21.01.2022 It is with great sadness the Kapunda Christmas Street Party Committee need to inform you that we have decided to cancel the street party event for this year. As... you know this year has been full of uncertainty and we cannot predict how things will be for the the rest of the year. We came to our decision based on a number of reasons, mostly because we just dont know that a gathering like this would be allowed and even if it was allowed can easily change at any time, but also we have not been able to do any fundraising and we do not want to ask businesses for sponsorship's or donations because this has been such a hard year for so many. We just feel it would not be right. We would like to at least do what we can this year and have discussed several ideas. We will be running the Christmas lights/decorated house and business competitions. We will be running the colouring in competition and this year we are going to add a section for adults to enter, as well as a section for the elderly within the community and nursing home. We will also still be having Map the Miner dressed. We also have a couple more ideas up our sleeve, but we need to find out some more information before we know what we can or cannot do so please stay tuned for further news. We are hoping next year we can go even bigger and better. Yours sincerely The 2020 Kapunda Christmas Street Party Committee Bec Harris (Chairperson), Leonie Boyd (Secretary & Treasurer), David Hogg, Fabio Antonioli, Rich Bolton, Elliza Bolton, Tash Williams, Jennette Mickan, Chantal Andrews, Bradley Haylock, Cathy Jones, Destiny Wilks (helper).

20.01.2022 Hi Everyone An update to let you know what is happening this year. We will be sharing further information about everything very soon. Letters with the following... information have gone out to most of the local businesses in the Main Street with a few more still to visit. Please contact us if you would like a letter to be sent to you or if you would like to help in any way. Thank you :) Decorating Map the Miner will be dressed, thanks to the kindness of Coates Hire and the MFS, The MFS will also put the wreaths up through the street. The red ribbons will also be up. Competitions Best Decorated Business Best Lights/Decorated house/Garden Colouring in Competition for children and the elderly Helping people in need via Uniting Care Kapunda We would like to organize donations of canned food/drinks to be given to Uniting Care Kapunda to put into the Christmas Hampers. Of course, any donations of appropriate packet items (food/ toiletries, etc. is welcome too). We are also looking for businesses who are willing to be a drop off point for these items. We will share on Facebook where the drop off points are. We are asking for monetary donations ($20 per child) to be given to Uniting Care Kapunda to purchase toys to go into the hampers for families who have children. Uniting Care Kapunda will know the age of the children so will be able to buy each child an appropriate toy. If there is money left over, we would like for Uniting Care Kapunda to use it for other necessities that arise. Money can be paid directly to Uniting Care Kapunda via bank transfer or by cash. They are open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10am until 2pm, alternatively we can take the money on your behalf if you prefer. Copper Road COVID friendly Edition We have decided to go ahead with Copper Road and will sell the bags prior to the school holidays so that at any time during the school holidays the children (with an adult present) can come into the participating shops and collect their item. Merry Christmas to you all and best wishes for 2021 Chairperson: Bec Bolton, Secretary & Treasurer: Leonie Boyd, Committee Members: David Hogg, Richie Bolton, Elliza Bolton, Fabio Antonioli, Tiani Leis, Natasha Williams, Jennette Mickan, Chantal Andrews, Bradley Haylock, Cathy Jones.

