25.01.2022 Once again the Brisbane based major parties are making us regional Queenslanders foot the bill. There's only one way to fix the issue. Vote them out!
25.01.2022 "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."
25.01.2022 ‘I WILL BRING INDUSTRIES BACK TO ROCKHAMPTON’ The Katter's Australian Party candidate for Rockhampton Christian Shepherd is pleased to announce his commitment to establish a State Development Area in the Gracemere/Stanwell industrial corridor. If the KAP secures the balance of power we will also push for funding of upwards of $20M to build road, rail, power, water and communications infrastructure, as well as turnkey industrial facilities so that businesses can walk strai...ght in and get to work, Mr Shepherd said. This will be a massive step towards increasing medium and heavy industry and manufacturing in the Rockhampton region which will bolster our economy and provide well-paying jobs for local residents. The state owned Stanwell Corporation has over 2600 hectares at Stanwell, much of it vacant and unused. Establishing a State Development Area (SDA) will provide regulatory support on a state level, putting Gracemere on the radar for major industrial projects proposed to the Queensland Government. In short, it tells ministers and industry officials in Brisbane that we're open for business. Mr Shepherd said there was ample manufacturing and agricultural business opportunities arising from the COVID crisis that the Rockhampton region was well positioned to capitalize on. Increasing our dedicated zoning and available industrial properties will ensure we can snag as many emerging businesses and projects as possible, he said. If elected this October 31, my primary focus will be rebuilding the local economy after the major parties have neglected it for decades and Labor's COVID restrictions now dealing the death blow. When the Federal Government ends the inflated JobSeeker and Jobkeeper programs I shudder to think what is going to happen to the local economy and crime rates. I don't want to find out just how bad we can get under Labor. My motivation for running for election was how bad I could see Queenslanders are suffering, and that was six months before COVID-19 came along. Where QLD Labor will spend our precious tax dollars on feel-good renewable projects then wish upon a star that some benefit trickles down to the common man and local employers, Katter's Australian Party will zero in on projects that will increase business opportunities and create long term employment for unskilled workers and local tradesmen.
23.01.2022 Rural and Regional voters have been forgotten by the major parties. Don't reward them with your vote - A vote for the minor parties hurts the majors in the hip pocket, and will potentially offer ALL of Queensland real representation from its’ politicians. Put the majors last and send a message that we won't be ignored this October 31st.
22.01.2022 Tomorrow is an important day for Queensland. We argue it is an even more important day for North and regional Queenslanders who for too long have been forsaken and forgotten. The Katter's Australian Party, which is running in 13 seats across the state, would like to remind people that we are offering a genuine alternative to the unchecked stranglehold the major parties have on Queensland. ...Continue reading
21.01.2022 The major parties have completely failed us here in North Queensland. If you have had a gut full of the northern neglect then send the Brisbane based major parties a message when you go to vote! #KAPteam #kap
18.01.2022 Our focus is simple. Standing up for North and Regional Queenslanders. With your vote, you have the power to make a difference to North and Regional Queensland.... If you trust us with your vote, we won't waste it. Great things can happen for the North and Regional parts of our state if the KAP gets the balance of power in the next parliament. Who's with us? #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou Authorised by S. Paulger for Katter’s Australian Party. 2/321 Sturt Street, Townsville QLD 4810
16.01.2022 Probably the single most important public service announcement of the year. Perhaps the decade. Please share!
15.01.2022 Election booth comedy tour: Day 8 ALP volunteer comments on RACQ rescue helicopter landing at hospital: "Gee that's a good helipad. We must have a good government." 15.01.2022 Well that was quite an adventure. I don't take it as a personal loss - the campaign was never about me. It was about saving our region - something that is going to have to wait at least 4 years. I said it during the campaign and it still stands. I don't need the job. I have a good job. I want to improve the region for all the people out there who need good jobs too. I'm sorry I didn't run a better campaign. I relied a lot on the mainstream media who have shown to have no inte...Continue reading

14.01.2022 This time Sunday we'll be winding down from the Capricorn Food and Wine Festival. A few top blokes decided to have a practice run and get our meat sweats on at the Victoria Tavern Friday night. Their Skyfire Brazilian BBQ was as good as the first time 10 years ago!
