25.01.2022 Anyone still have one of these hiding at the back of a cupboard?? Thanks John Forbes for sending us this photo of your recent discovery of the 25th anniversary Vintage Port. Sadly it was not intact so no report of how it tasted!

25.01.2022 We would like to let our Alumni community know that Mr Grasso passed away in July. He was a huge part of our Kapinara beginnings and clearly from comments left earlier this year, very much remembered with fondness by the students and staff. His family will be attending on his behalf on our Gala Day. Thank you Mr Grasso for all you did for us at Kapinara.

19.01.2022 Mr Ash will be attending on Saturday!! Here are his recollections. Sorry I couldnt post the picture that he sent with this. Now this was the class of 1982 I believe. Year 5/6. I was team teaching with Frances Andrijich, now one of Perths elite photographers. Frances and I team taught.... I took Phys Ed in the morning while Frances took photography in the afternoon with other classes; We were know as Mum and Dad. I would see what the kids had been up to in the morning and ask Mum how the kids had gone. If things werent right then the statement went, Mums not happy, so Dads not happy, as I would stroll into the classroom. Frances did some amazing things with the children. We did stop frame animation in the next room as it was empty. Desks were placed together with the children placed in groups of about 5 or 6. This is where they constructed their pieces. They used cardboard, paint, plasticine and manipulated their creations. We used a super 8 camera. There was also music as well that they dubbed on. Frances also did black and white photography in a storeroom so these kids were very lucky. As you can see they were a happy lot- no forced smiles here. Of course the girls were an absolute delight. Frances even named her two girls after Annaliese and Michaela who are two of the girls in the photo. Oh and my daughter was named Erin (also in photo) It is a story about the boys that sticks in the mind. I had taken them for cricket the year before and also this year. It was a district competition on the weekend in the under 13s. The first year we didnt win a thing but I had the kids rotate in every position no matter how good or lacking in their ability. Now Sunil (Sonny) in the front row was very, very, very small the year before so the pads were up to his chest. They worked very hard and I really stretched them. Full on training- fielding practice, fitness, net practice. Came the next year and it was a totally different story. We were the champs and by a country mile. A number of the boys could now swing a ball- yes 11 year olds who could swing it. My best mate, Geoff Strausss father, Eric, had taught us cricket. Eric had played State A grade well into his 30s. My mate came along to a number of sessions and Geoff played A grade for Uni until he was 31. He used to practice on me so all I got good at was defence. The boys would still rotate positions unlike our opposition who didnt. Geoff Newman, Andrew Caldow, Brenton pearce, Greg Erskine,Nathan Opie, Anuj Patel, and the star, Sunil Patel. (apologies if Ive left any out) We won every game and still this lot were one and two years the juniors of their competition. Great kids, great times and I think every single one of them went to uni if my intel was correct. (How on Earth did Newman go to Uni?)

19.01.2022 During the removal of the sink from the original staff room, we came across this little snippet from when the school opened! Intentionally left there by a tradie maybe due to the date corner? ($7700 for a North Beach property on West Coast Hwy....yes please!)

19.01.2022 This evening the tireless KPS50 team met to discuss finer details of all the activities planned for the community celebration at the school 10am-4pm on 21st October. For Alumni, the fun doesnt stop there...have you bought your ticket to the Social Evening at the Boulevard Function Centre yet?

19.01.2022 Teacher's name? Year 3 1971. Your multiple choices are Mrs Davies, Baker, Lowe, Stratton or Trainor...

18.01.2022 Shakespeare Rocks! And so do our Kapinara kids! The Year 6 Musical last night was so much fun and a night they will all remember as one of the best times they spent at primary school!

18.01.2022 Good job everyone!!

18.01.2022 1973 - Teacher and Year level??

10.01.2022 Our Kapinara kids joined thousands of other Aussie kids around Australia to sing the song written by winning students of the National Song Writing Competition. Super cute!!

10.01.2022 Here's a little group of photos from our day. Like any good party, it went by so fast! We took a lot of photos though and more are rolling in. If you have a nice pic with a past group or teacher, send it to us! Did you hear our school song if you tuned in to 6PR yesterday? What a nice surprise :) And some pretty big news from the day was a past student has convincingly pinpointed the exact spot of the elusive time capsule!! It's a lot further down than it used to be due to redevelopment but should be still accessible. We'll keep you posted on that one!

10.01.2022 Inviting submissions for new lyrics!! We have long been identified with our unique School Song of which the original lyrics changed slightly quite some time ago (many, many years ago in fact!). It has also been reviewed in recent years with the community divided whether the lyrics should be updated. Last November our School Board initiated the process for the lyrics of the first verse to be updated through the past and present school community. Students, parents/carers, school staff and former students are all encouraged to provide suggestions. Please follow this link if you are interested in becoming a part of the third version of the Kapinara school song! Submissions close October 21. http://kapinaraps.wa.edu.au/kapinara-ps-school-song-lyrics/

08.01.2022 Cool art installations! Last year, our Art specialist extraordinaire Miss Trovarelli along with an artist in residence from Italy, Mrs Corradi, worked with the students transforming our Kapinara letterbox into a mosaic masterpiece. This year they have worked with the students on Invisible Cities, the clay cities line the walls of the verandah outside the deputys office (originally Room 1). They look fantastic!
