25.01.2022 Don't be fooled by the LNP's claim that it cares about regional Queenslander's. The evidence says otherwise. Simply put a vote for LNP is a vote for Brisbane.

25.01.2022 ‘OUR VOICES MUST BE HEARD TO CLOSE THE GAP’ As the Katter's Australian Party candidate for Cook Tanika Parker is disappointed no targets have been met since the first Closing the Gap report. It’s been ten years since the first Closing the Gap report was released and none of them are even close to meeting their targets, Ms Parker said. ... Now, the Prime Minister has finally acknowledged that past approaches have been wrong-headed because Indigenous communities weren’t consulted in framing the targets. Ms Parker said the only way there could be changes was if the very people who were suffering were part of the solution. Politicians have talked the talk for a long time. It’s encouraging that they’re now seeing that the only way to walk the walk and get real results is to partner with indigenous communities. But we need to see a bit more meat on the bones of the government’s proposal. Expanding the targets is also a good thing - housing, the importance of languages and land and sea rights are important to communities. Ms Parker hoped the 2021 report to Parliament was better than what she had seen to date. There’s still a long way to go, but once our voices are included in the conversation then we will begin to see results."

22.01.2022 Hosting the Olympics is a nice thing to do when you’re an affluent state that is in good control of its economy, but that is the exact opposite of the position we’re in. Any government now needs to be extra focused on maintaining some integrity in their economy so that people have jobs.

20.01.2022 It’s time for regional Queensland to stand up to the major parties! It’s time to vote KAP!

20.01.2022 GREAT NEWS FOR GROWERS Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has confirmed that the government is considering Katter's Australian Party's proposal to cut irrigated water tariff charges by 25 per cent, in a bid to aid growers and boost our economy. For some weeks we have led the charge calling for a 25 per cent reduction in irrigated water tariffs, which based on the Milling Council’s projections would add up to $220 million to the Queensland economy over the next four years. ... That’s the equivalent of 11 AFL grand finals. This policy would be a win-win for irrigators, consumers and the State Government as a result of increased production that would also provide a jobs boost for tradies and apprentices across the state. The LNP has only called for a 20 per cent reduction in costs. We are now keenly awaiting an update from the Premier and her government with regards to our proposal. #KAPteam #qldpol

20.01.2022 One more sleep!! Thank you to everyone who has shared this incredible journey with me along the way.

19.01.2022 KATTER'S AUSTRALIAN PARTY REPORTED AS BEST OPTION BY LOCAL GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION. The (LGAQ) was established in 1896 to represent the collective interests of this diverse level of government as its peak body. They are one of the oldest and most stable peak organisations in Australia, yet they are known for our innovative and ground-breaking policy development and business achievements.... In 2017, they were recognised by the Queensland Government as a Queensland Great for their institutional service. LGAQ acknowledges the KAP has a strong plan to support; Sustaining local jobs Strengthening our regions Keeping communities safe Protecting the environment Supporting the bush Advancing First Nations Councils

19.01.2022 KAP leader Robbie Katter MP has accused the Palaszczuk State Government of using Chief Health Officer directions and the COVID-19 pandemic as a smokescreen to push the ALP’s political agenda. He said a recently released Right To Information (RTI) document relating to the sudden closure of the state’s gun shops earlier this year contained proof the government was making decisions affecting huge numbers of Queenslanders on political and ideological whims, as opposed to based o...n sound medical advice or best practice procedures. The RTI further: - Proved a number of decision-makers apparently do not know anything about what they are regulating. - Indicated that media releases from the Premier are apparently a source of regulation and policy drafting. - Contained evidence regulations were made without being properly considered or thought through. This document makes it very clear these decisions were made by people with no expertise in the area and were not related to public health concerns at all, Mr Katter said. The people who made these decisions were so incompetent that police officers were not able to buy ammunition to do their jobs. Mr Katter said the closure of the state’s gun shops had nothing to do with controlling COVID-19, but was justified by totally baseless and offensive concerns about violence in the community. This episode proves the State Government has been making critical decisions based on its ideology and not what’s best for Queenslanders, he said. What else are they lying about? What else has been taken out of the bottom drawer and justified in the name of the COVID crisis?