14.01.2022 The Katter's Australian Party has long advocated for North Queensland to be its own separate state. It's about time we were given our own autonomy to control our own assets and have our taxes spent on our own neighbourhoods and not in Brisbane. A vote for us is a step closer to the creation of what would be the greatest state in Australia
13.01.2022 [MEDIA RELEASE] CHRISTIAN SHEPHERD KAP CANDIDATE FOR ROCKHAMPTON: ‘I COMMIT TO THE ONGOING REDEVELOPMENT AND REHABILITATION OF MOORES CREEK’ As the Katter's Australian Party candidate and a true local who grew up in Rockhampton, it is Christian Shepherd’s great pleasure to announce that if elected to represent Rockhampton this October 31 he will commit to the ongoing redevelopment and rehabilitation of Moores Creek. ... Over many years and many strong weather events, Moores Creek has been left with excessive erosion and several locations of massive rubble build-up which has disrupted the course of the stream and destroyed much of the bank structure and platypus habitat. Mr Shepherd said by rebuilding the creek from First Turkey Mountain Bike Reserve all the way through to the Kershaw Gardens, it can revitalize this waterway and transform most sections from dry creek beds with eroded banks to a healthy series of streams and lagoons, flourishing with biodiversity. When there is water available, Moores Creek attracts swans, ducks, turtles, water dragons as well as various species of fish and other water birds, he said. Moores Creek is home to at least half a dozen platypi and can act as a nursery for freshwater perch and barramundi which during overflow after excess rainfall will be washed into the Fitzroy River. There is approximately 6.5km of creek from First Turkey to the Kershaw Gardens That's 6.5km of what could be a pristine waterway abundant with spots for picnics, scenic walks, swimming, kayaking and most importantly - teeming with wildlife. This project will also provide an opportunity to install weirs throughout the creek. These will not only ensure water is held to sustain plant and animal life, but they can also contain litter screens. Mr Shepherd said the Jolly Rogers Fishing Club (JRFC) have been dedicatedly cleaning sections of Moores Creek has revealed that extent of we as a community were affecting the waterway with litter. By partnering with community organizations like JRFC to rehabilitate and maintain Moores Creek, we can build an enormously valuable community asset using our natural surroundings, he said. We have some fantastic water bodies in our region, such as the Murray Lagoon, Yeppoon Lagoon and the O'Shanesy Park's pond, all which sustain a fantastic array of wildlife. Having 6.5km of quality waterway like those on the north side would simply be amazing. Katter's Australian Party is committed to ensuring our waterways are performing at their best. This initiative alongside an assessment of keeping the entire Fitzroy River totally free of commercial fishing may completely transform the fishing and aquatic recreation in Rockhampton. Authorised by S. Paulger for Katter's Australian Party. 2/321 Sturt Street, Townsville QLD 4810
13.01.2022 GREAT NEWS FOR GROWERS Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has confirmed that the government is considering Katter's Australian Party's proposal to cut irrigated water tariff charges by 25 per cent, in a bid to aid growers and boost our economy. For some weeks we have led the charge calling for a 25 per cent reduction in irrigated water tariffs, which based on the Milling Council’s projections would add up to $220 million to the Queensland economy over the next four years. ... That’s the equivalent of 11 AFL grand finals. This policy would be a win-win for irrigators, consumers and the State Government as a result of increased production that would also provide a jobs boost for tradies and apprentices across the state. We are now keenly awaiting an update from the Premier and her government with regards to our proposal.

13.01.2022 Well that was a big weekend! The 2020 Rugby Capricornia Grand Final, Capricorn Food and Wine Festival plus the Koorana Crocodile Farm ought to have been enough to show Bob Katter what Rocky is all about but I took him for lunch to the Stocklands Rockhampton food court twice, just for good measure. Congrats to Colts Rugby Union on the reserve grade win and Rockhampton Brothers Senior Rugby League for their A grade win. Also congrats to Kitchen Design CQ and Stage & Audio for a successful festival.
