22.01.2022 So much work goes into my designs. I begin by sourcing beautiful independent kids textile designers. Most of the print designers I use are here in Australia but I also search globally for that special unique print. The majority of the prints you see on my clothes are exclusive for my brand. Sometimes I design my own prints but I only can design simple ones like stripes or words because I’m not that good at Adobe illustrator. I’m a really good drawer and always have been since... I was little but I don’t really feel confident enough I’d rather use other artists prints. Then with the colours I choose the base fabric and the colours of the print. I select pantones and I have fabric swatch books for the base fabric. We do screen print or digital depending on the design. I have a garment technician who grades the sizes of the clothing for me if it’s a new shape. I then put all of the info into tech packs and give them to my production manager Kristy in Sydney. I pay for all the samples to be made - samples cost about 3x the price of what it costs in production. So I do all this to create a range - it’s very costly and time consuming but it ensures you’re getting clothing that are special, unique and independently designed by a small business from home!
