21.01.2022 Thanks to Wheatbelt Natural Resource Management Inc for your support - looking forwad to seeing you on Friday.

20.01.2022 The ABARES March Quarter 2018 Agricultural Commodities publication helps put wool prices into perspective. While nominally prices are the best they have been in decades, in real terms (measured in 2017-18 dollars), we last saw prices this good back in the late 1980s. Sheep Central have a short summary of the report here:

18.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who attended our Field Day and Ram Inspection on the 21st. We displayed the tools we use to measure individual sheep performance, allowing us to select the most profitable genetics and improve the rate of genetic gain in our flock.

17.01.2022 Great to see EID use in a commercial operation, allowing recording and tracking of preg scanning, growth rate and fleece weights. I think the value of this information would be enhanced further by dam identification too. #DPIRD #SIBI #maternalefficiency

17.01.2022 Quick shout out to the businesses that helped us cater for the Field Day today: Go. cafe for the freshly made sub platters Annette Syred for the delicious sweets Quin's Butchers for your ever-popular sausage rolls Wheatbelt Natural Resource Management Inc for sponsorship

13.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who joined us today, in particular our speakers Philip Barret-Lennard, Dean Thomas, Bec Butcher, Katherine Davies and Brent Searle. We hope you enjoyed listening and learning from them as much as we did.

12.01.2022 Sale team preview Rams will be penned ready for inspection from 9am this Friday, 27th September, Sadler Road, Cunjardine. Private selection open from 1.30pm. We also have a fantastic line up of speakers at the Field Day in the morning - we hope you can join us.

11.01.2022 Had a very nice surprise today. Our line of stud hogget wool cracked the 3000c/kg clean and 1950c/kg greasy. Apparently top price of the sale. #wool #karabeinpolls #westcoastwoolandlivestock

05.01.2022 Where does your wool blanket come from? Just ask Sesame Street. Enjoy! #wool

02.01.2022 Thanks NeXtgen Agri Ltd for including us in the Australian Wool Innovation funded proximity sensor project aimed at more accurately and efficiently improving dam identification. We put collars on all the stud merino ewes and their lambs, let them mother up in the paddock overnight, and then took them off. NeXtgen Agri Ltd then download the data and run it through their program to give us the results. We normally use a Pedigree Matchmaker for dam identification, and will likel...y continue to do so in the future. But it was interesting to try an alternative. Previous research by School of Veterinary and Life Sciences - Murdoch University and DPIRD Broadacre; WA Grains & Livestock has shown these sensors mother up about 95% of lambs over 24 hours, where as the Matchmaker mothers up about 90% over a longer period of time, with 90% correlation between the two.