13.01.2022 If the LNP goes ahead with its plan to preference the Greens in south east Queensland seats at the state election, it will be a disaster for regional and north Queensland. Put the Greens last.
12.01.2022 I finally got to meet Rob McCready from Altum Constructions after a fair bit of correspondence back and forth. Top bloke. Top developer. Top Queenslander. It defies all logic that Labor continue to stall on GKI's proposed $1.5B redevelopment. This is by far the largest project CQ could hope for to revive our economy and make use of the amazing asset we have in GKI that has sat disused for almost a decade. Their willingness to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge responsibility f...or this languishing asset is nothing short of gross negligence towards the voters and the economy of Central Queensland. If elected to represent Rockhampton with the balance of power, Katter's Australian Party will back any Keppel candidate who commits to funding the $100M of publicly owned common user infrastructure required to get this project off the ground. If there isn't a member for Keppel elected willing to do it, we'll go it alone. The state will get its investment back in GST alone, then there's ongoing fees, taxes, levies, duties... No more kicking the can down the road. The buck has to stop with our MP's. Vote in someone who gives a damn. KAP: ALP: Authorised by S. Paulger for Katter's Australian Party. 2/321 Sturt Street, Townsville QLD 4810
12.01.2022 A big thank you to everyone who supported us this election. Our candidates, volunteers, staff, our families and those of you who trusted us with your vote. Tha...nk you. As of Sunday evening the Electoral Commission Queensland was reporting the following results: SEAT OF TRAEGER: KAP Leader Robbie Katter MP had received 59% of first preference votes, with 63% of votes counted. SEAT OF HILL: KAP's Shane Knuth MP had received 52% of first preference votes, with 79% of votes counted. SEAT OF HINCHINBROOK: KAP's Nick Dametto MP had received 46% of first preference votes, with 53% of votes counted. #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou
12.01.2022 It's time to align Katter's Australian Party has backed tens of thousands of modified vehicle enthusiasts after agreeing to a full list of reforms proposed by the Australian Recreational Motorists Association. The reforms, amongst others, include recognition of interstate modifications for registration transfers, introducing an engineering and certification program where Australian and Queensland Chartered Professional Engineers are to freely undertake vehicle modificatio...ns based on Australian Standards and transferring responsibility of vehicle modifications regulations and standards to the Commonwealth or a national regulator with conditions. This list is a common sense, practical approach towards getting Queensland to align with a national vehicle modification framework. It is insanity that vehicle modifications performed by a Chartered Professional Engineer interstate are not recognised on vehicles in Queensland. If such modifications were certified as safe by an engineer in a different state or territory, why should they be illegal in Queensland? We’ve got to get with the times. With an election around the corner, the KAP is well placed to be in a position of power to form the next government, and we’ll be working hard to get these much-needed reforms across the line. Working for you!
11.01.2022 The Queensland Premier is being called on to urgently pursue a reorganisation of federal Jobseeker payments through the National Cabinet, in the aim of providing more boots on the ground to help salvage the state’s struggling horticultural industry. It is a state-wide tragedy that farmers, graziers and small businesses in rural and regional communities like Rockhampton are struggling to find staff while thousands of potential workers continue to receive COVID-19 support. Thi...s follows revelations that Australians could be forced to pay up to double for fruit and vegetables by Christmas time due to a chronic lack of farm workers and an unwillingness from the unemployed to relocate to work. I do not begrudge anyone getting JobSeeker or JobKeeper, but it is time to refocus about how people receiving these payments can contribute to the struggling economy.
11.01.2022 Thanks to the major parties we have lost 1,189 Queensland dairy farms in the last 20 years. How unbelievable. Talk is cheap. Action is what matters. Whenever KAP has taken action to support dairy farmers, the major parties have voted us down.
11.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who responded to my call for action yesterday! There's banners and corflute going up all around town with no shortage of people backing the KAP to deliver for regional QLD. If you'd like to show your support too please get in touch. The more exposure we can get the better. I'll be looking for voting booth volunteers later in the month so if you can spare an hour or more on October 31 please send me a message!