13.01.2022 **IMPORTANT NOTICE** Sadly, today the Kapunda No Bull Concert Event committee has made the decision to cancel the show. The lack of a camping facility has impac...ted far more on ticket sales than we could have imagined, and it is for this reason that we have made the tough decision. We would much prefer to cancel than give our incredible supporters a less than ideal experience! It’s not all doom and gloom though. As a result of this Matt Cornell and Brooke Supple Music will now be doing a SECOND & FINAL show at The Barn at Wombat Flat on Saturday 21st November! Bear in mind their first show on the Friday night is almost sold out!! Tickets are extremely limited due to COVID capacity restrictions, get your tickets now before you miss out >> https://www.wombatflat.com/wombatflatevents/ PLEASE NOTE: We are currently working with Ticketebo to arrange refunds for all ticket holders. We will continue to keep you updated through social media and email. 10.01.2022 [Update - click 'See More' for details] Hey all, Thank you for those that attended the meeting tonight at Kapunda Bowling Club, great to catch up.... Due to the current environment, were looking to keep things simple for the 2021 Kapunda Charity Car Cruise. Were really looking forward to this one and planning is underway! A quick summary/update: - Dates for 2021 are March 5-6-7 (March 8th is a Public Holiday). - Well start off at Lil Mos for breakfast on Friday, March 5, approx. 8:30 am kick-off. - On the evenings of March 5-6, well be parked up and staying in Peterborough SA! - There are several options for accommodation, youll need to book your own asap, we can provide you with contact details. - No need to order new polo shirts, well be recycling the previous years shirts. - No need to buy tickets or go hard organising auction items for the auction dinner, well be skipping it in 2021, and having a get together at the Clare Castle hotel on Sunday, late afternoon of March 7th. - Well be ramping up fun stops/activities, and dress up themes. - The entry fee is $250 per person, with all funds being donated. - More detail/updates to follow as we progress. Whats happening with previous and new funds raised? - The hospital has reassured us theyre intending to spend all the money previously donated and, of course, any future donations. - Due to COVID, there have been many roadblocks/restrictions imposed on them, however, some funds have been used to buy essential things, including new washing and drying machines for the aged care facility, and a majority of remaining funds are currently planned for finishing the helipad and other hospital upgrades, among other things. - The reason funds werent immediately used for the existing helipad (as originally intended) is the Government is now looking to upgrade all helipads in SA as part of an initiative to replace all Rescue 1 helicopters. If youre interested in joining us in 2021, please contact Colin Bolt on 0416 214 956 or message us here and well get a registration form to you asap. Numbers are limited for obvious reasons so first in first served. Looking forward to another cracking year of touring our beautiful state, great fun, laughs, and raising funds for a great cause. Sincerely KCCC committee.

06.01.2022 Kapunda Town Square, Friday 13th November from 10.00 am until 3.30 pm. The eradication of polio is one of Rotary International's longest standing and most signi...ficant efforts. Along with our partners, we have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won't stop until we end the disease for good. To raise awareness and assist with ending Polio, the Rotary Club of Kapunda will be displaying the ute and a trailer which contains a functioning iron lung in the Kapunda Town Square on Friday 13th November from 10.00 am until 3.30 pm. Come and view the display, throw a $ in our bucket to support ending Polio in the world. What is the Iron Lung? Large polio epidemics caused panic every summer during the 1940s and 50s in industrialised countries including Australia. At that time, people with polio affecting the respiratory muscles were immobilized inside iron lungs huge metal cylinders that operated like a pair of bellows to regulate their breathing and keep them alive. Today, the iron lung has largely been replaced by the positive pressure ventilator; nevertheless, it is still in use in some countries. See more

02.01.2022 What is U3A? U3A is an international volunteer organisation providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment for people who a...re usually over 50 who are no longer in full-time employment. The concept has taken root in South Australia with 19 groups well established in the state. From humble beginnings the Kapunda U3A has grown exponentially, diversifying in subjects and increasing in expertise. U3A is run entirely by volunteers (Its Members?) and draws on the knowledge, experience and skills of its members to learn from each other and share experiences in a relaxed, social environment. U3A Kapunda and Districts U3A Kapunda and Districts has been in existence for about 10 years and has about 100 members from the town of Kapunda extending as far as Gawler, the Barossa Valley and Eudunda. Courses offered in the past have included Computer Forum, a Choir (Kadence), a book club, cooking classes, indoor bowls and petanque. Due to covid, all courses have been in recession, but we now have the go ahead from the committee to restart where applicable and safe. Balance and Bones, the Ukupundas, U3A Kapunda Community Garden project are all holding workshops very soon. Details are posted on this Facebook page. Strict and current Covid protocols will be followed. Please update in comments and send me an item if i missed you. We don't have a formal newsletter or programme at the moment, and could go back into recess at any time according to health advice. Courses may last for an hour or a year and, for a small annual fee, members may enrol for as many courses as they wish. Fees are An additional fee may apply for some courses. There is no accreditation, assessment or qualification to be gained. U3A Kapunda and Districts is an independent body which is run by an elected management committee of members. At the moment they are meeting monthly in order to sort out the intricacies of the current changing situation. Everyone is encouraged to contribute voluntarily to the running of this U3A to ensure it is an active and vibrant organisation. U3A Kapunda and Districts believes learning is a pleasurable experience which provides opportunities to mix with like-minded people who enjoy doing new things. Funds from these grants will assist the U3A in improving existing courses and help with developing new courses which would improve the well-being and life style of members of the community.