18.01.2022 We can't afford to continue to be run by the major parties down in Brisbane. It's time for true representation in North Queensland. It's time to vote 1 KAP

18.01.2022 Queensland’s two major political parties are being challenged to pull their heads out of the sand and fix the Blue Card problem that exists in First Australian communities. KAP's leader Robbie Katter MP and myself are very passionate about this important issue that has a massive impact on First Australians. #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou #bluecards

16.01.2022 It's a great feeling fighting the good fight with uncle Bob

16.01.2022 It was awesome to be able to present the belt at the Bryde Boxing Gym Boxers at War 6 over the weekend Well done to all the athletes who performed on the night It takes true courage to step into a ring, just ask Robbie Katter MP

16.01.2022 Katter's Australian Party secures $3 billion fund access for agriculture and resources.

16.01.2022 KAP wants a referendum on a separate state for North Queensland - so that all of you get to have your say on the issue. The LNP today ruled that out. Just another example that the LNP doesn't respect people outside of the south east corner. #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou

15.01.2022 Special treatment for movie stars and AFL players while a grandmother recovering from brain surgery has to stick to regular hotel quarantine. The state government should be ashamed of itself. Grandmother Jayne Brown requested an exemption from quarantining in a hotel while she recovered from brain surgery so that she could quarantine at her home instead. The government rejected her application. But the government is quite happy to let movie stars like Tom Hanks and AFL playe...rs from Victoria quarantine as they see fit in fancy resorts so they can sip cocktails by the pool and hang out with their pals while they do their 14 days. What a joke.

14.01.2022 The Queensland Premier is being called on to urgently pursue a reorganisation of federal Jobseeker payments through the National Cabinet, in the aim of providing more boots on the ground to help salvage the state’s struggling horticultural industry. It is a state-wide tragedy that farmers, graziers and small businesses in rural communities are struggling to find help to harvest crops while thousands of potential workers continue to receive COVID-19 support. This follows reve...lations that Australians could be forced to pay up to double for fruit and vegetables by Christmas time due to a chronic lack of farm workers and an unwillingness from the unemployed to relocate to work. I do not begrudge anyone getting JobSeeker or JobKeeper, but it is time to refocus about how people receiving these payments can best help out.

13.01.2022 Robbie Katter MP and I have spent yesterday and today in Mossman and Port Douglas. Locals repeatedly brought up the ALP/LNP parties in Brisbane neglecting north of Noosa. Mossman hospital does not have maternity services and Mossman has no 24/7 police station; there are onerous regulations on our farmers and our tourism and small business operators are really in pain as a result of the Covid-19 visitor restrictions. ... Katter's Australian Party will fight to make sure the regions, which make the money for the state, get a fair share back. KAP - working for you!

12.01.2022 We can’t give up hope and we can't wait to act during these horrifying events. We have two Australians unaccounted for somewhere in the East China Sea after the Gulf Livestock 1 capsized with 43 crew on board including Mount Isa vet Lukas Orda. We are appealing directly to the Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs for immediate assistance.... We need to deploy whatever assets are there. We owe it to these people to keep searching. Please sign this petition.

12.01.2022 If the LNP goes ahead with its plan to preference the Greens in south east Queensland seats at the state election, it will be a disaster for regional and north Queensland. Put the Greens last.

12.01.2022 We need to bring back our cattle industry! In the past 20 years our Cape York cattle numbers have decreased by 300,000!! We only have 100,000 left and people are already worried for their futures in our post COVID world. ... If elected I will make it a priority to re-invest into our cattle industry

11.01.2022 This week I set out to visit and connect with our communities across remote regional Queensland. It was great to meet with locals, business owners and community healthcare professionals who are the heart and soul of our beautiful country. These are the communities that the #KAP party represents. It was empowering to listen to the stories and challenges that have been often overlooked. ... We are long over due for these voices to be heard, let’s make change. Vote 1 #tanikaparkerforcook #Regionalqueensland

11.01.2022 Labor is already planning for the end to all coal mining jobs, but now we know where the LNP really stands. They tell us in North Queensland they support coal, but when it came time to nail their colours to the mast in parliament, they squibbed it. #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou #qldpol #coal #energy

11.01.2022 The major parties have completely failed us here in North Queensland. If you have had a gut full of the northern neglect then send the Brisbane based major parties a message when you go to vote! #KAPteam #kap

09.01.2022 This is political spin at its most dishonest. As Mark Ludlow writes in the Australian Financial Review: "The two big-ticket items in the LNP’s campaign the new Bradfield Scheme and the duplication of the Bruce Highway were absent from the costings because they were on a "10- to 15-year timeframe", according to Mr Mander." That's LNP Deputy Leader Tim Mander, admitting that the LNP is all talk about funding the new Bradfield Scheme and the Bruce Highway in the next decade.... Talk about treating regional Queenslanders with contempt. #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou

09.01.2022 It's an honour to run for a party that loves its nation and stands up for what is believes in

09.01.2022 On tour with Bob in the Torres Straits. Today we will be visiting Saibai Island and Badu Island. I’m looking forward to meeting residents and hearing their issues. ... #KAP #WorkingForYou See more

09.01.2022 If we continue to vote for the major parties you can bet fun recreational activities like this will soon be a thing of the past.