08.01.2022 IT'S TIME TO UPGRADE STAPLETON PARK SKATE PARK As the Katter's Australian Party candidate for Rockhampton Christian Shepherd is thrilled to announce that if elected to represent Rockhampton with the balance of power he will fund $1M towards upgrades and associated drainage works at the Stapleton Park skate park. Mr Shepherd said Stapleton Park is the key skatepark facility in North Rockhampton and provides an important recreational space for Rockhampton's youth to have fun, b...e physically active and improve their fitness. The park holds a special place in the hearts of many local families and is key to the social fabric of the surrounding suburbs. Unfortunately, it is prone to flash flooding during heavy rain which can put it out of action, Mr Shepherd said. Rockhampton Regional Council has proposed that the expansion include street style elements and drainage improvements to reduce the inundation. I'm more than happy to work with all levels of government, local and federal, to ensure that we achieve the best possible outcomes for our community. As a Rocky local and a former skate-rat, I'm overjoyed to be able to contribute to this project which will improve recreational opportunities for our youngsters. I was in my skateboarding prime when this park was opened up and even though we roamed around town making nuisances of ourselves, the skate park was always home base where we met up, hung out and practiced our skills. Other candidates keep saying they support this and support that, but aren't showing they have any ideas or plans on how to do it. Just empty expressions of sentiment. Rockhampton doesn't need any more cheap talk. We've had decades of it. We need action. I will support our communities, our sports, our jobs and our families, and every election pledge is showing voters how. Authorised by S. Paulger for Katter’s Australian Party. 2/321 Sturt Street, Townsville QLD 4810
08.01.2022 Christian grew up in Rockhampton and is immensely proud to call this special part of the world his home. Queensland has world class tourism, agricultural and mining industries and these have been the foundation on which our fantastic standard of living has been built, he says. This hasn't happened by accident though, and requires careful planning, diligence and strong support to ensure it continues long into the future, especially now in the wake of COVID-19.... If elected to be your voice in State Parliament, Christian says he will strive to improve legislative and fiscal outcomes for our region. I want to ensure that my region is given proper investment and can no longer sit idly by watching major parties ignore regional Queensland. If elected, his main focus areas will be reducing energy prices for all consumers, reforming vegetation management laws, supporting local industry and water projects.
06.01.2022 And so the sun sets on another glorious day in Central Queensland. Let us hope that Rockhampton chose to embrace progress, prosperity and change.
06.01.2022 Congratulations to the Frenchville Sports Club Ltd Roos who took out both premierships last night and will hold onto the Wesley Hall Cup for another year. It actually wasn't a bad match to watch considering they were playing soccer. Well done to all competitors. Give 'em hell again next year Bluebirds United Football Club.
05.01.2022 This is political spin at its most dishonest. As Mark Ludlow writes in the Australian Financial Review: "The two big-ticket items in the LNP’s campaign the new Bradfield Scheme and the duplication of the Bruce Highway were absent from the costings because they were on a "10- to 15-year timeframe", according to Mr Mander." That's LNP Deputy Leader Tim Mander, admitting that the LNP is all talk about funding the new Bradfield Scheme and the Bruce Highway in the next decade. Talk about treating regional Queenslanders with contempt. #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou
05.01.2022 Why did QLD Labor just announce an initial $25M (the total is an enigma even to the Premier) of taxpayer dollars to fund Rockhampton its second stadium in as many weeks, meanwhile refusing to come to the table to build vital infrastructure on Great Keppel Island that will facilitate over $1.5B in construction investments? Why are we blindly building Browne Park in mystery stages instead of vital GKI investments in measured, practical, planned stages? I bit my tongue on last m...Continue reading
