was a hilarious joke but after the past week, I actually don't think one image better summarises what a day in the life actually looks like... Excited to see life slowly looking like the days of old and fingers crossed we're back to some sort of normal soon(er than later)! Thank you, kinda sorta, The Mann Project ()

14.01.2022 During the coming weeks, we want to do our part to support the people and places who are reinventing themselves to get through these uncertain times. The very same people many of us have turned too when we needed a boost - donations, raffles, discounts...coffee! Speaking of which, meet two of the best - Brad and Renee of The Happy Fox!

14.01.2022 It's going to be a year!

12.01.2022 We've worked with Oded and the Junkyard Beats team on several occasions and can quite honestly say, we've never met a person with a higher work ethic (or a group with more talent!). For anyone in the entertainment or the arts we know how hard these past few months have been and how uncertain the following months look but please stay strong, stay positive and use those creative - and passionate - juices to keep reinventing because when this is over, you'll play an irreplaceable role in bringing people together, again

11.01.2022 The final Planted Vegan Market for 2019. This is a new initiative we launched mid-year and have been overwhelmed by the response and already looking at new ways and plans to grow the event in 2020! Thanks to all who supported, tried, tested and shopped up an ethical and cruelty-free storm...see you again, bigger and better, in Feb! #plantedveganmarket

10.01.2022 It really is the most wonderful time of the year Massive thanks to all who came out, celebrated and soaked up the sounds and scenery of last night's Twilight event! We are running on little more than Christmas cheer and coffee right now but when you're surrounded by amazingly talented people and doing what you love with the people you love, it's alllllll worth it!

09.01.2022 Yesterday's Walk the Bottom of the Harbour event in partnership with @fraserspropertyaus and @shellharbourcitycouncil. A big hole, big trucks and a big bottle to house messages of hope for the future all contributing to push Disneyland to second spot as the happiest place on earth for a few hours! And best yet...BIG things are still to come

08.01.2022 We are so grateful to call this region home and it was such an honour to collaborate with Frasers Property Australia, Shellharbour City Council and The Waterfront, Shell Cove to pull this clip together at the end of last year as part of their Waves of Discovery campaign. Matthew Adekponya is a magician behind a lens! A massive thanks to Richard of Gumaraa, Bec at Stand Up Paddle Boarding Shellharbour, Gordon and Vaya at Pines Surfing Academy, Julie Orellana for being a badass MTB'er, my family who had no choice and Rae for being an absolute goddess!

07.01.2022 Grace & Stone Collections have been a go-to for our company for close to five years. They epitomize what it means to run a business, their worth ethic is second to none and they will always go the extra mile - and man, do they do some miles! We use these guys on so many levels - signage, catering, styling, counseling (technically, not on their CV!) and workshops. Their industry has been left in limbo, but despite the hit, she remains upbeat and ready to turn it up a notch (again) when the time comes. Meet Michelle Hockey-Higgins...