09.01.2022 We are sick to death of our state government governing as if the only part of Queensland that exists is Brisbane. And the LNP is no better. They were just as much a part of this problem when they were last in power. ... #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou #qldpol #Queensland #Australia See more

08.01.2022 ‘KATTER BACKS GAP YEAR PROPOSAL TO PROTECT VITAL INDUSTRIES’ KENNEDY MP, Bob Katter is backing a proposal that would incentivise school leavers and university students into completing an 18-month gap year of work in essential industries that are experiencing worker shortages, such as meat processing, fruit picking, butchers, hospitality, tourism and mining. Mr Katter has written to the Federal Employment Minister and Treasurer advocating that the Government subsidise a small... portion of gap year workers’ wages, and that gap year participants receive a $20,000 benefit through a forced savings plan. The Government’s response to Covid-19, whether good or bad, has left us with a serious lack of willing-workers in north Queensland which is impacting industries that hold our communities together, Mr Katter said. Under normal circumstances, the backpackers comprise 50 per cent of the fruit-pickers in north Queensland which is a region that produces 20 percent of Australia’s fruit and vegetable supply. But due to border closures, the number of backpackers available is dwindling by the week. Katter’s Australian Party candidate for Cook Tanika Parker said her electorate was desperate for a proposal to protect vital industries. In the mining and meat processing industries a lot of workers have left the game due to the inflated level of Government welfare payments (JobSeeker). There’s no great guarantee that any will be coming back into the workforce although to the Federal Government’s credit they are beginning to scale down the payments. Ms Parker said the gap year would have untold benefits for the participants. The life experience of doing physical work is invaluable and immeasurable, she said. Graduating year 12 students and university students will be able to take up work for 18 months. To make this worthwhile, a gap year participant will have a benefit of $20,000 in his bank account at the end of the 18 months. The cost to the taxpayers is very small because these people would have been getting government welfare or government assistance at university anyway. In the process, the government saves our vital industries and there will be significant social benefits for the towns where the workers will be based - especially for the rugby league and netball teams, the pubs and the small business owners.

07.01.2022 Thanks to the major parties we have lost 1,189 Queensland dairy farms in the last 20 years. How unbelievable. Talk is cheap. Action is what matters. Whenever KAP has taken action to support dairy farmers, the major parties have voted us down.

07.01.2022 From growing up in Cooktown and attending her local primary, to becoming a trauma nurse and returning to run for office in her electorate of Cook, Tanika Parker has gone ‘full circle’. It’s a special feeling to return to the school where I grew up, Ms Parker said. Here at Cooktown school we have two teams, one is Cook and one is Kennedy, so it’s quite ironic that I am running for Cook here with Bob Katter who is the member for Kennedy. ... Cooktown hasn’t changed much over the years, in a way that is good because we have kept special parts of our identity but there are other fractions where we have been neglected. Ms Parker who has been on her campaign trail, said she understands exactly what her home needs to be able to unlock its full potential. If elected I will throw my support behind the local PCYC here, they are desperate for more resources to enhance our youth here, she said. PCYC’s are an integral part of helping our youth and giving them guidance to live a better life. Another focus of mine will be the Cooktown Hospital which only has eight beds for dialysis which is dangerous. It’s a well known fact that public health in the North doesn’t get as much attention as the South Eastern corner so if elected this will be one of the first issues I address. With my background as being a trauma nurse I have witnessed first hand just how crucial it is to support our hospitals, this is people’s lives we are talking about here. Tanika Parker is the Katter’s Australian Party candidate for Cook and is a proud Guguu Yimithirr trauma nurse.

05.01.2022 Great to visit the Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas with Bob. He says the birds have always flocked after him. Tourism is a key industry in the Cook electorate, and if elected I’ll be working with everyone in the sector to help the recovery from the COVID-19 downturn. #KAP #WorkingForYou

05.01.2022 People often ask us where our preferences go. You the voter, decide where they end up. KAP asks that you vote ‘1 KAP’ then number every box after that however you want.

05.01.2022 It's interesting how we have been told there's not enough money available for investment into North Queensland for years. Intense issues like drought, lack of infrastructure, high crime rates and under resourced health services have plagued with out properly being addressed. We are not suggesting money shouldn't have been spent on the coronavirus crisis, but why is it the government was suddenly able to find money for this crisis, but not crises that have been plaguing regi...onal Queenslanders for years? #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou #coronavirus See more

04.01.2022 We are in astronomical debt and what do we have to show for it? The state government doesn't mind splashing money on roads and rail lines in Brisbane, as well as on advertising campaigns. But when it comes to regional Queensland it's like we're not even on the map. They're happy to take our taxes, though. ... The KAP will never stop fighting for a fair go for regional Queenslanders, and for the over-spending in Brisbane to stop. It's time for mega-infrastructure projects to help get us out of this recession. It's time to vote 1 KAP.