04.01.2022 Big night ahead at the Capricorn Food and Wine Festival! Thanks to Bob Katter for making the trip to babysit!
04.01.2022 ‘KATTER'S AUSTRALIAN PARTY WILL NOT IGNORE GRACEMERE’ The Katter’s Australian Party candidate for Rockhampton Christian Shepherd has announced his support for Gracemere State School. Mr Shepherd said Gracemere had been ignored by Labor.... I've spoken up about the condition of Gracemere State School in the past, hoping that other local candidates would recognise their plight, particularly the incumbents, Mr Shepherd said. The Keppel candidate was the Assistant Minister for Education who makes no hesitation to use the Gracemere region for media attention and continually claims that ‘every child deserves a good education regardless of their suburb’,. It would seem that being a suburb whose Labor vote is down to 30% from 50% since they ripped the heart out of it with the sale of QR National that puts a black mark against Gracemere's name. Judging by remarks made by herself and Stephen Miles lately, these "looneys, freaks and weirdos" as the Labor anointed call them, are considered a lesser class of human than Labor voters. Mr Shepherd the construction of Gracemere High School was low hanging fruit for candidates. One doesn't have to even scratch the surface of Gracemere's needs to back it, as it is basically the default position for all but Labor, he said. But if they were to stop and actually talk to the Gracemere community, they'd discover the gross neglect and absolute contempt that Labor have shown for the students, parents and staff of Gracemere State School. As the Katter's Australian Party candidate for Rockhampton, I will commit to upgrading the educational facilities at Gracemere State School to ensure that these wonderful young students get a fair go. This will include a new amenities block, a perimeter fence to ensure the safety and security of students and teachers, an expanded carpark with pick-up and drop-off area as well as a completely new building consisting of several additional classrooms and more amenities. If properly equipping Gracemere State School also requires relocating demountables from the numerous Rockhampton high schools that are suffering a massive shortage in enrolment numbers, that is what we'll do. The Gracemere State School P&C are sick to death of their school and their kids being blatantly, wilfully ignored while already modernized schools in Rockhampton are lavished with multimillion-dollar projects by the state government. No more ignoring Gracemere. No more excuses. No more games with booth percentages. No more kicking the can down the road. The buck stops here. Authorised by S. Paulger for Katter’s Australian Party. 2/321 Sturt Street, Townsville QLD 4810
03.01.2022 It's interesting how we have been told there's not enough money available for investment into North Queensland for years. Intense issues like drought, lack of infrastructure, high crime rates and under resourced health services have plagued with out properly being addressed. We are not suggesting money shouldn't have been spent on the coronavirus crisis, but why is it the government was suddenly able to find money for this crisis, but not crises that have been plaguing regi...onal Queenslanders for years? #KAP #KAPteam #workingforyou #coronavirus See more
03.01.2022 Disgustingly predictable. "STATEMENT FROM LOCAL GOVERNMENT MINISTER STIRLING HINCHLIFFE: Once the new parliament is sworn in, the Palaszczuk Government will introduce and pass a bill to retrospectively amend the Local Government Act.... I have received advice that should this be completed at the earliest opportunity, any vacancies to any mayoral or councillor positions that have recently arisen will need to be filled through a by-election. This will ensure communities can have a proper vote to determine who represents them. Minister for Local Government, Minister for Racing and Minister for Multicultural Affairs The Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe"
02.01.2022 Although we are a minor party, we still hit just as hard as the majors. These three big accomplishments happened just yesterday thanks to the KAP. Mount Isa Mines' copper smelter and Townsville copper refinery continue to operate for another three years, securing 2,000 jobs ... $30 million to ensure the construction of Big Rocks Weir $10 million to fully fund to Drive it NQ
01.01.2022 I couldn't resist taking Bob Katter to Koorana Crocodile Farm on the weekend, jokingly dubbing him the spiritual successor to Mick Dundee. Likewise I couldn't resist offering the farm an autographed croc tooth Akubra to honor the late and great Buka, a 5.3m croc who hailed from Nick Dametto MP's neck of the woods. Buka made his way from a cane farm irrigation channel in Ingham in 1984 to the iconic Capricorn Coast croc farm (perhaps an election oman for Katter's Australian P...arty ) By total coincidence we bumped into Todd Bairstow, one of only two Australians known to have survived a crocodile death roll. Todd was nice enough to autograph the hat too. He copped some gnarly scars and lost a finger from the 2012 incident but is in good spirit and still loves his boating, fishing and shooting

01.01.2022 My plan is to support water infrastructure so we can increase agricultural growth and manufacturing. It's time to look after Australia and local jobs