04.01.2022 If you want an economy run on happy thoughts, then go and vote for the Greens, KAP Leader Robbie Katter MP told Sky News. And be warned, that this election the LNP has preferenced the Greens ahead of Labor in all 93 seats. Your vote can change Queensland for the better. Give Katter's Australian Party the balance of power so we can go and fight for you.... #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou

04.01.2022 Although we are a minor party, we still hit just as hard as the majors. These three big accomplishments happened just yesterday thanks to the KAP. $10 million to fully fund to Drive it NQ ... $30 million to ensure the construction of Big Rocks Weir Mount Isa Mines' copper smelter and Townsville copper refinery continue to operate for another three years, securing 2,000 jobs

04.01.2022 Good to see captain Robbie Katter leading the charge and standing up for Australian assets.

02.01.2022 LNP and Labor - Data mining your personal voter information. In several seats across Queensland including Cook, the LNP has sent people postal vote application forms with a reply paid envelope enclosed for you to return the completed forms. Cook residents may be misled in thinking the forms will be mailed straight to the Electoral Commission of Queensland for processing.... THIS IS NOT THE CASE. If you send your completed postal vote application forms in this envelope (see photo below), they will be sent straight to LNP headquarters in Archerfield, who will harvest (steal) your information before on-sending your forms to the Electoral Commission of Queensland. The Labor party is doing a similar process by text message. Both major political parties are known to send out these forms in the lead up to an election hoping voters will return them with their details, which are then used to send out party branded voting information and propaganda. Do you trust the LNP or Labor with your personal information? If you have a have postal vote application that you wish to mail, I suggest mailing them directly to the ECQ at the following address: Electoral Commission of Queensland GPO Box 1393, Brisbane QLD 4001. Alternatively, you can also apply for a postal vote online here: https://results.elections.qld.gov.au/Events/ElectorSearch

02.01.2022 Katter’s Australian Party will push for property owners in Queensland to regain some semblance of autonomy and authority, with the party formally backing a proposed class action against the State Government over its erosion of individual land rights. The class action, which is currently seeking expressions of interest, is being spearheaded by Charleville grazier Dan McDonald whose widely-publicised battle with the state over the harvesting of his own fodder trees resulted in ...a revision of fines and costs from $112,000 down to $10,000 late last year. [1] The case, first levied against the drought-stricken grazier by the Department of Environment and Science in 2017, ended up in the Court of Appeals after Mr McDonald was convicted of six tree clearing offences for harvesting his own Mulga trees to feed starving cattle. In what was a landmark decision, the court upheld Mr McDonald’s conviction but drastically reduced his financial punishment. Mr McDonald said at the time the ruling was bittersweet, as fundamental questions about property rights in Queensland remained unanswered. The grazier was prosecuted under the Queensland Government’s Vegetation Management Act (VMA), which has been subject to some 40 significant amendments to the in the last two decades. Katter’s Australian Party Leader and Traeger MP Robbie Katter said Mr McDonald’s situation resembled that of many subjugated landholders across the state.

02.01.2022 The Katter's Australian Party has long advocated for North Queensland to be its own separate state. It's about time we were given our own autonomy to control our own assets and have our taxes spent on our own neighbourhoods and not in Brisbane. A vote for us is a step closer to the creation of what would be the greatest state in Australia

01.01.2022 Tanika Parker is a North Queenslander through and through. Born in Townsville, raised in the Cape and then returning to Townsville for boarding school and university, she is a Registered Nurse and cares deeply about her community and Queensland’s north. She is passionate about netball and animals, as well as being a keen Maroons supporter. With her nursing background, health, education and skill-based training passions, Tanika is very much about helping improve people’s live...s and has been involved in mercy missions across the Asia-Pacific area as well. She plans to bring that same desire to State Parliament as the elected KAP member for Cook. I am running to be a voice for the people in the Cook Electorate, and to be a force for sustainable change, she said. People need to be given a choice. Her priorities, if elected, are about improving the Cape’s shamefully under-supported health services and infrastructure, as well as driving education, tourism and employment to boost the region. I will start tapping into and utilising resources that will upskill and provide support for our youth during and post this Pandemic, she says. I also plan to move the office back to Mareeba in the electorate. Tanika’s connections to Cook are strong too, with links to the Guguu Yimithirr Bama of Hope Vale. Her father was a farmer who worked for the Department of Primary Industries and her mama is an academic and social justice advocate. Having grown up and lived in the region all my life, I have family and friends throughout Cape York too, she says. I am excited about the prospect of joining the KAP team in parliament and helping the people of Cook realise their dreams for their communities and our very special region.
